Chapter 446: Interrogation Room
Sekani grinned and looked at Jesús with an 'I told you so', he was obviously only guessing but to be absolutely spot on was also welcome. The man who opened wasn't one of the ones they met at the mountains.
His face was scarred as though his whole life was lived in a battlefield, which would've been a tad bit impossible in Sanctauri as they didn't have any wars since the founding of their country. Naturally, they were interested in knowing how he got those scars but it wasn't as if the man would just sit with them and tell them his life story.
"Gentlemen, I'm commander Boyd, I'll be personally taking care of you while you're here." His smile came out hard and forced.
The two prisoners just kept staring at the commander, if they didn't know any better they'd think he'd been in the jungle fighting wild animals but since he was a corrupt government official it was pretty easy to guess why he had so many scars and why he showed them off so proudly.
"It's rude to stare." He took a sit and sighed. "I'm guessing you're wondering why I have this many scars?"
"No."
"Not really."
They were sure he was sent here to torture them into confessing a crime they didn't do. They naturally wanted to get this over and done with, stalling wouldn't do them any good. Since their eyes were cameras, the sooner he got to work the better.
"Come on you don't have to lie to me, it's quite a story. Don't you want to hear it?"
"No."
"Not really."
They hadn't communicated this amongst themselves, but they were set on making him angry. Wipe the smug smile off his face, thwart the cocky atmosphere about him.
"I'll tell it anyway..."
"Aggh. Hey Silva, do you suppose they made it?" Sekani turned to his companion not wanting to listen to whatever rambling the man was going to get into.
He was sure that he only wanted to tell them whatever it was to scare them into talking. But whatever it was that he went through, it simply wasn't enough to scare off someone like Sekani.
"Them? I'm sure they did." Jesús didn't understand why he was bringing them up, the government didn't need to know that they had accomplices on this matter.
They needed to take away that suspicion as far as possible.
Neither of them saw it coming but commander Boyd held Sekani by the back of his head and attempted to slam it onto the table. But Sekani was able to stop the momentum before his face smashed the table.
"Never, ever disturb me while I'm talking. Hear that? Slum rat?"
"Loud and clear," Sekani pushed back his hand, and for a while they had a contest of who had the most strength.
One would've thought the guy using his hand should've been the clear winner but little by little Sekani's head was rising from the table, he turned his head to look at the man with a huge smirk on his face.
"Commander Boyd." He finished his sentence looking him right in the eyes, defiant right to the end.
He knew they wouldn't just kill them without them confessing anything. They needed people to pin this to, no matter how much they would spin it to the public if it was without a confession there would always be murmurs about this. Your next journey awaits at empire
"Then let's get right to it shall we?" He cleared his throat taking his hand away from the man. "Why were you two in that mountain?"
"Sightseeing." Sekani simply answered.
"And then ended up killing people guarding that place?" His eyebrow was furrowed as he asked.
"It was like that when we got there."
"True, true." Jesús agreed.
Boyd sat back on his chair, "you quite literally have blood on your clothes!"
That was the only thing they failed to clean up with the limited water they had. Their faces and hands were clean, while their clothes were draped in blood. Especially for Sekani, while his suit and shirt were black, his tie wasn't.
Though the colour of their clothing didn't matter much because they had their tech that scanned blood from clothes.
"Well, what it was is that, when we got there we tried to resuscitate them to no avail. We really tried, but we were too late. Your men caught us as we were about to call you guys." Sekani answered without missing a beat.
"It's as Waynworth said, we were too late to save their poor souls." Jesús kept repeating and agreeing.
Boyd let out a howl, the man was laughing but he wasn't the least bit amused. He was laughing in disbelief, it was also the first time he'd been tested like this. Usually the people given to him for interrogation would be so scared by his stories that they would tell him anything he wanted.
He changed his pace by grabbing Jesús and slamming him on the table. Boyd realised that even though he was from a family that had been part of high society for long, between these two he was the weak link.
"Are you ready to tell me the truth now?"
"The truth?" Jesús said almost losing his composure, he was pretty sure his nose was broken and it became a tap for blood. "That's what we've been telling you." He chuckled.
This earned him a punch in the gut, he coughed while still chuckling. Not that he wasn't in pain, he could feel it from every inch of fatigued body but at the same time he was growing a little numb.
The mocking in his tone made Boyd lose his mind and just continued to pound him until he passed out.
"Imagine killing the head of the Silva family, you must hate your life huh?" Sekani didn't know how else to get him away from Jesús.
"Shut your mouth!" He snapped, taking a few strides to Sekani and beating him just the same. "You both think you're so great huh, I'll show you greatness."
He pushed a button and the room got a lot brighter. Hangingfrom the roof was a chain that slowly came down and he wrapped it around Sekani's ankle.
'Don't pass out, don't pass out, don't pass out.' Sekani kept telling himself, passing out would mean the recording would cease.
