Chapter 15: Into the Abyss
At the camping site in the suburbs, the sun shines through the leaves in dappled patterns on the bodies of the four girls. Tina Yuzuki, Kaede Karen, Kuilading and Jennifer are gradually waking up from their dreams. The surroundings were filled with the whispers of the trees and the sound of the breeze. It was supposed to be a peaceful day, but there was an undercurrent of uneasiness.
"Oh, good morning! Did you hear that voice?" Jennifer rubbed her eyes, trying to wake up.
"Yeah, I heard it too." Tina frowned and looked through the camp into the distance. She vaguely felt something was wrong, "Karen, Kuilading, did you also notice a person coming over there?"
Karen and Kuilading looked at each other, then turned to look in the direction Tina pointed. They saw a figure walking slowly towards this side, but the man's movements were a little weird, and his body was swaying, like a drunken man who had lost his balance.
"I think something's wrong with him..." Karen began to feel a little uneasy, "Don't you think the way he walks is weird?"
"Yeah, it seems..." Kuilading swallowed, feeling vaguely uneasy in his heart, "It seems... he was injured."
"No, stop joking." Tina whispered, feeling a little nervous. As that person got closer and closer, the four of them became more and more nervous. "Quick, everyone, be careful!"
"Who is he?" Jennifer's voice was trembling. She tried to stand up, but she couldn't get rid of the fear in her heart.
At this moment, the man came completely closer, revealing his pale face. The four people were horrified to find that it was a zombie with filthy liquid flowing from the corners of its mouth. Its eyes were hollow and terrifying, and there was no humanity at all.
Karen screamed in horror, "Ah! Those are zombies!"
"Run!" Kuilading's voice was high-pitched, and she pulled Jennifer, and the four of them started running towards the camper.
Karen's scream was like an alarm bell, instantly waking up the entire camp. People in the campsite also woke up, and there was chaos all around. The appearance of zombies caused panic, and many people ran away screaming.
Tina commanded loudly, "Quick, get in the car! Everyone, get in the car!" When she saw Jennifer was still in the tent, she shouted anxiously: "No more, everyone, get in the car!"
In this sudden chaos, the four people finally gathered in the camper because they were running fast. Tina quickly closed the car door, her heart beating like thunder. Facing Jennifer in the driver's seat, she patted her shoulder and encouraged: "You can do it, drive! We have to escape!"
Jennifer nodded, tried to calm down, and quickly started the engine. The car roared and rushed out of the camp. Through the panic and screaming along the way, the heartbeats of the four girls became faster and faster as the speed of the car increased.
But when they entered the suburban residential area, they were horrified to find that the world had changed. The streets were full of zombies, and the sounds of vehicle collisions and heart-rending screams intertwined together, like a doomsday symphony.
"How could this place become like this..." Kuilading's voice trembled, his eyes full of fear, "What should we do? There is no safe place here at all!"
"We have to find a place to hide!" Tina said nervously, "Jennifer, stop, we have to find a way!"
Jennifer stepped on the brakes and the car slid down the street and stopped. The four people sat around in the car, and the atmosphere was tense and solemn.
"I think it's safe in the car, so let's not get out of the car." Kuilading said, trying to calm down.
"But if we don't find food, we will starve to death." Jennifer frowned with a determined expression, "We must find a way to find food and water."
"I know there's a box of mineral water in the car, but we have to find food." Tina said, "Karen, what do you think?"
Karen's eyes show concern, "I have family here, and there are other people in the city, and I have to go find them."
"Me too, I have family in the city," Kuilading echoed, "We can't just give up."
After some discussion, the four finally decided to abandon the car and walk into the city. They know the risks, but the longing for their families in their hearts cannot make them back down.
The four of them got out of the car, feeling uneasy. The street in front of them was completely silent, with the occasional low roar of zombies heard. Tina mustered up her courage, held up the team's head, and led them forward cautiously.
"Keep quiet, don't make any noise." Tina warned in a low voice, holding the kitchen knife in her hand tightly and alert to her surroundings.
They walked on the empty streets, the surrounding shops were in a mess, glass fragments were scattered everywhere, and from time to time they could see overturned vehicles and people's belongings. A trace of despair inevitably arose in their hearts. This was a situation they had never imagined.
Just as they were walking through an alley, two zombies suddenly appeared in front of them, with ferocious faces and roaring towards them. Karen covered her mouth in horror, her eyes full of fear.
"Quick, go back!" Tina commanded in a low voice, but she also felt a sense of despair in her heart. They had no way out.
Kuilading grabbed Tina's hand tightly and wanted to turn around and run away, but Tina held her tightly. "We can't retreat, remember, stay calm!"
Jennifer raised her baseball bat and prepared to attack. The pace of the zombies is gradually approaching, and the hearts of the four girls are beating faster and faster as time goes by.
Just when the zombies were about to approach, Jennifer swung the baseball bat and hit the nearest zombie hard. The zombie was knocked down instantly, but with this sound, another zombie turned its head and rushed towards them.
"Quick, go to the right!" Tina shouted, and the four of them quickly dodged to one side, but the zombies followed them closely and continued to chase them. Just when they seemed to be at the end of their rope, Karen suddenly remembered that there was a small supermarket ahead!
"There! Let's go there!" Karen pointed in the direction of the supermarket, and the four of them immediately rushed in that direction. The zombies were roaring behind them, and although they were frightened, they did not stop.
Finally, they arrived at the door of the supermarket. Tina rushed forward and opened the door, and the four of them rushed in quickly. Although there was no one inside, it was filled with food and water, as if waiting for their arrival.
"We found it!" Kuilading couldn't help shouting happily.
"Quickly, go get food and water!" Jennifer also rushed in, feeling extremely relieved.
In the tense atmosphere, the four people dispersed, each looking for food to fill their stomachs. Everyone realizes that success at this moment is their hope of regaining their lives.
While they were busy, they suddenly heard a rush of footsteps outside the door. Tina and Karen looked at each other and immediately became alert. The four of them immediately gathered in the supermarket. The four of them gathered together, and the sound of heartbeats filled the tranquility. of air. Tina frowned slightly and whispered, "We have to be careful, do you hear me? There is movement outside."
Karen also pointed at the front door of the supermarket, "Who is that? We have to find a place to hide." There was a hint of uneasiness in her voice, and her eyes involuntarily glanced at the back door, as if she was worried about what was hidden in that dark corner. .
"We can't stay here for too long. There may be a lot of zombies outside." Kuilading was anxious, his mouth trembling slightly, "If they come in..."
Jennifer tightened her grip on the baseball bat in her hand and frowned, "Why don't we act separately and meet at the intersection ahead after everyone escapes."
"It's too dangerous to act separately!" Tina immediately shook her head, "We must stay united so that we can protect each other." She widened her eyes and looked anxiously at the door, as if she had heard the sound approaching.
The four of them quickly looked around, looking for a place to hide. Supermarket shelves are cluttered, with fallen cans and scattered food adding to the chaos. They all know in their hearts that no matter how much risk there is outside, finding food and water is a top priority.
"There's water here! And cans!" Karen shouted from behind a tall shelf, quickly throwing a few bottles of water and a few cans to everyone. "We have to bring these!"
Kuilading caught a can and quickly opened it—corn in golden syrup. "This will last us a while, this is perfect!"
But just as they were busy gathering supplies, the footsteps outside grew louder. Jennifer strained her ears and heard the growls of zombies, accompanied by the sound of metal clashing. "Quick! They're coming!"
