Chapter 5 - The Misfortunes Continue.
I waited until the sun rose before heading to their location.
“Hey, how’s it going, Gil?” I called out.
“You must be prepared,” he retorted.
“That’s your problem. If you’re shouting from there, it means you couldn’t get out. You’ll be stuck in that hole until you die unless I decide to let you out,” I replied before moving on.
“Good morning, Yodo. How’s your mood today? You were quite spirited back at the guild,” I said.
Suddenly, a fireball flew towards me.
“Do you think you can escape from that hole, Yodo? If you kill me, starvation is your only certainty.”
“Shut up! Just get out, you damn brat,” he cursed.
“How’s it going, Nayya? You probably never thought the person you were bullying would learn magic, huh?” I taunted.
“Come on, Kaito, I’m sorry. Can you let me out?” Nayya pleaded.
“You’re really foolish, too. Do you think a simple apology is enough after stealing and beating someone who gathered herbs?” I retorted. “If apologies could solve everything, we wouldn’t need the police!” I added, but then I remembered that there were no police in this world. (Hehehe)
“I’ll repay you properly for everything I’ve taken from you. Now die slowly,” I said, leaving the air hole small and walking away.
I maximized my ability to sense their presence and searched the surroundings. If wild animals appeared, I would continue my reclusive life, hiding from them.
On the 5th day, I checked on them. Yodo was the weakest and kept repeating apologies. The other two were in similar conditions, but they had a bit more energy left.
On the 8th day, Yodo, crying, begged me to help him, promising to do anything. I made him give up all his equipment except for his pants and released him. I told him he could either die attacked by wild beasts or go back to town with just his pants on. He cried, realizing he couldn’t return home but was free to choose.
Gil and Nayya, the remaining two, met the same fate as Yodo. Nayya, like Yodo, was stripped of everything except his pants and expelled. Before expelling him, I showed Kaito Nayya wearing just his underwear.
On the 10th day, Gil finally understood the seriousness of the situation and apologized. When I told him to give up all his equipment, he attacked me unexpectedly. I ignored him.
On the 13th day, Gil apologized again, but I told him to surrender his equipment first and left him alone. On the 14th day, Gil handed over all his equipment, so I released him, leaving him completely naked.
I let Gil leave, but he probably wouldn’t make it back to town. There was a goblin horde nearby. I stood in a position where Goblins were on Gil’s path, throwing stones toward them. The goblin group noticed and headed toward Gil. The first encounter would be Gil, who was completely naked.
Namu Amida Butsu.

Several Days Later:
Before Yodo could reach the town, he encountered a group of adventurers. He pleaded for help, but due to past grudges, they brutally slaughtered him.
The adventurers who killed Yodo reported that his body was covered in cuts. They refused to retrieve the body and were instead celebrating with a toast at the guild’s cafeteria.
Nayya’s fate was even more tragic. When the adventurers found Nayya, they tied him up with his hands behind his back and his legs bound, leaving him abandoned in the forest.

After settling the matter with the three, I returned to my original campsite the next day.
During these thirteen days, I wasn’t just playing around with them. I collected herbs from the vicinity and worked on enhancing my magic.
My spatial storage expanded to a diameter of two meters. With Stone Arrows, I could shoot around 65 arrows at a distance of 40 meters. In teleportation magic, I could jump up to 150 meters three times, 60 meters seven times, and 20 meters twenty-two times. Now, there was no entrance or exit to the dome; I entered and exited using teleportation magic.
However, if I were to escape, I’d need to jump at least three times the current distance, and I’d prefer to jump around ten times. In actual combat, if I jumped five times, my magic would be halved, so it was risky to use for both escape and confrontation.
Jumping the maximum distance instantaneously was impossible. I also couldn’t jump to unknown places because I had to be familiar with the location.
Jumping upwards seemed to be the best option if I needed to escape momentarily. There were likely no obstacles in the sky, but if I were unlucky, I might collide with birds. I didn’t want to try and see what would happen.
First, I would jump up and survey the area before moving on to the next jump. With two jumps, I should at least have enough time to rise to a hundred meters. The current maximum jump of 150 meters three times wouldn’t be enough to escape in extreme situations.
I needed more magic!
I returned to my comfortable dome and took a break. I had plenty of food, and I had collected firewood while dealing with Yodo and the others. I couldn’t hoard indiscriminately due to storage limitations, but firewood had a lower priority, so having a reasonable amount was good enough.
I had put a lot of effort into this place, so it felt like home. The underground bedroom was like a capsule hotel, and there was a small fireplace and firewood storage in the six-mat living room. There was also a bed in the lookout point above ground, but it was there for when my magic ran out.
My days were now consumed with practicing Stone Arrows and teleportation jumps. When my magic was low, I checked the time, used it all at once, and collapsed.
Oh, how quickly I fell asleep. I’d wake up after about five hours with my magic replenished, although sometimes I’d sleep for ten hours. I justified it by saying I was young and could sleep as much as I wanted.
The day I needed to visit Lord mansion was approaching, so I decided to head to the town. Currently, my spatial storage could hold a ball slightly over 2.4 meters in diameter.
I could jump 180 meters five times and 60 meters fifteen times. If I jumped 20 meters, I could easily do it forty-five times, but counting was a hassle. Jumping 5 to 10 meters didn’t reduce my magic by half even after fifty jumps.
Now, whenever I encountered goblins, I could circle around them with a jump and stab them with a dirt spear. Thanks to this, I could go herb picking even in the shallow parts of the forest.
The pleasant thing was that along with my increased magic, my ability to sense presences had also improved. I no longer had to fear beasts as much as before. Of course, in a fight, I was sure to lose and die, but having the time to run away and dig holes in the ground gave me some leeway.

**A Few Days Later:**
I woke up slowly, and as the sun rose higher, I set off towards Egudora.
As I walked on the road toward Egudora’s town, there was a commotion behind me. I turned around to see a group of hooligans wielding whips charging towards me.
I hurriedly moved to the side of the road, but a few meters away, one of the wheels of their carriage broke off, and it veered towards me.
I couldn’t help but think this was like a scene from an action movie. I desperately jumped out of the way as the carriage crashed, making a loud noise as it passed me.
In every world, there were idiots. But if they got hurt, how would they be taken care of? Did they have unlimited accident insurance? I muttered to myself while getting up. The overturned carriage was right next to me, and I couldn’t see the coachman.
The horses also seemed to have fled when the carriage overturned, and I couldn’t see them either. Well, this discomforting feeling meant… it had happened. I quickly built a fort and barricaded myself in.
One disaster after another. Now it was a pack of Black Wolves. Had they been chased here after escaping the accident?
I holed up and cautiously shot Stone Arrows at the wolves through a hole. They yelped and ran away, but I hadn’t managed to kill them. One managed to escape, and it was still wandering around.
The arrows were too small, so I changed them into Stone Lances, 1.5 meters long and 5 centimeters thick. I shot the wounded wolf again. Its yelps were the same, but it fell and twitched, so it was effective.
I continued shooting at the surrounding wolves. After killing nine of them, the rest fled.
I checked the surroundings, ensured it was safe, and then left the fort.
Now, where was the coachman? The carriage had tilted to the right, so he should have been thrown to the right, but…
I found him in the bushes near the overturned carriage. His neck was bent at an odd angle, and his head was sunken.
No helmet or seat belt, huh? Japanese common sense crossed my mind.
Inside the carriage, I heard the clattering of horseshoes. There were six knights in matching armor and attire.
“You there, what are you doing? Get down!” one of them shouted.
“Stop! Don’t you see he’s been saved?” a bearded man stopped him.
“Check on the young lady! Is she safe?” he said to another knight.
“The young lady is unharmed. But the maids are injured,” the knight replied.
“Kid, how far is it from here to the town?” the bearded man asked.
“From here, it’s about a two-hour walk,” I replied.
The two knights were sent to the town, and he ordered them to bring back an escort and another carriage. He also instructed them to bring potions since we had run out.
I could see they were all injured, probably from using up their potions.
“Sorry, but can you help us guard the carriage and the escort when they arrive?” he asked.
I couldn’t refuse in this situation, so I nodded silently.
