Chapter 3: Chapter 3 He Family's Child-Raised Daughter-in-Law_1
When the village official asked He Zhongguo what name he would give the little girl, He Zhongguo was thinking about it when the little girl suddenly spoke.
"Zhilan!"
Seeing that all the adults were looking at her, the little girl decisively picked up the paper and pen on the table with her battered hand and wrote down these two characters, "Zhilan."
The village official laughed when he saw this, "Well done, Zhongguo, the girl you're raising is quite impressive. She's only six years old and already writes so beautifully!"
He Zhongguo was taken aback, thinking that Zhilan must be the girl's own name, so he agreed, "Let's follow the girl's preference then, we'll call her He Zhilan."
And so, the little girl got a new name, He Zhilan. This name was almost the most beautiful in every village around.
Although He Zhilan wasn't openly resentful at the He Family, she was cold to everyone in the household. In her heart, all child traffickers were villains, destined for hell.
He Zhongguo was a man who cared about children, even if it was a child bride bought by him. Seeing the child covered in scars, he didn't make her work.
A few days after He Zhilan arrived at the He Family, He Teng left the village to join the army. With He Zhongguo's doting presence, He Zhilan further flaunted her unruly, arrogant, domineering, and lazy nature. Even though the whole He Family tolerated her, she still despised them and hated the He Family to the core.
The He Family's treatment of He Zhilan was perplexing to the entire village. It was hard for them to fathom why He Zhongguo would show so much affection and allow such behavior for just a child bride.
Though He Zhilan was a person with a naughty nature, her academic performance was outstanding. After she started school, she always had the best grades in the school.
Maintaining the top position all the way, saying goodbye to elementary school and heading to high school, she finally received an acceptance letter from Capital University.
Yet, it was during the same summer she received the acceptance letter from Capital University that she was forced to marry He Teng, who was still serving in the army.
Eighteen-year-old He Zhilan still immensely hated the He Family. After being forced into marriage and having her body claimed by He Teng, which prevented her from going to university, this hatred completely overwhelmed her mind.
A month after the wedding, He Teng returned to the military, and she found an opportunity to take all the cash at home and run away.
He Zhilan never forgot her quest to find her biological family. Even though more than a decade had passed and her memory of her family was blurry, she still remembered that she was called Gu Zhilan, her father's surname was Gu, who was the greatest soldier in her heart, and her mother's surname was Lan. Hence, her name contained a character from both her parent's names. She also remembered, she was the Little Princess of the Gu Family!
Because of her biological parents, He Zhilan had always despised He Teng for joining the army. She felt that a child trafficker becoming a soldier was an insult to her father's profession, an insult to the military!
However, merely remembering her parents' names wasn't enough. After leaving the detestable He Family, He Zhilan traveled to many cities in search of her biological parents. Her search concluded the day she met a man who instantly captured her heart.
In He Zhilan's heart, He Teng did not deserve her at all. She was academically excellent with a bright future, and without the kidnapping, someone of He Teng's status wasn't even worthy of polishing her shoes. However, the man in a suit, whose conversation was humorous and elegant, instantly captured her heart upon his appearance.
