The Choice of The Universe

Chapter 26: Chapter 26 – Initial Assessment

Time passed as perception and perception enhancement lessons in the morning, sandworm catching mission in the afternoon, and wind tunnel training in the evening.

As Demir's knowledge of aura increased, his unconscious wandering in the sand sea decreased proportionally. After days, he was finally able to guess where the sandworms were. He had seen worms in a few dunes he dug, but he was not fast enough to catch them.

As his knowledge, effort and determination increased, it was inevitable that he would get results and Demir completed the sandworm catching mission at the end of his twelfth day. Now he could do a new mission like his other classmates...

There were various tests aimed at increasing perception for all students enrolled in the academy in the first year of the academy. These tests are conducted to reveal genius students who cannot improve themselves much due to their living conditions; It existed to make all students equal, regardless of religion, language, race and class.

It was not right to compare someone born into a noble family and fed with all kinds of help with someone born into an ordinary family and not receiving any help. However, if these two competed on equal terms, the situation could be different. It was best to choose the geniuses among them and raise them. Therefore, the academy teachers prepared many tests by which they could select genius students.

The person who evaluated and selected these students according to the classroom teachers' reports was Head Instructor Turan. He would evaluate the children's status every two months and report the successful students to Dean Noyan. Although it had not been two months yet, upon Dean Noyan's request, Head Instructor Turan prepared his report after the sandworm catching mission was completed and left his room.

...

At the end of the greeting speeches, Head Instructor Turan gave the documents in his hand to Dean Noyan and began his speech,

- Sir, as you know, we started classes about two months ago. It has been seventy-eight days since we started classes. During this time, the child's progress is well below average, as stated in the report.

Although he quickly memorizes theoretical information, he has problems putting it into practice. We think he has some kind of difficulty in applying it. The sudden advances he made before becoming a core student seem to have stalled now.

His physical movements and reactions are quite slow. But in return, his determination and effort are very high. He has characteristics that we could call ordinary if it were not for his diligence.

In addition, he cannot achieve the expected success in practice courses. He was able to finish his last task in twelve days…

Dean Noyan was angered by Head Instructor Turan's speech that included "It was a mistake to choose this kid", but he did not say anything. While he was examining the report in his hand, the room door opened and Kunt entered the room. Kunt approached Dean Noyan and bowed slightly to greet him.

- Hello Supreme Master, (He added by turning to Head Instructor Turan) hello Mr. Principal,

- Welcome Kunt. Come sit next to us. (When Kunt sat down) Tell me how the kid is?

- He is very successful. I think we are lucky to have found such a student…

- But Turan does not think like you. According to him, we found him a very mediocre student.

Head Instructor Turan was startled by the conversation turning to him, but he could not say anything. It was best to wait to hear what this little sycophant had to say.

- Can such a thing ever happen? The child is very polite, gentle, respectful and honest, and also very hardworking. I've never seen him neglect his education...

- (Head Instructor Turan intervened and added) We don't have any problems with his personality either. When we evaluate him as a warrior, the fact that he is below average does not change when we look at the lessons he has taken and the tasks he has done.

- (Kunt's surprised look caught Head Instructor Turan) I think you are doing something wrong?

- What do you want to say?

- Could you have evaluated him wrong? I was going to say.

- No, we didn't evaluate him wrong. This evaluation was made according to the reports of the class teachers. We also know that the boy is very polite and respectful, but his evaluation as a warrior is below average...

(When he saw that Kunt's surprised look did not change, he asked) So, are you saying that the class teachers made the wrong decision about the boy?

- (Dean Noyan intervened) Don't argue.

- (Kunt) Let me put it this way, the boy has definitely not received fighter or warrior training before. He grew up under the full protection of his family. They didn't even give him a knife because he would hurt himself.

In this state, he is practicing the celestial steps of the north wind.

Head Instructor Turan suddenly stood up when he heard the celestial steps of the north wind. When he turned his head and looked at Dean Noyan with his eyes widening, Dean Noyan was gesturing him to sit down with his hand. When Turan slowly sat down, Kunt continued his speech

- Since I gave him the book, he has only worked one section of the book. That was the requirements section. That boy who could not do any moves at first persevered and in this short time, by working very hard, he was able to do three of the requirements moves...

In my eyes, the boy can easily reach the level of a fighting master. With our help and guidance, he can become a fighting ancesor.

Frankly, that's what I think. It's strange to me that you find him mediocre.

- (Head Instructor Turan) I don't know what to say. In my opinion, the reports are telling the truth. But you say so...

- (Dean Noyan) Turan, there will be another evaluation in two months. Until then, we can get clearer information about the child. Don't be prejudiced and don't make any changes to their education. I trust you. Now go and take good care of our student.

When Head Instructor Turan bowed and left the room, Dean Noyan turned to Kunt,

- Show me what you said was important.

- Okay, I'll show you right away, sir.

Kunt took out a thin business card from his pocket and lightly squeezed it between his fingers, projecting the resulting image onto the window. While the two of them were looking at the video on the window, the video started showing Demir's bedroom. The video showed Demir trying to do the third move, the northern eagle soaring, with the hologram...

In the accelerated images, Demir first worked in front of the hologram, then stood on the right, then left, in front and behind the hologram and repeated every movement of the hologram. After a while, he entered the hologram and started moving with it.

Although he could not harmonize with the hologram at first, his movements began to improve as time went by, and towards the end of the video, Demir and the hologram began to move as a whole. It looked as if there was no hologram in the image and only Demir...

When this situation continued for a while, Dean Noyan stopped the video. Then he zoomed in to a certain point. Then he zoomed in on a certain point. When the point where Demir's feet were together with the hologram zoomed in and appeared on the screen, he asked Kunt,

- Is there something wrong with the child's foot?

- No sir, it's okay.

- So why does his foot look like this? Although their beginnings are the same, the heel part has shifted out a little. Have you done anything to fix this?

- When I first saw it, I thought this was a problem. When I said to him, "Your heel is a little bit out, try pulling it in," he said, "I'm more comfortable this way, and I feel like I'm stepping on the ground more solidly."

There is another image related to this, let's take a look at it if you want...

When Kunt fast forwarded the video and opened the image he was looking for, he stepped aside. The video showed Demir practicing the forward jump move with the hologram.

The hologram was shown first in the video. The hologram slowly stopped as if he was going to run and adjusted his ankle like in the third move. When he finally jumped forward, he had gone about four meters in one go, and when the hologram jumped forward and stood on his other foot, it looked like he was going to jump forward again.

The video progressed and Demir was seen trying to do the same move.

Demir, who initially jumped half the distance, was able to jump farther as the video got faster and time passed.

Finally, the image of Demir jumping as far as the hologram was fixed when he and the hologram stood on their other feet.

Dean Noyan approached the image. When he zoomed in on Demir's feet with the hologram, it was seen that Demir's feet were a little further away. Dean Noyan's surprise while looking at the image was worth seeing.

- Sir, as you can see, Demir's different stance when he started to make the first move was able to take him a little further. Therefore, I tried to do the same movement as he did and indeed this posture was more comfortable. Then, when I tried to accelerate without breaking this stance, I realized that I could go faster than before. Actually, that's what I wanted to tell you...

- So you are saying that the child developed the movement that we have been practicing for hundreds of years and made it a more advanced technique?

- ??

- So how could he have found this change that others could not make?

- As you know, we prepared a special wind tunnel training for Demir so that his body can get used to the wind. What Demir told me is that he tried to do this move while working in the wind tunnel. After many attempts, he realized that this stance was more comfortable.

- Apparently this kid has more potential than we thought...

How is his progress in the celestial steps?

- For now, he is practicing basic postures and movements. I haven't done any tests yet.

- Take him to the forest. Let's see what he learned.

After the two talked about the details of the new mission, Kunt saluted and left the room.

Dean Noyan, who calmly approached the window, began to look towards where Demir was. When his blue eyes sparkled for a while and returned to normal, he said, "We found a good seedling."

After a while, he turned his gaze, which had turned to anger and rage, to the sky. He muttered while clenching his fist, "There's a little more. Your time will come too…"
