Thane Astris: The Starborn Wizard

Chapter 9: 9) A Dream Takes Flight

Thane was determined to ease any financial concerns his parents might have. He didn't want them to feel constrained in any way. Internally, he made a silent promise to himself—he would do whatever it took to ensure his parents could live a life without ever having to worry about money again.

James and Amelia nodded, recognizing the wisdom in Thane's words. Before James spoke, he looked at his son with a thoughtful expression. "If you have any more scripts, how about showing them to me now?"

Amelia's eyes brightened at the suggestion, and she looked at Thane expectantly. "Yes, show us, darling. We'd love to see what you've been working on."

Thane hesitated for a moment, thinking about which scripts to show them, before answering, "Alright, I've got two more scripts. The first one has a major role for Mom and a minor one for me. It's called Mrs. Doubtfire."

He handed them the script, then continued, "The second film is called Ghost. It's got a major role for Mom, and I think it's something special. But, Dad, I want you to focus more on Ghost. It has potential similar to The Sixth Sense. The other one is more in line with Home Alone."

James took the scripts, nodding thoughtfully. "Ghost... sounds intriguing. I'll take a good look at it."

Thane, feeling the weight of his future decisions, added, "I know I won't have time to shoot more films after The Sixth Sense, so I wrote these scripts with Mom in mind. For myself, I've been focused on writing songs that I can record during summer break."

Amelia smiled warmly, touched by the care Thane had taken to create roles for her. "You always think of us first, sweetheart. We'll give these scripts our full attention."

As they exchanged a few more words, the atmosphere shifted from excitement to quiet anticipation. Thane and Amelia could feel the weight of the moment—the anticipation of their hard work paying off. Soon, they found themselves sitting together on the sofa, their nerves creeping in. James, however, was still focused on the phone, speaking with his assistant. The room grew silent, the only sound being James's voice as everyone awaited the crucial box office data from the first weekend of Home Alone's release in North America.

"HOW MUCH!! Are you absolutely sure? Check it for me one more time..." James asked, unable to hide the shock in his voice. "YES!! Yes, yes... let's talk later." He quickly ended the call, his face breaking into a grin as he rushed over to kiss Amelia in sheer joy.

"Haha, Amy, you won't believe it..." James started, his words bubbling with excitement.

"James Astris!! We're all waiting for it, so out with it—fast!" Amelia interrupted, her impatience matching the energy in the room.

"Sorry, sorry..." James laughed, finally blurting it out. "16.5 million. Amy, can you believe that?"

"Ahhhhh!!" Amelia screamed in excitement like a little girl, throwing her arms around James before pulling Thane into a tight hug, showering him with kisses.

While she had seen big numbers before, this was different—it was Thane's first movie, and that made the achievement feel all the more incredible. Her joy was overwhelming, a mixture of pride and pure excitement.

Thane knew that the result was slightly less than what he had achieved in his previous life, but considering that the film wasn't released by one of the big six studios, it was still an impressive outcome. The numbers exceeded everyone's expectations.

He wasn't worried in the slightest. Thane knew that word of mouth would keep the momentum going, propelling the film to even greater heights as time passed.

The unexpected success of Home Alone didn't just surprise James and Amelia—it sent ripples through the industry. Even the top bosses were caught off guard. The team behind Three Men and a Baby had initially been concerned about the competition with Home Alone, and now, seeing the unexpected success of Thane's film, they were seriously worried. In fact, they decided to postpone the release of their own film by another week, fearing the box office battle with Home Alone might intensify.

In just seven days, Home Alone earned an impressive 28 million dollars. By the second weekend, Home Alone saw a stunning 40% increase in ticket sales, as families flocked to see the film again. By the end of the month, it had become a cultural phenomenon, crossing the 150-million-dollar mark. The film's success was fueled by an extraordinary amount of positive word of mouth, with audiences flocking to see it multiple times.

This overwhelming success catapulted Thane into the ranks of an A-list child star, with his popularity soaring to new heights. His name became synonymous with talent and potential, and the recognition he garnered opened doors to even more opportunities.

The success of Home Alone also had a ripple effect on James and Amelia's careers. James found himself sought after for new ventures and collaborations, while Amelia's talents were increasingly recognized in the industry. The entire family had been propelled to a new level of success, all thanks to the massive hit that was Home Alone.
