The Angel That Became Obsessed With The Most Superior Human

Chapter 2: A New Purpose In Life

After the angels stares of admiration had calmed down, a odd sense of lacking purpose was in the air. What were they supposed to do now, the angel thought. With her new role, she would have a new purpose in life aswell. She knew that... But despite that knowledge, she didn't know what her new purpose would be exactly. So, she just asked in a calm and formel tone.

"Young Master, I was wondering, what we'll do now? Normally I'd judge over you now, and decide whether you go to heaven, hell or if you'll be reincarnated. But I believe that I am no longer in the position to judge over you, as I now lack such authority over you."

She, despite her eyes still being full of admiration, had a serious look on her face. What ever her young master would responds would be her new order to follow. So, naturally she was a little nervous. But she also had an unconditinal faith into him. So what ever his responds would be, it would be her plesure to obey.

While he did think for a moment, he seemed to know what to say already..

"I have multiple things I wanna ask you first, before I decide on anything. Firstly, since you are an angel, I take it is safe to assume that god exists aswell?"

While she looked suprised by that question, she answered with no hesitation.

"Yes, that is correct. Why do you ask, Young Master?"

Yamato looked away for a moment, looking slightly annoyed. But that look disappeared just as quickly as it appeared.

"I see… Well, to my next question. As an angel, what exactly can you do? As in, are there any abilities or strengths I should know about?"

She got exited when he asked about her abilities. She was happy since it meant he was interested in her as a person. She wanted to make him proud. So, she started to talk about herself.

"I am so glad you asked, Young Master! I, Hikari Yuki, am the angel directly under god, and therefore posses correspondingly strong skills! Skills such as summoning the Sacred Time Sword!"

He looked at her with an nonchalant, indifferent facial expression.

"...Okay. So?"

She was devastated by him not being amazed for a moment. But then continued again with enthusiasm.

"...Young Master, I apologise. I forgot that you wouldn't know what that would be. Let me explain. The Sacred Time Sword is a sword that can hit its target before it is even swung. It does so by cutting through time and hitting in the past, so you still have to make the swing, but it will be like an invisible force that hits you where the sword would land once it attacks."

Yamato looked intrigued by that but still showed a rather nonchalant facial expression.

"I see the value in that... Can you use it freely of does it have any restrictions?"

She hesitated slightly but then spoke a little ashamed of herself.

"Well... Young Master, you see... I can only use it for about two minutes... because otherwise I can't control the sword any longer. I'm so very sorry for disappointing you so badly!"

Yamato just looked at her with a neutral facial expression.

"I see… that's alright. I suppose much longer won't be necessary anyway. But maybe we can try to increase that time frame somehow later."

She looked relieved at that and nodded happily.

"Of course! Thank you so much, Young Master. Anyway, I apologise for the repetition, but I noticed that when you asked about the existence of god earlier, you didn't answer my question when I asked you about why you wanted to know about god."

"I wanna talk to god."

Her eyes open wide in shock.

"Young Master... meet God?! But... this isn't... well, it isn't impossible... but he doesn't meet every person. Only those who are the most devout believers and pray the most, those whose faith is the greatest..."

"…Okay. Tell me about god."

She thought for a moment.

"God is the omnipotent creator of the universe. He is the supreme ruler, the master of all beings and the final judge of our souls. His wisdom and benevolence are beyond human comprehension. He is the source of all light and goodness, and his ultimate goal is to protect and guide humanity towards salvation. However, to show his trust and love towards his angels, he dosn't observe us in heaven. So he dosn't know we talk right now. He also dosn't see into the future because he thinks it makes him try to control the way of things."

Yamato just looked at her seeming a bit bored of that long speech. Then he replied in a calm tone.

"Aha… I feel like he has to die… That just seems natural to me for some reason."

She blinks at him a few times. Staring at him for atleast a few minutes. Only managing to stutter out one word.

"...w-what?"

"Probably by driving him into suicide."

At first she thought she missheard him. But that didn't seem to be the case. She was flabbergasted by his bluntness. But then she remembered that he became like that right after she mentioned that god couldn't hear them. So, was he planning something like that from the start but didn't say anything because he thought god would maybe listen to it? She didn't know. But she needed to understand what he was even talking about. So she tried to ask for clarification.

"You're... trying to make God want to kill himself? That's... so ridiculous. God is immortal and invincible, and no one can harm him or take his life."

He answered quickly as it being prepared for that question.

"But he can defeat himself. If he can't harm himself, he's not of infinite strength. Which would make him not almighty, right?"

Againc she was flabbergasted... This time by not his bluntness... But his evil nature.

"You actually have a good point there... but trying to persuade God into killing himself? That is… isn't he supposed to be all love? How could he ever even think about something like that…?"

In his usually coldness he responded.

"His 'all love' is the reason as to why he'll think of something such as suicide."

She is shocked and stays still for a moment. Then she blinks several times.

"I'm sorry, I'm not really following…"

"A being of all love has a weakness easily found, sympathy. A person that is completely selfless and loves everything immeasurably would fear the misery of others most."

"Okay, I got that. But I still don't see how that knowledge helps us make god kill himself?"

"Humanity is a symbol of hope to god, as he created it in his image and gave them free will in order to let them form identity and meaning. You can go as far and conclude that god identifies on some level with humanity and their actions. Thus, threatening humanity is just like threatening god. His source of happiness. His meaning of life, if you will. Therefore would the absence of humanity raise the chances of him committing suicide or maybe fall in a deep depression. Going under the assumption that he is 'all love' and selfless to his core. Nothing of that works if he only sees humanity as an experiment or way to kill time, as that would probably imply a lack of empathy. That would be the opposite of all love."

It takes her a few seconds to analyze it, but then she nods. He is actually not wrong about it, but the plan itself is still crazy.

"Yes... the absence of humanity would certainly raise the chances of him committing suicide, but how are you going to destroy the entire human race? You speak of threatening humanity and its absence, but isn't that conditional to your ability to actually go through with it?"

"Isn't that what I have you for?"

"Uhm… Well, technically I could… But that's nothing god wouldn't know how to prevent, y'know? He could just recreate it too, even of I were to succeed."

"Ah, Well, that makes sense. Let's just forget that whole thing then.

She looked flabbergasted at him. Not knowing how to react. After all, he just casually talked her into trying to bring god into suicide with him. Just to not do it and throw the idea away. She didn't understand him at all. But that was what she loved most about him. That she couldn't predict his brilliancy. When thinking she understood something, she actually just followed a mood of his. Maybe this was all just a joke to him. A way to kill time. He didn't behave like a fifteen year old at all, she thought. No, he didn't really behave like a human any age. But she didn't mind that. All she would do is accept whatever path he chose. So, she just noded in responds. Unable to properly respond. Which lead Yamato to continue talking.

"I seriously doubt the greatness of the god you once followed. But I'm open for a suprise too… Either way, we talked enough. Can you bring me to him right now?"

"Well I... yes, of course."

She was overwhelmed by his boldness... and gave up any attempts of refusing or trying to understand. She believed that he would explain it all later. Or it would explain itself. But just as he asked, though to her it sounded more like an order, she closed her eyes, put her hands together and started praying. At first nothing happened. But then.. once Yamato blinked, the suroundings all changed once he opened his eyes again. It happened in an instant.

He was now standing on clouds that felt solid yet fluffy. Surounded by pillars, and a long staircase. It seemed they had arrived at heaven.

"Hey, Yuki, is this heaven?"

"Yes it is, Young Master. Here, we will meet god. He should be aware of our presence already, since I prayed to him so he would bring us here."

Yamato crouched to the ground and poked the cloud he stood on.

"Interesting… Well, if he knows that we're here.. He might as well show himself already!"

He got up from crouching and spoke the last part in a louder voice. Which got Yuki suprised once again. She never heard him speak in a different way other than calm. But he still looked calm. As if summoning god with such an arrogant phrase would be normal to him.

But his act showed results, as a light appeared infront of them. It was warm and comftable around it. It than changed forms into an man. He had a long white beard and was in a white robe. He looked at Yamato and Yuki with kindness in his eyes. But Yamato just looked back with bored, cold and empty eyes.

"So you're god, I take."

"That didn't sound like a question... you are pretty confident in your observational skills, young man. But yes, I am. I feel like you have buisness with me?"

Yamato remained calm and collected. The presence of god didn't seem to bother him at all.

"That too, didn't sound like a question, old man."

"Haha, indeed it wasn't. I already know why you are here and how your relationship to Yuki is. Also... I never imagined being adressed as 'old man'. You truly are special."

"Indeed, I am. And since you adressed me as 'young man' it seemed fair to adress you with the same energy."

Yuki remained silent during them throwing words back and forth. She was trusting Yamato completly. She believed that no matter what happens, he would win. It didn't matter that they stood before god. He would win. She was sertant of that.

"Well, Yamato, that seems fair indeed. But lets stop this silly talk and talk about what really matters."

"Ah, you mean me wanting to drive you into suicide?"

He smiled at that

"Yes, exactly. When I see into peoples souls.. I hope to find kindess, empathy or love. Unfortunately… when looking at you… I see nothing. Nothing good atleast. You also seem to lack a reason for that state you are in. I never met someone such as you. I also never intended to create something like that. I know you see me as inferior. You see everyone like that, actually. But your view goes beyond a simple god complex. You don't think you are simply worth more than everyone else. You think you are the only one that is even worth anything."

"...Nice speech, old man. Having powers like that must be nice, huh? But you are correct. Impressive... but expected. The boring thing about perfection is that it means it is always the same. If something is perfect, it is flawless. Something flawless will, as it already says by definition, never have anything to improve upon. But isn't that already a flaw? If being flawless is a flaw, then there is no such thing as flawlessness. And by that logic, you aren't perfect."

Yuki looked amazed by Yamatos approach… even god seemed to be fascinated.

"...You really are an impressive young man... But isn't this flaw of flawlessness just a way mortals comprehend it? You out of all people should know that."

"...So? Someone who is immortal is basicly an object. Only death defines what is alive. Lacking the ability to die makes you just like an object. So only the view of mortals matters. You say I speak out of the view of an mortal, and try to imply that this view somehow is flawed or incomplete. But in reality, it is the only view that matters in the first place."

God sighed at that, not really knowing how to respond but he tried anyway.

"Your logic truly is remarkable… To think that you are so heartless, truly is a waste of a life.. just imagine all the good you could do."

"Just imagine all the good you could do by erasing cancer. Why don't you?"

"If I take all the struggles of life from humanity, what does the life even matter? If you can't overcome any problem, how could you truly grow?"

"The answer of someone who never faced death before."

"Hm... I guess that's fair. But who are you to critcize me? Without me, there wouldn't be a life to complain about in the first place. And if you can't value what you have and only see what you don't, that's the sin of greed, Yamato."

Yuki stood in awe infront of them. The wisdom portrait here truly was a on another level. She couldn't help but love Yamato even more. Seeing him fight god in an argument of logic. Where she couldn't see a winner yet, made her heart race. Even though she couldn't predict the winner, she only saw Yamato as the winner. She just failed to imagine him losing.

"Also, Yamato, how can you argue about me being incapable of perfection, while viewing yourself as the only thing that has any value at all? Isn't that a bit of a double standart?"

"You're so stubborn, old man…"

"I could say the same to you, Yamato. But this dosn't lead to anything. We move in circles. However, I can't ignore that you turned an angel against me… I wonder what to do in this situation, really..."

"Maybe just give up, old man?"

"Haha... expected you to say that. You truly are an anomaly. All I see is boredom in your eyes. Earth wasn't that appealing to you, huh?"

Yamato looked away in thoughts. Staring into the endless sky, heaven seems to be in the middle of.

"I guess so... I thought about conquering it once. But a place like that.. isn't even worth it. What would I gain, by ruling over inferiorities? What would it prove? It's like beating a child and seeking praise for it. I thought meeting you would bring my boredom an end. Yet... you don't make me feel anything. You are a disappointment."

"Calling god a disappointment huh… You're such a rude young man. But maybe I can help you.. I-"

Before he could end his sentance, Yamato interrupted him. His eyes turning back onto god, staring right into his eyes.

"You want to bring me into another world that you think wouldn't bore me like my original world has. Right?"

"...now that is impressive. May I ask how you knew of that? You didn't read my mind, did you?"

Yamato remained calm and stared at god.

"Just guessed."

"…quite specific for a guess, don't you think?"

"I guess. Anyway... I accept your proposal. Under one condition."

"Ah… I see now. You completly saw through me. You knew I want to get rid of you. Because you are a threat to me. So you deducted my whole thinking process... and knew that the most efficient way of getting rid of someone who you can't kill, is to make them leave willingly. Which is why you knew I'd try to get you into another world… you are a scary person, Yamato. But since it is benefitial to the both of us… what is that condition?"

Yamato looked over to Yuki, who remained silent throughout this whole conversation, and pointed at her.

"I want her to come with me."

Both Yuki and God where taken aback by that condition. Yuki got flustered and blushed.. while god looked suprised.

"...What? You.. truly never fail to suprise me."

"I have another condition. I want the world to be free from your influence. There can be religion but from the moment I and Yuki arrive, you lose all influence on that world."

"You seem to plan something… but I don't see why that should bother me. Fine then. I accept."

"Great."

"That was quick… You can't wait to get out of here, huh… Alright then."

And so they suddenly got pulled through a light which appeared infront of them.
