[Coins +9600000]
Two D rank dungeons and one C rank dungeon later, I had only leveled up by seven. I don't think I need to explain how difficult it would be to level up in the near future.
Coin gain was something though. I didn't only gain coins from killing the monsters but I also gained them by selling monster parts and corpses in the shop. I had about a thousand corpses still in my inventory.
Regarding my skills, only the 'Magic Bullet' had grown considerably. I mean sure, 'heal' was also close but I knew better than anyone that it would still take quite some time.
And then there was regeneration. A skill for which I would have to get injured very frequently. Kind of like an M. I don't like that skill on a personal level.
But that didn't mean it was useless. It would restore five percent of my HP every seven minutes. The HP recovery was still the same, only time had lessened with every increase in skill level.
Now, my comrades.
[Your party member Maximilian Specter is now level 141]
[Your party member Rose is now level 191]
Max's level had increased by four whereas Rose's had only increased by two. Unless it's a very high level monster, it is more efficient for them if they train naturally.
[Wouldn't it be better to hunt high level dungeons?]
'It would be if I could.' Of course it would be but I can't go to higher rank dungeons. One, because of my rank, and second, because growth should always be done in an order.
Let's say there are three potions and if you consume them in the right order, your stats would increase by 100 but if you drink the third one and the best one first, the lower level ones wouldn't work anymore and your growth would only be 50.
I had already taken quite a big risk with the vampire and if it hadn't been for Allison, I wouldn't even have been alive.
That is why, you should always focus on an order. Shortcuts aren't good in any way unless it's in the Mc@nalds line.
But it was correct that soon only B rank dungeons would provide me with Exp and lower levels would be useless unless for coins.
=====
"Your Highness, we have arrived," Rose informed me and I opened my eyes. The carriage had stopped amidst my thoughts.
I got up and left the carriage only to see a silver knight standing in front of me, "Your Highness, the fifth imperial prince, His Majesty the Emperor would like you to head straight to the imperial court."
If he takes out those titles, the sentence would be a lot shorter, wouldn't it?
Also, either this family has a lot of problems, or those old men just enjoy mucking around with everyone in that room repeatedly.
"Understood." I simply replied and nodded at Max and Rose. We started walking towards the courtroom together.
On my way, I encountered Elliot and another blonde-haired young adult heading in the same direction as us. The facial expression on both of their faces contorted a lot when they saw me.
This meant that whatever was about to happen in the court was related to me and in a good way. Only two possible things came to mind, the Yesral County incident and the awakening of Monica Ravenknight.
Whatever it was, it was better for me and not better for them.
[Very obvious]
'How long until the assimilation?' I asked.
[Two months, seven days and three hours]
I nodded inwardly. The assimilation of the penta enhancement array. It would increase my STR and AGI by fifty points each but it would come with a lot of pain.
Speaking of pain, I have one other plan in my mind before I head to the academy. To make another ally. And that ally was heading to the courtroom ahead of us, just like us.
Seraphina. The girl who suffered. In other words, a perfect example of an M, only she doesn't enjoy it. But that's for later. Right now, let's see what those old men want.
=====
There were only the members of the Lux family along with the elders of the court in the courtroom right now. No noble was currently present.
"We received a comminution about what happened in the Ravenknight kingdom. Monica herself contacted us and spoke very highly of you." The emperor began and said while addressing me.
All around the table, some faces were astonished while some were in disbelief. The majority of them, however, were scowling.
It seems Monica has done what I asked her to do. What I asked was simple, Ravenknight family would ally themselves with the empire and since I was the one to bring them, the credit for all of it would automatically go to me.
Although the relations between the empire and the Ravenknight kingdom were friendly, they weren't allies. But with this, the alliance was official.
It had to be kept in mind, that Ravenknight kingdom was the strongest after the major powers such as Academy, central government and the empire.
Even the alliance of the seven kingdoms couldn't stand against the Ravenknight kingdom combined. This was a major alliance and all of its credit will go to me.
"It is an honor, Your Majesty," I replied shortly. He nodded and continued, "And your work in the Yesral county was remarkable as well. And it reminds me that I have yet to reward you for that."
"It was because of Seraphina's amazing plan, Your Majesty," I replied with humility dripping in my tone.
"But it was your flawless execution that ended things without a fight." He countered.
"Well then, feel free to praise me more, Your Majesty," I replied with a bright smile.
[Humility, huh?]
'I showed it but he insisted.'
The emperor was at a loss for words at my reply and many more around the table were dumbstruck. I simply smiled and glossed it over.
"Anyway, as your reward, you can ask for something directly from me. As long as it isn't too outlandish." The emperor spoke next. Many around the table were troubled at these words.
There weren't many things the emperor couldn't grant me so these words held a lot of value. But for me, the value was almost nothing. He didn't have anything I needed except for authority and for now, I was in no need of it. The name of the Lux family would be enough for now.
"I would like to request that my maid, Rose's status as a slave be abolished and that she be granted the title of a count. She would be the head of the house Roosevelt." I simply requested.
[Simply?]
Of course, my execution of words made it sound more like a demand but it was a simple request that he was welcome to decline.
[That doesn't stand for them though]
Seriously. Do they all have to make that face?
[They think you are a selfish scumbag]
'I was happy without your expression.' I knew what they were thinking but hearing it out loud still stings a bit.
"Ahem," The emperor coughed to dispel the awkward atmosphere and continued, "It's simple enough. Anything else?"
"Ah yes. My knight, Max. I would highly appreciate it if you could take him under your tutelage." I asked. This time I really was making a request.
"Your knight? Is he talented?" The emperor asked me skeptically to which my reply was simple, "No. He is actually pathetic in terms of talent."
The emperor made a questioning expression and asked, "Then why would I take him under my tutelage?"
"It's not regarding strength. I can make him strong without your assistance, what I need is for him to learn the harshness of this world. Someone who can properly teach him that the world isn't shining bright." I replied to his inquiry.
"In other words, you want him to see the dark side of humanity." The head elder spoke from the side. Now here's an intelligent man. "Yes, precisely."
"Very well. Is there anything else?" He asked after his consent. I shook my head and he turned to Seraphina, "And what would you like, Seraphina?"
"Seraphina is happy that she is able to help the family. She wishes for nothing in return." Harvey, the crown prince hurriedly spoke.
Seraphina's head slumped at the crown prince's remark but no one else said anything about it.
"Look here, sister," I called Seraphina and she turned to me. I touched her lips and chuckled slightly, "Still there. And here I thought she can't speak since his lordship is speaking for her."
"The emperor has addressed the Princess, Seraphina, Crown Prince. Please let her be the one to answer." The one to agree with me was none other than the commander of the Sliver knights, Bayern Voltz Nem.
"Yes, your lordship. I apologize for speaking out of my bounds, Your Majesty." The crown prince went silent and the emperor once again turned to Seraphina.
Seraphina, nervously, didn't know what to say. "The world doesn't wait for you, dear sister." I gave her a gentle nudge which helped her to collect herself a little.
"I..." She mumbled in a mosquito-like voice, "I would like to… to visit my mother's hometown." Seraphina nervously stated her request in a very low voice.
The faces of many at the table went bad when they heard her. The problem lay with where her mother was and who her mother was.
"Very well." The emperor accepted her request. Although many were dissatisfied, no one spoke about it. The emperor himself was offering this reward, speaking against it was speaking against the emperor.
"Now that this is done, let's move on to our next agenda." The emperor spoke and continued, "Adrian, Fiona, Lincoln, Elliot, and Cassandra, all five of you will be traveling to Leadnorm in two days' time. Alicia will also be going with you."
He paused and then continued, "I hope that like your siblings before you, you can make the Lux family proud in the academy. Remember, you are the true leaders of humanity, do not bring shame to the name Lux."
Seriously, he needed to work on his pep talk. Motivation works better in these circumstances.
Fiona and Cassandra are the twin sisters and daughters of the third prince. Elliot is the younger brother of the first imperial prince and the first crown candidate, and Lincoln is the younger brother of the second imperial prince and the second crown candidate.
They both hate me. Of course they do, I'm their brother's competition and I just landed a big merit in the hands of the empire.
I don't know much about Cassandra and Fiona and I have no interest in knowing them.
[And here I thought you would hit on any girl as long as she was blessed]
'I don't go for any and every woman. I'm not lascivious.'
Information is key. I don't have much information about Cassandra and Fiona or their elder sister and so I don't want to be entangled with them.
[Don't you think you're being careful for no apparent reason?]
She was right but I'm a careful man. You have to be when you're me. I'm not only a doctor but a soldier and a businessman too. If I'm not careful, I stand to lose more than I gain.
There's no need to get involved with them if all of my plans can work out without them.
[Then what about Seraphina?]
'She's an important piece.'
I needed Seraphina because of two reasons. One is her intellect, and the second is because of her unique ability. Pain. And I intend to exploit that ability.
[I don't like the look on your face]
