SSS-Rank Magus: I Shall Conquer All The Beauties In The New World

Chapter 22: A War Between Kingdoms (Part 4)

Kai had no illusions about defeating a Grand Magus with his current power, but he did possess confidence in his strategy: exhausting Lincoln. Ice was just another Endowment derived from water, requiring immense concentration and magical energy to control. Once that control was shattered, Lincoln would be far less of a threat.

Cracks had already begun to spread across the ice covering the ground after Kai's earlier assault. "Honestly, I think it's more than enough," he said, his DragonTooth Dagger glinting dangerously in the dim light. "I'm not even at the Grand level, and I'm making you look like a fool."

Lincoln's eyes narrowed, a frigid aura wrapping around his body as his hair flailed wildly in the cold wind. He raised both hands, and the force of the cold winds sent several remaining warriors on the ice flying backward. It was clear that Lincoln cared little for the fallen or for those still standing on the battlefield. His pride was all that mattered.

Kai recognized the shift in the atmosphere. Lincoln's pride had been wounded, and he was about to unleash his full fury upon the young Magus. 'So this is a Grand Magus's true power,' Kai thought, gripping his cloak tightly to prevent it from being blown off by the fierce wind. The force of Lincoln's magic was undeniable.

While Lincoln wasn't particularly strong by some measures, he wasn't weak either. The Ice Endowment was powerful, though it wasn't known for its attacking capabilities. Several objects of ice began to form around Lincoln—tendrils, orbs, and spikes. He roared, and the domain beneath them let off large cracks, revealing that he was slowly losing his concentration.

"Is that all you've got?!" Kai exclaimed, his voice taunting, as if he was looking down on the Magus. That final push seemed to fracture Lincoln's focus even more. His arms vibrated as he expended more magical energy, creating an array of ice weapons and launching them toward Kai, who merely stared at them, unfazed.

The ensuing collision produced a thunderous explosion that echoed across the battlefield. The force was so powerful that it sent the various warriors careening into the air. Kai felt the impact resonate through the ground, but he stood firm, determined.

Lincoln took several deep breaths to steady his shaky arms, glaring at the mist where he believed Kai had been standing. "That'll teach you a lesson," he said, his voice laced with arrogance. He was sure there was no way Kai could have dodged or escaped that onslaught.

But from the mist emerged a blur, and Kai held the DragonTooth Dagger tightly in his hand, closing the distance with a smirk. "Your weakness is your pride," he said, his eyes glinting with the electricity that danced within them. "That's what's going to lead to your demise… again."

'Again?? What does that mean?' Lincoln thought.

Lincoln tried to move, but his legs felt heavy and unresponsive; he had exhausted his mana. As Kai approached, Lincoln could feel his ice domain gradually melting away. Time seemed to stretch, and in those fleeting moments, Lincoln saw his life flash before his eyes. There would be no mercy awaiting him—only death.

Kai struck with deadly precision, stabbing the Grand Magus in the head and slamming him into the ground. As Lincoln's body crumpled, Kai pulled the dagger free and channeled lightning into it before bringing it down again.

Stab

He pulled it out, lifting it once more.

Stab

Again, he brought it down.

Stab

Blood splattered against his face, but he didn't hesitate.

Stab

He continued the relentless assault until the Grand Magus's blood mixed with the icy ground. Kai stood, panting heavily, wiping the blood from his face. He had long since accepted that his morals wouldn't serve him in this world; they would only lead to an early grave.

Taking a deep breath, his eyes wavered, but the cold wind began to recede. The storm that had once been subdued roared back to life, dark clouds swirling ominously above, rumbling with pent-up energy.

Floating into the air, Kai looked down at the disoriented warriors from Biola. They were shaken—had a Grand Magus truly been defeated? It sounded absurd, yet here he was, standing victorious.

The storm intensified, echoing his growing rage, and with a wave of his hand, more thunderbolts descended from the sky, determined to wreak havoc on Biola and erase its threat from the port.

The small war that followed lasted only an hour or two. The Asura Kingdom had suffered losses, but they were nothing compared to what Biola endured. Not only had their male adventurers and Magus been slaughtered, but many of their female warriors had been captured, their fates uncertain as they faced the harsh reality of becoming slaves.

Kai couldn't care less about what would happen to them. What mattered was that he had thwarted Biola's invasion. As the storm clouds began to recede, he shot into the air, leaving the Imperial City in an instant.
