Chapter 14: The Nature Of Reality
Musa led Nasiah behind the large tree and towards an open area in the valley that has a river flowing through it.
Forenus stood close by but said nothing. It was better for him not to get involved in a process he had little understanding of.
Musa sat down by the river bed and gestured to the flowing waters. "Magick is used to create, control, destroy, or connect the laws of nature. Each and every rule that helps this world function that's where it lies. From the flowing of this river to even the water itself."
Nasiah knelt down by the river bank, reaching out into the water in amazement. He thought back to when Jaguar regenerated; that must have been some kind of law to manipulate his bodily healing.
Then, further back to when Forenus could manipulate water so finely, to even flash freeze and turn it into plasma. That must have manipulated a law on water.
The boy focused his vision once again and saw the threads that crossed across the world. He looked at them closely.
The largest ones he saw had a rainbow color and stretched above the sky. They were so massive that they would have been able to block out the sun.
The next largest ones he saw were gold in color, they stretched across the sky akin to tree trunk thick rope that bound the world.
Then were the silver-colored threads that were as large as ropes. They hung below the clouds and arched like rainbows.
Next were bronze-colored threads that were much like yarn. They hung in the air right above Nasiah's head.
And the smallest ones he could perceive were grey, as thin as spiderwebs. It was the one he interacted with before.
He saw that each one seemed to connect; the grey was split off from the bronze, which came from the silver, and that fell from the gold, which was ultimately connected to the rainbow-colored giants in the heavens.
Everything was together as one, acting in unison like a hivemind. It was all so beautiful in his eyes.
They were all connected, each with their own properties, their own uses, and their own Names. Each one acted as an individual, yet each one helped the other complete their goal.
Gravity bound things together while momentum ensured their movement. Temperature regulated their energy, and so on and so forth. Even the smallest of Names that were simply specks of dust floating in the air added to the wonderful tapestry all around him.
He appreciated every single detail, like a massive painting with all of creation as its canvas. With his new power, he would become the painter and make a wonderful work of art with his tools.
Musa laughed; he could feel the excitement within Nasiah's blossom. "Now, try to be careful. The more powerful and widespread the law is, the more you would need to manipulate it, as well as the more dangerous the after-effects are."
He placed his hand in the river. "Take this river for a moment. If you dry up a small portion of it, it will affect the part you dried on and the fish around it."
Musa raised his hand to gesture to the whole of the river. "But dry it all up, and nature begins to react violently. Dead plants, fallen animals, and many more consequences would come. Due to that, it would be wise to focus more on its lesser aspects."
Nasiah gave him a nod of understanding. He could do that very well. He already saw what that looked like.
He raised his hand towards a grey thread by the water; it bore the Name "Momentum." It was attached to a bronze thread which had the Name "River".
After some quick thinking, he grabbed the Grey thread and split it in half, causing part of the river in front of him to stop moving.
This acted as a dam, which caused part of the river to overflow.
He then mended the thread and returned the full momentum of the river, allowing it to continue as normal.
Nasiah clapped his hands in amazement. "That was great! So is this what others do so that they could use Magick?"
Musa shook his head. "No, they are not born with this power. Instead, they are bestowed upon it by the Aetree or by those who have truly mastered the laws of this world."
Nasiah pondered about this for a moment before he stared at Musa. He found that there were several threads that were wrapped around his body like yarn.
He then faced Forenus. The Great Marquis had threads being produced by his body that spread around him.
"So some people have it innately, and others learn it. I get it now. That's amazing; who are those who mastered the laws of the world?"
Musa looked up at the sky. "Ah, many tales have went and gone on such powerful creatures. Dragons come to mind and their destructive authority. Fae and their ability to trick and manipulate the world, and so much more."
"But that is not what matters as of this moment. Now, you have learned this power, and you are able to wield it. I must ensure that you use it wisely and carefully."
With great speed and power, Musa jumped into the air and landed in front of Forenus, bowing his head. "I ask of you if it is within your power to allow me to accompany him on his journey?"
Forenus gave a small chuckle. "It is not I that you should be asking, but his mother. We can lead you to her."
Nasiah turned around to face them as he heard mention of his mother. "Yes! Mother would be so happy I got myself a teacher! Let's go!"
Forenus stood up and beckoned the rest to follow him as he dashed out of the valley. The remaining two ran by his side, and all of them went to the base where Myrym and Forcas waited for them.
