The Ancestral Power

Chapter 15: The Return To The Mansion

Arthur gets dressed, looking over at the still-sleeping Savúl. He scratches his head and wonders if the last night's event will change their general relationship. Trying to put his mind onto different matters, he decides to finally decide which ability he's going to choose

----

[Shop] - Current EXP: 160

Ability - 100 EXP

----

Currently, there is only one option, though he wonders if he may unlock more later. Sitting down in a chair in the room, he clicks the option and a new menu pops up.

----

Abilities - AP: 1 (AP = Ability Points)

[Arachnid ability]

[Godly ability]

[General ability]

----

His eyes glide over the different choices he could make. An arachnid ability would probably be for the best, due to it being the thing he relies on the most, but what would a godly ability be, more healing, or something offensive?

He looks over to the last option, what does 'general ability' even mean? His brows furrow as he finally makes up his mind. Tapping the arachnid ability

----

Arachnid Abilities - AP:1

Arachnid Communication - 1 AP

Arachnid Reflexes - 1 AP

Toxin Generation - 1 AP

Healing Web - 1 AP

----

Arthur's eyes light up at the different types of abilities.

"Can I get a description of each?" He says excitedly.

----

To receive info of an ability, you must possess it

----

His eyes quickly die down again, while pondering his choices. "Arachnid Reflexes", "Healing Web", and "Toxin Generation" Speak for themselves. But what does Arachnid communication do? Can he... Speak to spiders, how would that help him in combat? After a bit of grumbling, he decides to pick the reflexes

----

Ability purchased - Arachnid Reflexes

Heightens the user's reflexes to a supernatural level, granting them lightning-fast reactions and agility akin to an arachnid.

----

Satisfied with the ability he chose, he brings up his stats.

As if on cue, he can feel all his hair stand on edge. Something is coming towards him, quickly he turns around and grabs an arm, feeling... soft skin? In front of him is Savúl, still in just her underwear. She flinches slightly at his fast reaction

"Sorry if I startled you Verlachó," She says, with blushing cheeks and averting eyes.

Arthur quickly lets her arm go, trying his absolute best, and failing to not look at her body.

"It's alright Savúl... Hey, about yester-" He quickly starts before being interrupted by a kiss.

"Don't worry about it, Verlachó" She says, quite tenderly as if to relieve his every worry. Still, Arthur feels a bit of guilt growing in his stomach, but he's not sure why.

Quickly trying to change the subject, Arthur begins once more "W-What does Verlachó even mean?"

She chuckles at the inquiry, before smiling to him. "It means baby boy, we use it when we are talking about inexperienced men... Although I guess that no longer includes you" She winks, before picking up her clothes one by one and putting them on.

Arthur breathes a sigh of relief that the 'tension' ended. He decides to go stand by the door, waiting for Savúl. "Ready to go when you are," He says while tightening the straps on his backpack. She steps up next to him and they both head out of the hotel. Heading southwest towards their base.

--

A bit after leaving the city, they finally begin their mild trudge through the woods. Halfway through they come across a path, leading to a relatively cozy walk the rest of the way.

"Arthur, why are you so nervous? Tell me it's not because of yesterday." She says, with a worried expression. As if his next answer could change their dynamic.

Arthur starts, hesitantly "I don't know... I have this feeling of guilt, but I'm unsure why..." He manages to breathe out as if there's something he isn't remembering something, or someone... He feels that his memories are hazy as if there's a block somewhere... He quickly dismisses it for later.

Savúl looks even more worried now, as if what he said only added to her worries, but she decides to not press further.

They continue walking in relative silence, with Savúl having a harder time catching up to Arthur than usual "Damn kid, why are you in such a rush?"

Arthur barely registering it, looks at her strangely. "Am I not keeping the same speed as usual?"

She returns the strange look, "You're walking about twice as fast for crying out loud!"

Arthur looks confused for a second but then remembers that he recently got a buff in that department, quickly he responds "Must have been the wind... You know, got the wind in my back" He says hurridly while slowing his pace.

They cross the edge of the forest, entering the edge of their destination, in front of them. A huge dark wood mansion stood proud and tall, with gold and red accents. Smooth basalt covered the top of the mansion, serving as a beautiful roof, as black as night.

"We're here," Arthur says, with a tone of familiarity.
