The Diary Of A Queer Warlock

Chapter 13: The World Within The Neon Stone

Though Jasper was still seething with rage, he had calmed down a little. He directly dropped Adrian off to the ground like he was letting out trash.

Adrian sunk to the earth with his butt crashing hard. It hurt but that was the least of his concerns for now. At least only his butt ached, he wasn't strangled to death.

"My first rune? But how do I even find it?" Adrian questioned in confusion.

"Great question, wrong timing. Find out yourself and maybe I can forgive your silly blunder just this once" Jasper said coolly, at this point, his hair had reverted to black and his eyes were a bright rainbow once again.

However, Adrian didn't get the chance to admire them as Jasper disappeared into the clouds in less than a second.

He sat dejected on the ground surrounded by the greenery but detached by his wandering thoughts. He actually got Jasper pissed on the very first day of lectures. This was what silliness fetched him.

He forgot for a moment that his big brother and Jasper were two different characters with contradictory personalities. His brother would giggle at him and playfully scold him if he referred to him as a trashy wizard.

On the contrary, Jasper nearly strangled him to death just now for something similar.

It was going to be a difficult task living with Jasper in this castle. The only things the pervert knew how to do best were — shutting himself off, being petty and getting pissed. It really was a sick idea to stay in the castle.

"Well, at least I have seven days left till then. I should be able to make some progress if I at least try. I'll head to the library first" Adrian pumped some courage to face his fate with a calm mind.

He rushed down to the Magic Scripture Hall in a couple of minutes. After moments of looking, he bumped into a book titled "Basics of Magic"

The book was written in universal Solarian language that normal humans could comprehend and not the complicated runic language that magicians normally used.

He read through the book, line by line, word for word, trying to comprehend the details in the book with all his might.

He advanced the center page where he finally found the topic he was searching for — How to Manifest Runes. He read through the entire outline and the topic itself carefully. However, a frown hung on his face like a filter just a short while after reading.

According to the book, it stated that runes were a lucky encounter for any warlock and only ten warlocks in a hundred could manifest them. It was a necessity and also not a necessity as well, in the sense that anyone could still become a warlock even without manifesting the runes, as long as they had the mind of magic and the halo of spirit.

But a true warlock must manifest his runes, it was the universal acknowledgement for an actual warlock. As for how to manifest runes, it depended on the situation.

The most effective and commonly used one was to train in combat and face a near death situation that'll fully trigger their potential and hence allow them to manifest a rune.

Also, one could manifest a rune if they got a fortuitous inspiration or enlightenment after a long period of meditation or dedication to a particular act. Then there was the generational heritage type of runes for special breeds that were royalty or had powerful ancestral background.

Lastly, people who had formed bonds can also help their partners trigger runes of power.

Of all the options, the only positive and most ideal one for Adrian was the combat method of manifestation. According to the book, the supposed fight had to be super tasking to the mind and also involve magical exchange for a higher chance of success.

Adrian needed to leave this castle to do so but he was completely clueless about how he was going to do it. It was then he suddenly remembered the chopped off neon stone he got in the golden pond. He had enclosed it into a pendant and hung it on his wrist.

On recalling it, he immediately flipped his wrist and cracked the pendant open, it was no longer a neon stone but a glittering green stone. There was also a more magical sense to it which he didn't perceive initially, possibly because he had yet to unlock his magical halo.

As Adrian held the object, his mind felt it deeply and hence he was able to wrap around the stone with his magical halo as a means of establishing a connection.

Adrian's magic was still in the appearance of water as he was still in the earlier stages and had not unlocked a special rune that could alter its nature.

If he unlocked a rune with fire attribute, his magic would be of the nature of flame. However, if he unlocked a rune with ice attribute or wood attribute, his magic would either be snowy or flowery to suit the rune's nature.

As soon as Adrian's magical halo wrapped around the stone, his figure vanished. He disappeared from the castle in a mysterious manner only to reappear in a different place.

The world which he entered had a weird green sky. The sun was its normal colour though and even warmer but the green clouds just made everywhere appear ominous and unusual.

THUD!

Adrian fell from the sky in a second and hit the ground with little grace left in him.

"Is..." He immediately became dumbstruck after landing on the ground, his appearance was abrupt, sudden and frightened those around where he landed.

When he stomped just now, he somehow scared a group of young fairies who were having fun and chatting together.

"Hey! That isn't polite at all" a blue haired girl in the group spoke out. Her blue butterfly wings flapped lightly behind her back as she spoke in midair.

"I apologise for causing nuisance..." Adrian tried to politely reply but he was cut short.
