Superpowers in the Marvel World

Chapter 34: Chapter 34

"Let's throw our clothes out together to divert their fire, then find an opportunity to counterattack!"

After carefully scanning his surroundings for a long time, the Punisher couldn't come up with a better solution to escape the current crisis. Left with no other choice, he proposed the simplest yet riskiest plan to Hit-Girl.

The strategy was straightforward and frequently seen in action or gunfight films. However, precisely because it was so common, its chances of being seen through were alarmingly high. Success or death—either outcome was equally likely!

"Got it, let's do it!"

Hit-Girl agreed enthusiastically, unfazed by the Punisher's dangerous suggestion. Having grown up experiencing countless gunfights and perilous situations alongside her father, she had long since become desensitized to the fear of death.

In this moment of profound crisis, Hit-Girl even felt a flicker of excitement.

"Alright, let's get ready!"

With a decisive nod, she quickly tore off the cape draped over her shoulders. With a sharp ripping sound, she split it into two halves and handed one to the Punisher.

"Thanks."

The Punisher accepted the piece of the cape with a word of gratitude. Unlike Hit-Girl, who sported a flashy and conspicuous outfit, he wore specialized tactical gear with some bulletproof functionality. If she hadn't shared her cape, he would've been forced to use his combat uniform as a decoy, a thought that filled him with dread.

"Go!"

Once armed with the makeshift decoys, the Punisher and Hit-Girl simultaneously threw the fabric to opposite sides, while launching themselves upward in a burst of speed. Four handguns fired relentlessly, aiming to suppress their enemies.

The gunmen, who had so successfully pinned down the duo earlier, were momentarily thrilled to see movement. With newfound energy, they shifted their aim toward the thrown decoys, unleashing a torrent of bullets.

Predictably, the hail of gunfire struck nothing but fabric. Before the gunmen could react, Hit-Girl and the Punisher's bullets tore through the air, catching them completely off guard.

"Arghhhhh!"

Screams rang out in rapid succession, each marking another gunman falling out of commission.

Hit-Girl and the Punisher were both unparalleled sharpshooters, masters of dual-wielding firearms. In mere moments, their coordinated assault took down seven or eight gunmen. Realizing their disadvantage, the remaining enemies scattered, seeking cover while retaliating haphazardly.

Amid the cacophony of gunfire, Hit-Girl unleashed a storm of bullets with wild abandon. Her exhilaration was evident, even as the Punisher called out a warning.

"Hit-Girl, stay cautious—"

Unfortunately, she was too caught up in the thrill to heed his words.

"Click!"

The telltale sound of an empty magazine interrupted her spree. Reaching for a fresh clip, she froze upon discovering that her ammunition was completely spent.

"She's out of bullets! Now's our chance!"

Seizing the opportunity, the gunmen redirected their fire, splitting into two groups. One group laid down suppressive fire to keep the Punisher at bay, while the other aimed directly at the now-vulnerable Hit-Girl.

"Damn it, I really screwed up this time!"

Hit-Girl muttered in frustration, throwing herself toward a nearby piece of cover. She knew that whether she lived or died would be decided in the next instant.

Just as the gunmen's sneers turned to action—

"Boom!"

The wall behind them exploded in a shower of rubble.

A figure burst through the debris, sword in hand. The gleaming blade cut through the darkness like a flash of lightning, its brilliance blinding.

"Shhhk-shhhk-shhhk!"

The sound of slicing filled the air as the blade carved effortlessly through flesh.

In mere moments, over a dozen heads were sent flying, followed by geysers of blood spraying into the air like fountains. Without pausing, the figure spun gracefully, unleashing another devastating slash.

The remaining gunmen, still reeling from the sudden explosion, felt a chill at their throats. Before they could even process what was happening, their vision inverted, and consciousness faded into oblivion.

"Impossible…"

Two strikes.

Just two strikes had obliterated the entire group of gunmen who had moments ago overwhelmed both Hit-Girl and the Punisher.

"Still alive, aren't you?"

The figure stopped, speaking in a calm yet sharp tone that reached both Hit-Girl and the Punisher's ears.

"You couldn't have shown up after we were dead?" Hit-Girl snapped, glaring at him with a mixture of relief and annoyance. Her voice carried a note of resentment as she called his name. "Alex, the Unreliable!"

Indeed, the one who had shattered through the wall and turned the tide was none other than Alex.

After consuming the corpses of the gunmen, Alex's blood-red eyes glowed faintly. Though he hadn't developed any new abilities, his existing ones had significantly improved. For instance, his Eagle Vision, which had previously been limited to a range of 2,000 meters, now extended up to 5,000 meters—an increase of one and a half times.

Using his enhanced vision, Alex had observed Hit-Girl and the Punisher's predicament. He had charged in, cutting through walls and obstacles with ease, arriving just in time to save them.

What he hadn't anticipated was Hit-Girl's sharp tongue even in the face of salvation.

"Women and petty people are hard to deal with—Confucius was truly a sage," Alex mused inwardly, trying to suppress his irritation.

The Punisher, meanwhile, was left speechless by Hit-Girl's attitude. He couldn't help but wonder about the mentor who had raised such a… unique individual.

Suddenly, the corpses of the gunmen began to twitch. Before their wide-eyed gaze, the bodies disintegrated into countless particles, swirling like iron filings drawn to a magnet. The particles coalesced and rushed toward Alex's glowing red eyes, disappearing into them.

Moments later, Alex tilted his head back slightly. Every last particle had been absorbed into his body, leaving no trace behind.

"What… what is this…"
