The Beginning Adventure of the New Monarch

Chapter 8: Chapter 008: Counter-Operation

Four days had passed since the decisive conversation between Jonady and Raelia, a period that had allowed them to prepare for the next step in their fight against the enemy forces. During this time, Jonady had immersed himself in intense training with the court mages, perfecting his affinities with the magics of wind and lightning.

Although these new skills still needed refining, they had already granted him a significant strategic advantage and a renewed sense of confidence.

The wind, with its speed and agility, and lightning, which he used to produce efficient strikes with devastating power, complemented the other forms of magic he had mastered.

These abilities now allowed him to manipulate the elements in subtle and effective ways, opening new possibilities for the psychological and tactical warfare he was about to wage.

The first few days after implementing the plan had yielded no results. Raelia and he had regularly exchanged information about the situation on the front, and their counter-espionage project although carefully crafted, had not yet provided any tangible results.

The plan, inspired by the maskirovka tactics he had studied in his own world, involved sowing false information among the noble families to identify which one would betray the others by passing it along to the enemy.

The goal was to detect the traitors without risking immediate confrontation, using the communication networks and false intelligence that reached the nobles as a tool for information manipulation.

The objective was simple: trap the traitors before they caused further damage. But despite Jonady's efforts, no concrete leads had emerged—until the seventh day.

That day, an important scene unfolded in a luxurious manor on the outskirts of the capital. Count Philippe Kiot, a small, bald nobleman of 47 years, stood before an enchanted mirror. This mirror actually a magical artifact did not reflect his own image but that of a demon with glowing red eyes and black horns a demon that Philippe seemed to be familiar with. The demon, with a deep voice, broke the silence of the room:

— "So, you say they plan to send reinforcements?"

The count nodded, a look of subordination in his eyes.

— "Yes prepare your troops to intercept them" he replied, his voice trembling slightly, filled with servitude.

The two figures stared at each other for a moment. Then the conversation ended.

Philippe Kiot turned his head about to leave the room, but stopped when he noticed his son Roy, a 27-year-old young man well-dressed and with a marquis-like appearance standing beside him. Roy, with a mocking smile on his lips, spoke:

— "With the demons on our side Father, we will soon take control of the kingdom and bring down the Ednia family." Roy's tone was filled with narcissistic confidence, as cold and assured as if the victory were already in their grasp.

The count burst into laughter, a loud, self-satisfied laugh that echoed through the manor's walls. His face twisted into an even more sinister smile.

— "Yes, soon my son. Soon everything will be ours."

The two laughed together as if they had already won, fully convinced that their betrayal would lead them to immense glory and power.

What they didn't know was that they were already under surveillance.

On the roof of the manor, a masked figure, dressed in black and almost invisible in the night, observed the scene closely.

The wind blew lightly, masking any noise from their movements. This shadow swift and stealthy had seen and heard everything necessary.

The report they carried would be crucial for the next stage of the operation.

Disappearing into the night as silently, as they had appeared the shadow made their way toward the castle with one clear objective: to deliver the crucial information that would disrupt Count Philippe's treasonous plans.

At the castle, in a stark and imposing council room, the generals. Princess Raelia and Jonady were gathered. The room was dimly lit by flickering torches that cast unsettling shadows on the walls. It was in this heavy atmosphere that the masked agent from the secret unit entered, carrying a sealed scroll containing the long-awaited report.

After a swift bow, the agent placed the document on the table, and everyone leaned forward, eager to discover its contents.

The report detailed the damning evidence of Count Philippe Kiot's betrayal showing that he along with his son had formed an alliance with demons serving as spies to provide intelligence and actively participate in the kingdom's downfall.

The truth hit like a thunderclap in the room, sparking an uproar among the generals. Several of them their faces marked by anger and indignation immediately proposed sending troops to capture and execute the traitor. Some even more impetuous suggested striking immediately without delay not allowing this traitor to act for one more moment.

But Raelia calmly raised a hand. With a gesture she imposed silence and all eyes turned to her. It was clear that the princess knew an impulsive reaction would be a fatal mistake.

— "So" she said in a firm but calm voice. "Jonady it seem you were right. Your intuition was good. So according to you what should be our next move from here?"

She turned then to Jonady who had remained silent until now, and gave him a nod. He understood immediately that it was time to speak.

Jonady stood up, his eyes gleaming with unwavering determination. He scanned the tense faces around the table before speaking:

— "Simple. We counterattack," he said confidently.

Jonady's words echoed through the room, and a heavy silence fell over the assembly.

Every member of the council from the generals to the nobles present was waiting to hear the details of this new phase of the plan.

Holding their breath, they were ready to discover how Jonady planned to use this information to turn the situation to their advantage.

A counteroffensive was now in motion, and nothing would ever be the same again.
