Chapter 230: Chapter 227
Early Morning!
Mina slowly opened her eyes and saw Lucas's handsome face. He was sleeping soundly, and she couldn't help but stare at him in a daze.
She was now his woman. Thinking about how gentle he had been last night made her feel shy, but also proud.
Yes, Mina never expected that her young master was also experiencing it for the first time. It took him some time to figure things out... like two rookies fumbling around together.
For the next half hour, Mina gazed at Lucas's face. Her eyes sparkled as if she thought of something amusing. She playfully picked up a strand of her hair and moved it toward Lucas's nose.
"Ha-choo..."
Lucas's nose twitched as he felt a tickle, and he sneezed. His sleepy black eyes slowly opened, only to see the cat-eared girl giggling at him with her hair in hand.
"Why are you up so early?" Lucas reached out and pulled the cat-eared girl into his arms, the soft sensation making his heart flutter.
"I just woke up too!" Mina blushed and whispered softly.
"Hmm!"
Lucas held the cat-eared girl, his eyes half-closed, enjoying the peace. But his hands... didn't stop moving.
"Mm... Young Master..."
"How about some morning practice?" Lucas chuckled softly, rolling over and taking action.
"...[a thousand words of indescribable events]..."
Forty minutes later, Lucas voluntarily ended the "battle"—Mina couldn't withstand his continuous "attacks."
"Huff..."
Lucas quietly held the cat-eared girl, who was savoring the afterglow of their moment. Last night, he had truly opened the door to a new world.
"Young Master, do you prefer boys or girls?" Mina asked lazily, her cheek pressed against Lucas's chest.
"I think it'll be a girl," Lucas smiled.
"Huh? Why?" Mina was surprised. Aren't most nobles more inclined to want boys? Why would he prefer a girl?
"Because girls are a father's little treasure. It's not that I don't like boys, but they're often too mischievous and troublesome," Lucas replied casually.
"Then I'll give you a baby girl!" Mina said shyly, even rubbing her stomach, her face filled with anticipation.
"Uh..." Lucas blinked in a daze. He couldn't exactly tell her that it was her "safe period," so pregnancy was unlikely.
Moreover, Lucas didn't want the cat-eared girl to have children too soon. For the past few years, Mina hadn't been eating well and was constantly hungry. Her body had become quite depleted, and it would take at least a year of proper nourishment to recover.
In modern terms, Mina was suffering from severe malnutrition during her adolescence. While it wasn't classified as an illness, if she didn't properly rebuild her health, her chances of conceiving were extremely low. Even if she did get pregnant, it might not result in a good outcome.
So Lucas had a plan. If he wanted children, he would wait until Mina was in her late twenties at the very least. After all, she was still too young, and with the current medical conditions in this world, he feared potential complications if she got pregnant too soon.
Another key consideration was that this delay would give him time to focus on developing his territory. By the time they had children, Lucas imagined he might already be a powerful figure, controlling a large domain.
From what Lucas knew, childbirth in this era, especially for commoners, was highly dangerous. The number of children who died each year was staggering, and even noblewomen didn't fare much better.
Most children born to commoners were prone to dying young due to malnutrition, disease, or other factors. There were also many cases of babies born with disabilities, a tragic result of poor health conditions.
"It seems I need to heavily invest in healthcare, and also train a few midwives. Otherwise, Sedona City's newborn rates won't improve." Lucas silently planned.
Of course, he wasn't going to share any of this with Mina or the others. If Mina knew, she would probably avoid him during her safe period because of her personality.
"Creaaak!"
The door opened, and Nicole entered with her face flushed, clearly embarrassed. She had overheard the sounds from outside.
"Ah!"
Mina quickly hid under the blanket in embarrassment, deciding she wouldn't leave the room all day to avoid being teased by Annie and the others.
"Good morning, Nicole!" Lucas rubbed his nose, a little surprised by Nicole's sudden entrance.
"Young Master, Mr. Max seeks an audience with you," Nicole replied softly, her face flushed, unable to meet Lucas's eyes. "He's been waiting in the living room for an hour already!"
"Uh... got it." Lucas gave Mina a light pat on her rear before rolling out of bed, slipping into his clothes without a care, and heading off to freshen up.
Nicole quickly turned her head away, her face growing even redder as she caught a glimpse of little Lucas, which left her feeling flustered.
"Make sure Mina gets some chicken soup, with plenty of red dates." Lucas instructed before leaving.
"The kitchen's already preparing it." Nicole responded softly.
"Alright, I'll head out now!" Lucas said as he left, knowing the two girls would want to have a private conversation.
Once Lucas was gone, the atmosphere became much more relaxed. Nicole gently lifted the blanket, revealing Mina's head. Watching her cat ears twitch, Nicole smiled and teased, "So, how was it?"
"What?" Mina blinked her blue eyes, momentarily not understanding.
"I meant... how did it "feel"?" Nicole rolled her eyes, clarifying.
"Uh... it hurt a little at first, but then..." Mina trailed off, her face turning as red as the evening sky.
"Really?" Nicole pulled out a small notebook, diligently collecting this valuable information.
"Huh? Nicole, what are you writing down?" Mina asked, looking confused.
"Of course, it's... you know, "experience" for that kind of thing," Nicole replied, not lifting her head, her face still flushed but her hands moving quickly.
"What?! Nicole, how can you do this?" Mina exclaimed in embarrassment, feeling utterly mortified by the situation.
"Annie asked me to do this, not my own idea," Nicole's eyes gleamed mischievously as she gave a sly smile.
"What? That perverted fox girl again!" Mina gritted her teeth, feeling an overwhelming urge to go and challenge Annie to a duel.
"Mina? You're not up yet?"
Annie's voice echoed from the hallway, causing both Mina and Nicole to freeze in place. It was almost as if thinking about her had summoned her.
Soon, Annie's fox ears peeked around the doorway before she dashed inside, holding a notebook of her own. "Mina, can you tell me about how it felt?" she asked eagerly.
"What?" Mina stiffened, her eyes involuntarily darting toward Nicole. This question sounded all too familiar.
"Hehe... I'll go check on the chicken soup!" Nicole gave a nervous chuckle, quickly stashing away her notebook before making a hasty exit.
"Mina, come on, tell me all about "that"!" Annie grinned mischievously, climbing onto the bed.
"No way, you pervert!" Mina cried out, squirming under the covers, trying to escape Annie's persistent questioning.
