Chapter 3: Caught
"Make sure you wash the car well after you dump him," Maril ordered as she watched Yoda and Rambo roughly push their captive inside the same car they had previously used. The man was unconscious and had no idea what was happening to him. He didn't even react when his head bumped against the car roof.
"I will, Diva. Don't worry. I will ensure it is as good as new," Yoda promised. After all, it was his car to begin with.
"Good. I will be off now. See you tomorrow."
"What about my dinner?" Yoda stopped suddenly when he realized he was the only one yet to eat.
'Oops.' Maril almost smacked her head when she realized what she had forgotten. 'Nevertheless, I felt something was missing. I forgot to feed Yoda.'
Turning around, she flashed an apologetic smile at him. "How about you buy whatever you want? I'll send you the money."
"Really? Can I do that?" Yoda's eyes lit up, and he smiled with joy. It was not every day that he was this blessed. He had a stingy Boss. Although she took good care of them, her way of taking care was sort of convoluted and different. So, he decided to make use of the opportunity to the fullest.
"Why not? Buy whatever you want after you dispose of this man."
"Yes, Diva. Thank you so much." Yoda almost cried in happiness. If not for his blood-coated hands, he would have rushed to hug the lady.
'What a fool!' Rambo thought when he saw Yoda's touched expression. 'Do you really think you can eat whatever you want? Is Diva that generous? It will take us more than an hour to dump him and by the time we return and change out of our clothes, most of the restaurants will be closed.'
Rambo didn't point out the truth to him, leaving the poor man to fantasize about delicious food. There was nothing wrong with dreaming.
Guilty, Maril averted her gaze from Rambo who seemed to have caught onto her plan. "I'm going to leave now. Be careful."
While the two men took the car they had previously used, Maril chose another car. In their hurry, nobody noticed the small device that had slipped out of the captive's coat and rolled under the tool stand.
The two cars drove out of the garage one after the other until they reached the main road before turning in different directions.
Meanwhile, Rhysand returned to the company and waited for the lady to arrive. The company was just a small branch of his empire. Most of the matters were usually handled by the Vice-President who would report to him later. So, not many people knew who the actual owner was.
Moreover, the company was named after his mother's family name. There was no way anyone would associate him to be the owner.
"Don, do you have any orders for me?"
"Yes, there is something I want you to do."
"Yes, Don." Luca listened to him attentively. He had an inkling that whatever he'd be doing was closely associated with the lady they had followed.
"The lady we followed will be visiting us soon. Make sure you treat her well."
"Don?" Luca had no idea what the man meant, and he gave him a puzzled look.
Rhysand's lips quirked up as he revealed his plan and Luca almost kneeled and kowtowed before him.
'Don, I want to ask why you are choosing to use such a complex and aberrant method to meet the lady. Can't you just meet her normally? But I have an inkling that if I asked you, I might lose my tongue. So, I choose to be mute now rather than be mute forever.' Although Luca was speaking to himself in his mind, his expression was vivid and vibrant and none of them went unnoticed by the man before him.
"Any problem?" Rhysand quirked his brow at him, shaking him out of his stupor and Luca shook his head instantly.
"No problem, Don. No problem at all. I will do as you say."
"Good. Make sure not to hurt her."
"Yes, Don."
"Otherwise...."
"You can trust me on this, Don. I will do a good job," Luca promised.
Rhysand nodded and returned his gaze to his laptop, and that was Luca's cue to leave the office.
'Let's see how you will handle this matter,' Rhysand thought and opened the surveillance software on his laptop. He focused on the cameras placed near the entrance and outside the building. He had to find her first before he followed her.
Rhysand waited. It should not be long before she arrived. Just then, he sensed a movement in one of the cameras and he focused his attention on it instantly.
There she was, sneakily approaching the building. Her actions reminded him of his cat, Ginger. He couldn't make out her face. She was wearing a cap, a mask, and a pair of sunglasses.
Rhysand's lips twitched when he saw her disguise. He applauded her cautious brain. She was definitely to his liking and he now looked forward to seeing how she appeared behind her mask.
"Luca, she's near the entrance. Get to work."
"Yes, Don."
Rhysand didn't move his gaze away from the figure on the screen and started to follow her, tracking her every movement.
Meanwhile, oblivious to the pair of eyes watching her every move like a hawk, Maril looked around vigilantly. Oddly, the security guards were nowhere in sight. Compared to a few hours ago, when the guards were still present, the place now seemed deserted. There was no one in sight and Maril rejoiced at her luck.
'This makes things easy,' she thought and approached the entrance door. The sensors detected her and the doors parted automatically, the sudden movement startling her. But she calmed down the next instant and started executing her plan.
Maril looked at the desk right beside the entrance door. With careful and accurate calculations, she aimed at the desk before throwing the file. And voila, she succeeded in her first attempt. The file fell on the desk haphazardly. But she didn't care about it. Her work was done. It was time for her to leave.
However, the moment she turned around, her eyes constricted when she saw the man standing behind her.
