Starlight of the Apocalypse

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Envoy of the Divine Clan

As the figure arrived, more than a dozen fully armed human soldiers appeared behind them, wielding the most advanced particle beam rifles of the Starfire Alliance. These weapons, with a longer range and greater power than magnetic storm guns, could lock onto multiple targets automatically without the need for aiming, though they consumed energy quickly and were complex to manufacture and maintain—only the elite troops of Kedu were equipped with such advanced tech.

Two soldiers positioned themselves in front of the princess, activating a rare energy shield. At that moment, the five mech warriors in the front launched a barrage of fire at the princess. The energy shield began to weaken rapidly under the continuous assault. One human soldier approached Yuwang's side, raised his own shield, and shouted, "Kid, this is the battlefield, don't just stand there!" Yuwang snapped to attention, realizing the mech army was quickly encircling them.

The advantage of the AI-controlled mech army lay in the fact that there were no commanders—every soldier shared intelligence and reacted with optimal calculations based on battlefield conditions. Now, seeing the elite human troops arrive, the mechs that had been attacking Eagle Eye City immediately turned to launch an assault on the princess. The intensity of the barrage increased as more mechs entered firing range, aiming their weapons at the princess's energy shield.

Meanwhile, the human soldiers used the opportunity to eliminate several mechs at the front. However, these intelligent mechs seemed to act strangely, ignoring other targets and focusing solely on the princess. Yuwang began to understand that the AI army's target was not Eagle Eye City, but the princess standing before them.

"Protect the princess!" the human commander shouted, and three more soldiers rushed to the princess's side, activating another energy shield. Within a second, the previous shield was completely depleted by the barrage, and two elite soldiers fell to the ground. Yet, the princess appeared unfazed…

The desert wind howled, and the battle raged on. From behind a large sand dune, two massive figures appeared, each towering over five meters. They locked their eyes on the princess, who nodded. The two giants stretched their arms to the sky and began chanting an incantation. The large collars around their necks glowed brightly... Suddenly, the calm weather shifted into a violent storm, and two tornadoes appeared on the battlefield, swiftly sweeping across the dunes, gathering sand to form two towering "sand giants" of 30 meters in height.

Despite their bulky appearance, the sand giants moved with surprising agility, charging toward the mech army, stomping and punching with devastating force, even crushing mechs like toys. In the blink of an eye, the tide of battle turned—over a hundred mechs were destroyed, and the remaining mechs, realizing they stood no chance, began to retreat in an orderly manner. However, the "sand giants" had limited attack range and could not prevent the mechs from escaping.

"Fall back!" the human commander ordered. The remaining eleven soldiers holstered their weapons and began to sweep the battlefield—burying their fallen comrades, salvaging useful weapons and parts from the destroyed mechs, and notifying the Eagle Eye City defense forces.

"This is boring. Those 'toys' were so weak. Father told me to be cautious, to shrink down and make myself harder to target. It's really suffocating!" With that, the princess muttered something under her breath while pointing her short staff at the sky. The staff glowed with purple light, and in an instant, she began to grow, reaching over three meters in height before stopping.

A desert transport vehicle appeared behind the dunes, and a man dressed in official robes stepped out. Seeing the princess return to her original form, he quickly said, "Princess, please, indulge us. It's safer for you to travel by vehicle in your smaller form!"

"Ambassador Nick is right. Those were just reconnaissance units from the Solar Empire. Princess, you should—" The human commander's words were cut off.

"Get out of my way, you little men. Our divine clan princess can do whatever she pleases!" one of the giants shouted.

"Yeah, I don't want to shrink again!" the other giant chimed in.

The princess ignored them and bent down, smiling at Yuwang. "Hello, you cute little person. What's your name?"

"Yuwang. What about you?" Yuwang replied, looking up.

The princess touched the necklace on her chest (a magical item that could translate languages and adjust speech to the corresponding language system) and thought for a moment. "You wouldn't understand my name in my language, so just call me Thalysis. I really like the oceans on this planet."

Yuwang, having heard some ancient myths from his mother when he was younger, recognized the name Thalysis. It referred to the Titaness, the goddess of the sea. His mother had mentioned many stories that had been lost to time, some of which he had stumbled upon in an ancient book as a child—stories that few people knew. He looked surprised (little did he know, her translation system could read the data in his brain).

Before Yuwang could ask anything, the princess turned away and spoke to the ambassador. "Your vehicle is too slow. Let's summon some flying dragons instead!"

The ambassador frantically waved his hands. "Princess, esteemed envoy, this is absolutely not advisable. The flying dragons are too large a target. Any large airborne objects will be detected by the Solar Empire, and you'll attract the entire empire's wrath!"

"If the sky is out of the question, then let's try this!" Without waiting for the ambassador's agreement, Thalysis chanted another incantation, "Ufe, Taka," and three enormous creatures tore through the air. The crowd gaped in awe—those were dinosaurs!

With a mighty roar, the dinosaurs crouched down, allowing the three giants to mount them, and then stood up, dashing away. Thalysis even turned back to Yuwang, flashing him a smile, and said, "Goodbye, little fisherman!"

Yuwang was even more baffled. How did she even know my nickname?

The ambassador and his entourage had no choice but to get into their vehicles and follow.

At that moment, Bei Yi and the others emerged from the cave and immediately spotted the distant dinosaurs and giants. "Holy crap, did we just time travel?" Bei Yi exclaimed.

Yuwang quickly explained what had just happened. Meanwhile, the city defense forces had arrived in large numbers to clean up the battlefield. Spotting an officer organizing tasks, Yuwang asked, "Report, sir. As you can see, the enemy has been repelled. Should we continue to seek reinforcements?"

The officer, after consulting with the nearby commander, ordered them to proceed to Blackstone City to prepare for a potential second assault, as the enemy had been stronger than expected. He provided them with desert motorcycles, and after receiving their orders, the four of them sped off, following the giant dinosaur tracks…
