The Crown's Mundane

Chapter 74: Did he know?

It didn't look like she could still go to him and ask for lessons after what she heard. It wasn't the right time.

She even regretted thinking of doing such in the first place. She went back to her room to sleep.

No one came out for dinner and there wasn't any dinner.

....

The next day came so quickly.

Alvah was already waiting patiently for her outside the house.

She was done with breakfast. When she came out she saw him seated.

" Don't blame me for being late, I had breakfast and you didn't ".

She defended her lateness.

" It's okay".

He wasn't bothered.

"Shall we"... she asked him. He stood up from where he was seated.

"I strongly suggest that you attack and I defend".

He didn't argue because now, she is the teacher and he's the student.

He nodded.

They fought for hours with him attacking and her defending.

She would be lying if she said that she wasn't exhausted from the early hours that they had started.

Her energy cannot be amounted to that of his.

When they got back home, she looked more fatigued than him.

She ate her dinner quickly and went to sleep.

Old sage asked him if he could practice the act of instillation with a day interval.

He accepted. Vida was safe to rest a day.

This training continued for a while and one month quickly passed by.

It was down to two months.

She was still contemplating to ask him to teach her at least that skill. That alone can get rid of her problem.

After the second week of the second month, she was at the door to his room.

He had sensed her a few times. This wasn't the first time she had walked to the door but can't take any action.

He opened the door to see her looking at the ground.

She looked at him, "Alvah..." she called his name but he made no attempt to let her speak.

He held her hand and took her inside. He sat her on the couch and sat on the bed.

"Do you want to say anything?", he asked looking her in the eye.

If she attempted to lie he would know. Infernals are liars.

She had waited for this day to ask him, if it passes her by, she would hate herself.

She was happy that her training wasn't bad. Alvah actually learned from her, she was amazed with herself.

And because she taught him somethings, she hopes that when she asks he would return the favor.

"I... Last month, I lost to you in the duel we had. That skill".

"I can't teach you". He immediately inferred.

"What!". She had made effort to lessen her temper.

"I can't teach you that skill". He repeated.

"But..."

"Is that why you couldn't stop standing at the door almost every evening and night?".

That came as a shock to her. 'Did he know I was always at the door?'. she asked internally.

"Please, I really need to know that skill, I'm in need of something new to learn". she pleaded deeply.

He explained, "I can't teach you, not because I don't want to but because you can't learn that skill".

"It's an infernal skill?"... she asked aware of his coming response.

"Yes". "Not just that one, the rest of them". As an infernal, his power and skill is something she can't possess.

Hearing the word rest of them made her insane realizing that there are more and she could learn non.

"It's okay". she was broken. After a month of waiting to ask, she never even thought that maybe she couldn't learn the skill and she troubled herself for nothing.

When she stood up to leave, he said to her

"If there is anything or anyone you want to get rid of, I could help you, before I leave".

She was touched that he, that someone actually wants to help her end her trouble. But she can't just do that, she has to end it herself.

"Thanks but, I can do it".

He said to her,

" Sometimes you have to let someone help you. You will be surprised if something bothered you for soo long, someone actually existed to help you.And that person will make it seem like it was never a problem".

This was one of the most heart felt words that she had ever heard from him since he got here.

Her eyes were filled with tears, unknown to her.

He walked to her and wiped it away. He hugged her to console her as she really needed it.

She cried lightly hugging him back. She would have never believed that the person that she hated since the day they met would someday relieve her a little.

'For an infernal, he is this good. Are the other infernals the same?. Can he be the one, did grandfather set me up?'.

She asked herself these questions.

She rushed to release from his embrace. "I'll go to bed now".

"Are you sure you don't want to tell me who this person is?".

She smiled heartily.

He asked further,

"Does your grandfather know about this?".

She nodded, "No"

"Why don't you tell him?". He showed his concern to her. If he couldn't help her grandpa could.

' How can I tell him, he is much safer here. I was grateful he decided to leave the district. But how sure am I that my presence here wouldn't cause him harm?'

"I can't tell him, at least for now. I'll go to bed now". she emphasized walking out the room.

He couldn't stop thinking, what could actually be the problem.

" could this be the reason she has sudden change of characters every morning?". He tried fixing the puzzle.

"She thinks too much and it actually affects her attitude. Would she be okay living like this or I should help her tell old sage".
