The Apocalyptic Command: A Military Isekai LitRPG

Chapter 5: Arrival

The gust of the wind scatters throughout the forest as the leaves make a gentle rustling noise that accentuates the beauty of the rising sun and its calm morning dew. While behind the scenery, a terrible nightmare hides away from it. However, far from that location, a man of terrible physique filled with wounds and gashes all around him, along with his tattered attire that reeks of dried blood, is sure to bring out unknown dangers around him.

Fortunately, the gentle touch from the cool breeze of the wind seems to have woken him up.

"!!!" With a face filled with tiredness and dried blood, he looked left and right.

"Ouch!!!" The wounds on his body ached in pain as he attempted to stand up, to which it failed, and so he came crashing down the earth.

"Gah!!!" He screamed as his bottoms ached from the landing.

"What the heck happened?! Didn't I just got sho-" While breathing heavily and muttering under his breath, he was cut off by a sharp pain.

"Agh!!!" With pain present in his expression, he screams in fear and despair as numerous images come to his mind. Only for it to disappear once, when the image of the woman with platinum blonde hair, blue eyes, and pale white skin appeared in his memories, as if singing him a lullaby, which eased the tension in his head as he took in the information he needed to digest.

"Hmm…" He breathes a sigh of relief as the majority of the pain has subsided, and almost all the information he needs has now arrived in his head intact and peacefully, without killing him, thankfully.

With all the information he needed now in his head, his eyes and ears twitched with alertness as he knew full well that this world was not the same world he used to be in. It was said that he needed to save this world. The request was so ridiculous that he couldn't help but grin under the blue sky he was on.

'How could I possibly save a world with such a wounded body and tattered clothes?' Was the thought he dwelled on for a few moments.

Fortunately, he realized his predicament and was thankful for being given a second chance in life. He spread his hands and arms around his body, searching for something usable. Upon arriving at the pockets beside his supposed sidearm, he found an M1 Military Knife and searched for more around it.

Unfortunately, there were no firearms nor ammunition, and consumables were not even present in his pockets and handles. This means he has to survive with only a military knife, in the meantime, with a wounded body.

'Great, a military knife and a wounded body. Got to be enough to save the world, I guess.' He mutters under his breath.

Nevertheless, he took a deep breath again and attempted to stand up.

"Hngghh!!!" Within a few breaths, he was already heavily breathing, though this time, he could stand up; it was only this time that he could thoroughly scan his body.

"Damn, it could be worse." As if already being used in the state he was in, he was thankful enough to know that the wounds in his body weren't that deep.

Knowing where the problem lay, he brought out his tee shirt and ripped it into pieces, preferring only to wear the trench coat and use the torn cloth to cover the wounds from getting infected.

With the wounds somewhat bandaged up, the next thing he needs to find is a water source so that he can wash the bandages, drink some water, bathe himself, and somewhat recover from all the wounds he suffered.

After focusing his mind for a while, with a clear direction on what he needed to do, he removed his hands, unclipped the military knife, and grabbed it. Then, he raised it so that he could resist or fight immediately when a predator or a wild animal showed up to attack him.

With his other hand resting downward and the other hand raised with the knife, he then set off walking in a direction he randomly chose, albeit he sauntered as his body ached from all the pain he was in,

Unfortunately, as if his luck seemed to worsen, a loud howl of a wolf reverberated through the distance. It was at that time the forest started to rumble.

With fear creeping up his back and little strikes of cringes covering his body, he followed his instincts and took cover. Behind a tree surrounded by bushes, he found comfort. However, his body was still wagging all around as he tried his best to silence his voice.

When he looked over the side, he found despair, as his stomach churned out because of the situation he found himself in. Over a few hundred meters, he saw the wolf looking at him, and when their eyes met. The wolf dashed forward towards him.

His body froze, unable to move. He wanted to move his body and run. However, his instincts are saying something worse is out there and telling him to stay.

The wolf dashed forward, now within a few dozen meters of him. However, as if to vindicate his response, a shadow moved over, almost missing his location as he was hidden behind the trees and bushes.

To which after a few moments, the wolf whimpered, and an unknown sound and image appeared before him.

[The World's Trial: Survive This Day's Twilight Of The Red Moon Until Tomorrow.]

[Rewards: Complete Immunity From The World's Infection. Full Body Recovery. Construction Droid x6, Resource Droid x6, Logistics Droid x3, Manufacturing Plant (Small), x1 Cloning Facility (Small) x1, Pathfinder x 1.]

"W-" He gasped, fortunately it wasn't too loud, as he saw the horror before him. He saw a man gnawing at the wolf as the wolf was gasping for air. All the while, it whimpered; it wasn't too long before a few more people arrived and started to gnaw and feast on the now-dead corpse of the wolf.

He didn't know how long it took, but when he regained focus, there was now a window beside him, and all the other people he saw were gone, and the wolf's corpse was nowhere to be seen.

Looking over the window, he started to read it.

'World's Trial… Twilight Of The Red Moon… Immunity… Infection… I see'

Having grasped the situation, he knew that he needed to survive the entire day so that his body would be healed and immune from this world's infection. It must have been a virus or disease, as he thought to himself, but what is the Twilight Of The Red Moon?

As if hearing his question, the window responded. The window's letter changed as if changing channels from a television.

[Twilight Of The Red Moon

Day Time Of the Red Moon- Double the Standard State Of The Undead

Night Time Of The Red Moon- Quadruple Standard State Of The Undead]

Upon reading the entire thing, he was baffled and stupefied by what he was reading.

'Undead… Infection… Immunity… Dead People… Save The World…." Were the thoughts running in his mind? When it finally clicked in his mind, he deduced a strategy.

'So basically, this world is suffering from a virus that kills people and then revives them so that it eats the living? It seems like the plot of a novel, but this is reality. If the virus or disease enters me, it shouldn't kill me until my body is overwhelmed, so that must mean surviving until tomorrow is possible. It's just I need to not die of blood loss, with all these injuries in my body.'

Thus, with all these in his mind, he sets off, trying to find a suitable, defensible location to survive the entire day until tomorrow.
