Chapter 10: Should I be a magic caster?
The ride was extremely boring since i couldn't do anything other then talk with Ither, he didn't seem like he wanted to talk to me, so I didn't even push it.
since I had only just woken up I couldn't fall asleep so I was stuck in an extremely warm boring box with an old man who didn't feel like talking for around Im guessing 6 hours.
and when we did finally get there we had to be checked a bunch and go through a metric shit ton of security checks because apparently 1 isn't enough.
but eventually we did get to the main lab area "So how do these work?" I asked, one of the scientists walked up to me "So place your hand on the stone and push your mana into it, if it glows you have that element" he sighed as if he had said these words hundreds of times "Now since you likely cant choose to switch your mana elements, we wont be able to tell you if you have any Deviant magics" I nodded "Makes sense" I placed my hand on a crystal that was labeled wind.
It began to glow, the scientist who was helping us through this jotted that down on a small pad "Ok continue" the next one was a red crystal and it also glowed, so I also had fire "Pretty impressive" the Scinetist mumbled, and the final crystal that glowed was a black ish one that was earth, so the only element out of the basic ones I didn't have was Water.
"You might have a big future ahead of yourself kid, especially with Lord Ither teaching you" I nodded "Is that it?" I asked the scientist shook his head "One final test, we need to see what your core Level is at, the closer it is to white the better, since white is the highest, but most mages are at red" he just raised more questions for me.
he saw that I was clearly confused "So there are a few core stages each one signify a purity level and a new layer that strengthens the surface" I nodded since it made sense so far "And the starting point for someone magic capable is black, since it shows the most impuritys and white is the highest since is shows no Impuritys in the mana, now I suspect that you'll be at black" I sighed, I hadn't even known about any of this until today.
the Scientist set his hand on my chest "Still its impressive that someone as young as you has a core to begin with" I didn't respond "And yep you are at a black core, not progressed at all" I sighed "Well that's all" he stood up and brought his note pad to a desk "get out, your tests are done"
I left the room "So howd it go Ezra" Ither asked I shrugged in response "Ok I guess, I have 3 elements" he nodded "Pretty impressive, well lets get going" we didn't have to go through the 15 billion security checks and instead just walked straight through everything to the Heat death box.
and we began for home, the sun had started to set when we got in the buggy.
