Chapter 3: Chains of submission
Soren
By the time we reached the estate, Rowan's silence had become as heavy as the chains that bound him. I could see his resolve, the stubborn set of his jaw, the fire flickering in his eyes that told me he was not here out of submission.
No, Rowan wanted to pay off his father's debt and leave. Fine by me. Let him think he's here just for that. There's much more to discover about this young alpha than he seemed to realize.
I stepped out of the car and gave a curt nod to the guard holding Rowan's chain. "Bring him inside. To my quarters."
The guard jerked the chain, pulling Rowan forward. He kept his gaze fixed somewhere beyond me, refusing to meet my eyes. Good. Let him keep his distance, for now.
Inside, I walked behind them, admiring the view of my new pet. Nobody said a word as they marched to the room, The air was thick with power, a heavy reminder of my position in this house, in this life. We arrived at my bedroom, a massive space with high ceilings, dominated by a bed as dark and imposing as everything else around me.
"Put him at the foot of the bed," I ordered, voice casual, as if Rowan's presence here was the most ordinary thing in the world. I felt his gaze finally shift to me, and there was a simmering question in his eyes, but he said nothing. Good.
They dropped him and left, he glared at me but he was unable to do anything, his hands were untied but he knew he wouldn't get out of this with force.
I settled into a leather chair across the room, eyeing him. "Strip."
"What?"
I motioned to his clothes with a finger, "you heard me, I said, strip."
He hesitated, his shoulders tensing, and I could feel the war playing out behind his vacant gaze. But then he reached up and pulled his shirt over his head in one swoop, exposing smooth, taut muscle and skin that glowed in the dim light.
He removed his pants, his expression unreadable, standing there in nothing but a pair of briefs, he had that confident stance.
I leaned back, letting my gaze linger, my mind quietly assessing every inch of him. He's impressive, physically, yes, but more than that. His pride was intact, even in the face of all this. And yet, despite the sight before me, something…disappointed me. His body remained utterly unmoved, no trace of any reaction.
Interesting.
Usually when Alphas are in the presence of omegas, they can't seem to control themselves or their pheromones.
I kept my face composed, though, my lips quirked in a taunting smile as I tilted my head to study him. "Not exactly what I expected from an alpha," I said with a touch of mockery, trying to get a rise out of him.
Rowan's gaze hardened. "Save it. You can do whatever you like, but I'll never be attracted to you."
The words hit me sharper than I'd expected, though I kept my expression calm. But there was something in the flatness of his tone, the way he dismissed me that raked under my skin. I had never been dismissed like that, like my presence meant nothing.
Fine, he wanted to keep his distance? I'll make sure he realizes the difference between endurance and true submission.
I reached for the chain and gave it a firm tug, bringing him stumbling forward to his knees in front of me. His fists clenched, but he didn't resist. Good. Obedience, even unwilling, is still obedience.
"Crawl," I commanded, and watched as his pride forced him to comply, his body moved with a grace even now as he inched closer.
Finally, he knelt at my feet. There was fire in his eyes, a simmering loathing I found almost thrilling.
Leaning forward, I reached out, and ran a finger over his chest, tracing the outline of a nipple, watching for any sign of reaction. He scowled, muscles tensing under my touch, but he gave me nothing, and the scowl deepened the longer I toyed with him.
I sighed, pulling back. "Stubborn to the last, aren't you?" I murmured, almost to myself, as I rose to my feet, leaving him where he knelt, still chained. It's almost…admirable, how much restraint he had, how tightly he's holding himself back. "It's okay, I will fix you,"
I stepped out of the room, shutting the door behind me, I'm immediately ambushed by Rudolf, his usual look of disbelief almost made me want to laugh.
He hovered around me till I sighed, "what is it, Rudolf? I don't want to believe you waited for me because you cared,"
"Do you think bringing him here was a good idea?" he asked, I could sense the alarm in his tone. He was still shocked that I brought the Alpha here.
I shrugged and brushed off his question. "He has a debt to pay, and his father left him behind to make up for it. The boy can stay until he's worked it off."
Rudolf frowned, casting a wary glance back at my closed door. "You don't know what he's capable of. The father might have been careless, but the son... he's an alpha, and by the look of him, a strong one. He might not have a rank or a pack but he is an Alpha."
"I'm well aware," I said, brushing past him toward the car waiting in the drive. I'm not about to explain my motivations to Rudolf, or to anyone else for that matter. Rowan would learn his place here, or he'll break. And either way, I'll have my payment.
"Just…be careful," Rudolf muttered as I reached for the car door. His worry was almost touching. Almost.
I turned, giving him a pointed look. "Since when have I needed your warnings?"
Rudolf sighed, resigned, as I slid into the car, shutting out his lingering concerns along with his pitiful looks. As the car pulled away, my mind drifted back to Rowan, his pride, his resistance, his disgust. The very things I intended to shatter.
Till he was completely mine.
