The Destiny's Path after My Reincarnation

"REZIO! LEAD THE MERCENARY GROUP!!– EVERYONE THAT ISN'T A SPECIAL KNIGHT! FALL BACK!" Carfeld urgently said.

Rezio quickly replied and began to guide the mercenaries to the back of the treant so that they can get more opportunities to attack as the Great Treant is being distracted by the knights.

"GOT IT!" He shouted.

Carfeld, Davira, and other Special Knights behind them quickly used their Aura, each of their swords burst out in elements, Carfeld uses Fire Aura to engulf his sword in flame, while Davira uses Wind Aura to apply Wind Blades around her swords, other special knights also uses their Aura, most of them are using Fire Aura, since it is the most common type of aura that is possible, but among the five of them, only Davira and another special knight were capable of using other element's aura.

As soon as the five of them activates their aura, all of them jumped towards the Great Treant, many tree branches appeared from the monster and it flew right into their face, but the five special knights swings their sword to cut the branches, while the normal knights were attacking from below, Carfeld and the others stepped on one of the branches and started to run ontop of it, closening their distance with the Great Treant.

However, Great Treant should not be treated like a normal treant, because not only their size is different, their abilities are also way more diverse, upon realizing that Carfeld and the other special knights is on their way to attack, the Great Treant suddenly summoned a green magic circle infront of its disfigured face.

Everyone was taken by a surprise and Carfeld aswell as the others stopped on their track, they saw the magic circle with the size larger than a carriage rapidly rotating with a loud whirring sound, the ground also starting to vaguely shaken, if they don't move away from the magic circle, it would be dangerous.

"GET AWAY!" Carfeld screamed.

Davira and the others listened to him in an instant and they jumped to the side to avoid the magic circle, and once they do so, the Great Treant then growled before the magic circle infront of its face began to shoot out spiky vines that is twirling and bending to all directions, there was approximately more than 10 vines that appeared out of the magic circle and each of have no known length.

"SHIT, THAT THING IS USING DEATH VINES! WHATEVER YOU DO!! DO NOT GET CAUGHT IN THAT!"

Just then, Carfeld's eyes focused into another object in his eyes, not far away from the Treant location, with a bit to the side, there was a Tree with red claw mark in the distance, Carfeld saw it from this far away thanks to the trees in this forest not cramped to each other, it's perfectly placed for giant beasts to move around but also enough for humans to get lost in it.

'That is!!...'

Back to the Treant, the summoned vines moved like a bolt of lightning, targeting everyone that is visible in its vicinity, it caught many of the normal knights below in the span of less than 10 seconds, and once caught, the knights are tied within the vines as the spike pierced through their armor as if they were butter.

"AAGGHHHH!!!"

"HELPP!! ARRGGGHH!!"

"GRAB MY HAND!"

One of the knight tried to help his comrade but instead got caught by the vines himself.

More of the deadly vines reached out towards Carfeld and the other special knights, but they are too skilled to be caught, since they are using Sword Aura, their slashes do more damage than normal, especially Carfeld and everyone else that uses Fire Aura, the fire from their swords is able to spread through the vulnerable vines and woods, making their situation advantageous.

"REZIO!"

"ALRIGHT!— NOW! FIRE!!"

Carfeld shouted at Rezio, giving him the signal before he, Davira and the other special knights dashed out from the Great Treant location, they're still being chased out by the vines but that wasn't really a problem since they can keep on cutting it, unless there are more than 2 vines coming at them, but for now its going like how they planned it.

One of the mages in the mercenary group casted fire magic at the Great Treant, a concentrated ball of flame was shot towards the monster and it hits the massive Treant with an explosion, since the Great Treant is focusing on the knights and Carfeld's group, it barely has any time to look at Rezio and the mercenaries since they stayed at the Treant's back.

"Cast another one, quick— And you, keep providing him with mana so that he can strengthen the spell." Rezio said to the fire mage while also telling the other mage beside him to supply the fire mage with mana.

"G- Got it." Said the mage that is supplying mana.

The other mage in the mercenary group wasn't a fire mage, but instead she was a water mage so her magic would do the opposite from fire, if she attacked the Trent with her spell, it would probably caused minimal damage.

"Lyra, don't exert yourself, just tell us if your mana is about to run out." Deter approached them, giving some words of comfort.

"Yes, don't worry!"

A few seconds passed, and the Great Treant is still growling in pain, its branches was caught on fire, and because of the Treant's body being made out of dried woods, the fire spreads pretty quickly, not to mention that the fire blast that came from the mage isn't small, when the explosion happened, almost a third of the Treant's body already got burned from the heat.

ROOOGGGHHHH!!!

Because of the burning pain, the magic circle infront of the Treant's face began to fade away gradually as the Treant loses its focus to keep the magic spell activated, all of the spiky vines also starting to disappear and every knights that were caught up by the vines are released from its grasp, they then fell to the ground with a loud thud, most of them laid limp with no motion, their body is leaking out blood from the spikes that pierced their armor, those knights are dead.

"H- he- heellpp.."

"U- urghh.."

Another knight ran towards the surviving victim from the spiky vines.

"HEY!! HEY!! You're alive?!"

The injured knight faintly nodded.

"EVERYONE FOLLOW ME!" Carfeld said, ordering all his men to stay close to him.

Those who survived being impaled by the spikes are carried on the back and they were brought to safety beside Carfeld.

While the Treant is busy trying to put out the fire that is burning his body, another fire spell was about to be launched again towards the monster.

"Hold— Wait a bit more." Rezio said.

Then, the Great Treant rotate its body to see Rezio and the mercenary group, along with the fire mage that is about to cast another spell, his magic circle grew larger than before and a thick ball made out of fire is being created infront of it.

"Now, SHOOT!"

BOOM!

ROOOOOOAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Fire overwhelmed the Great Treant as it aimlessly throw its branches at every direction, it begged for the pain to stop, but there was no way out, every inch of the Treant's body was covered in intense heat and slowly but surely its body got turned into charcoal.

"Lyra, right? Can you put out the fire on the smaller plants around the Treant?" Said Rezio to Lyra.

Other plants in the area began to suffer the same fate as the fire from the Great Treant's body spread over to them, but thankfully there was a water mage in the mercenary group, Lyra's mana is still enough to cast small water magic to put out the fire on smaller plants that were unfortunate enough to get caught by the fire from the Treant, with this it will prevent a wild forest fire to be created.

ROOOAAAGGHHHH!!!

A few minute passed and the surrounding is now quiet, that Treant have died and there was nothing left in the area except burned charcoal and other plants that didn't survive.

"Seems like that's the last plant to get caught on fire." Carfeld said.

"Yes, now it's all over."

Tzzztt-Tzzzzttt-Tzzzt

A sound of cicada in the distance can be heard from the group's location, its buzzing sound resonates with their heartbeat and it made them feel a bit more anxious about what kinds of thing they might stumble into accidentally, the season is about to change, althought it is still technically summer, it will be a rainy season next month.

"Carfeld, what should we do now.." Rezio asked.

"How much people we have now?"

"...We lost 7 Normal Knights from the Great Treant fight."

Rezio's expression showed some distress after realizing that they've lost a substantial amount of people, and if the next monsters they encounter are way more dangerous, it would be extremely bad for them.

"Shit, we're down to 18— Let's pray for them before we continue."

"...Yes."

Everyone followed and they prayed for the fallen comrades that died on the mission, wishing them a happy afterlife and another life free of suffering or pain.

A few seconds later...

"Im truly sorry, for unable to protect everyone, but we shouldn't grieved for too long, those who died, died with honor, they died for our kingdom, for the prosperity of people, if they're not a hero, then i dont know what is, so— Wipe your tears, and instead, smile for them."

Carfeld then looked at everyone behind him, a smile began to form on his face.

"And this might be sudden, but i need to tell you guys about this— I think we might have found the way to our destination."

ROAARRR!!!

The heartful moment turned into fear and worries as the expedition group hears a loud roar that felt like it was not far away from them, right before everyone were thinking that they are safe, nature made them remembered about where they are right now, this is the inner part of Monoghriad Forest, there is no such thing like a safe place in here, only danger exist in this place.

"Sshh! Alright, we should quickly get away from here! we don't want a Chimera smelled our scent do we?" Carfeld asked.

Everyone nodded simultaneously.

"Right, let's go."

And so, the expedition group continued their way on the search for that awaited mithril cave that may or may not exist, sneakily.
