Stars of My Heart

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Talking about?

The next day, filming was intense and required all of Emily's concentration. However, as she waited for her next scene, she found herself distracted, her thoughts wandering to the night before with Matthew. The memory of their exchanged smiles and intimate conversations brought a warmth she couldn't ignore. The chemistry between them was evident, but there was something deeper there, something that made her thoughtful.

During a lunch break, Gabriele, her manager, sat down next to her. Gabriele always had a careful and attentive eye for Emily, and seemed to have noticed her different manner lately.

"You're thoughtful today," Gabriele commented, giving her an understanding smile. "Is everything okay?"

Emily hesitated, fiddling with her cutlery without much attention. "Oh, it's okay. I've just… been thinking a lot about some things."

Gabriele raised her eyebrows, watching her with that way of someone who knows more than she lets on. "About work or… about something else?" She gave him a playful look, but her voice was still gentle.

Emily laughed, shaking her head. "You're too perceptive, Gabriele. I think… it's a little bit of both."

"It's Matthew, isn't it?" Gabriele asked, laughing lightly. "You two have an interesting energy, you know?"

Emily sighed, biting her lip. "I don't even know what to think. He's… different. When I'm with him, I feel like I can be myself, without all this pressure from the world around us." She paused, trying to find the right words. "But at the same time, this is all so new to me. I never thought I would feel this way… and I'm trying to figure it out."

Gabriele smiled, leaning closer. "Emily, you don't have to understand everything right now. Sometimes, feeling is enough. If Matthew makes you feel good, trust that." She winked. "Just don't be afraid to explore what's inside you. Life is too short to ignore love."

Emily was silent for a moment, absorbing the businesswoman's words. She thought about how Matthew always seemed to see her beyond appearances, seeing her in her essence. Even though they both lived in intense worlds surrounded by expectations, he made her feel like they were alone, even in the middle of crowds.

Gabriele, watching her, smiled. "Sometimes, the best stories are the ones we never expected to live. And who knows, maybe this isn't yours?"

Emily smiled back, feeling relieved that she had shared some of her feelings. And as she walked back to the set, a small hope sparked in her heart. Maybe, just maybe, what she felt for Matthew was the beginning of something worth exploring.

Filming resumed with renewed energy, the crew diving back into creating Amara's story. Emily, now more centered and confident, felt her connection with the character grow stronger. The scene they were about to shoot required her to demonstrate vulnerability, reflecting on the losses and dilemmas in her life.

With the camera focused, Emily positioned herself on the set, an intimate café that represented a pivotal point in the plot. The soft light from the hanging lamps created a cozy atmosphere, but the emotional tension the character was experiencing was palpable.

The director called "Action!" and the scene began. Emily, playing Amara, had to confront a secondary character, played by an actor known for his fiery temper. The scene called for them to discuss the corruption Amara was investigating, but the intensity of the exchange quickly turned more personal.

"Do you think you can change something in this city? That you can make a difference?" the actor snapped, his sarcastic tone echoing across the set.

Amara, played by Emily, was visibly shaken, and she responded firmly. "Someone has to have the courage to act. If not us, who will?"

However, as emotions boiled over in the scene, the actor seemed to get carried away. He interrupted Emily, raising his voice and making a scene much more dramatic than necessary. "Courage? You're just trying to promote yourself, Amara! This is a farce!"

Tension instantly spread across the set, and the crew members exchanged worried glances. Emily, surprised by the reaction, decided not to let it get to her. Instead of backing down, she raised her voice, facing the actor. "You think I want this? I'm here for a reason, and I'm not going to let you delegitimize that."

The director, sensing that the situation was getting out of hand, yelled "Cut!" and quickly approached the two. "Hey, guys, let's calm down. We're all here to tell a story."

As the crew regrouped and the cameras were turned off, Emily took a deep breath, still shaken. She stepped back a little, trying to process what had happened. The actor, sensing her discomfort, moved closer, but his look was not apologetic.

"Sorry, I was just trying to bring emotion to the scene," he said, but his tone was defensive.

"Emotion isn't screaming," Emily replied firmly. "We don't need to create drama off-screen. We have a story to tell, and we can't let someone's ego ruin that."

With that, she walked away, looking for a quieter corner of the set. The tension had left a bitter taste, but at the same time, the experience had made her feel stronger. Her connection with her character was deepening, and she knew it was only making her a better actress.

While recovering from the confrontation, she received a text from Matthew: "How was your day? I hope you didn't let anything get to you!"

Her response was quick: "A little tense, but I'm fine. I'm focused on Amara. What are you doing?"

Matthew replied almost immediately: "Working at the company, but thinking about you. Good luck filming! You're going to rock."

Smiling at the message, Emily felt renewed. That connection, even from a distance, seemed to be a safe haven amidst the storm of emotions she was experiencing. She returned to the set determined to give it her all.

With the camera rolling again, the director positioned them for the next attempt at the scene. "Let's try this again, guys. And remember, we want authenticity, but with mutual respect."

This time, the energy shifted. Emily focused, channeling the tension from the previous scene into her performance. When the camera started rolling again, her voice was thick with emotion, but the fury had faded into soft determination.

"Someone has to have the courage to act. If not us, who will?" The line echoed around the set, and the crew, in silence, knew something special was happening. Emily's connection with Amara had solidified, and with each scene, her performance became more intense and authentic.

As the day drew to a close, Emily was exhausted but satisfied. The mood on set had changed, and everyone was excited about what they had created together.

As she left, she received encouraging messages from Gabriele, saying she was looking forward to seeing the results of the filming. And of course, Matthew also encouraged her, saying he couldn't wait to see the premiere of the film.

Emily smiled as she walked to her car. Despite the difficulties, she felt like she was getting closer to what she had always dreamed of.
