Chapter 16: Decision
Not keeping any more suspense, Lawyer Feng broke the intense silence.
"Miss Ming Yue, the will reads that the villa you used to live abroad will belong to you from now on. Alongside that, there are 7 orphanages sponsered in your name for the past 10 years and will be followed for another 3."
"Next, Miss Shen stipulated that, under no condition must you be not free, that is, your freedom as an adult is what's most important and thus, a villa in the Capital has also been named for you."
"There is also..."
Lawyer Feng kept speaking about properties and more charities in her name but they were actually all done by Grandma Shen, so she wanted to change that.
[...Host.]
The system seemed hesitant to tell her something when she sighed inwardly, 'I know.'
She could feel the covetous, angry, jealous glares from Shen Pei'er and her brother.
After all, Shen Pei'er self-righteously believed she was lost because of Grandma Shen and everything should belong to her as compensation.
Alas, she was too shortsighted and could never imagine Grandma Shen to leave it all to Ming Yue!
Even if was given to her father, seeing his pursed lips and barely calm expression revealed his desire for these things.
However, the one thing they wanted so desperately yet could not yield because of a simple clause.
"...under no condition must you be not free..."
It simply meant if she was coerced, cornered, coaxed, then she could just send a simple message to Lawyer Feng and everything would be sold.
Not just that, the inheritance of Father Shen hung by the thread as long as Ming Yue was alive and kicking and she couldn't even be controlled.
Her own biological Grandmother had done that.
Unlike her, Father Shen was extremely angry and could barely control himself thinking that it was fine, he could still find some loopholes.
Unfortunately, that hope shattered the mroe he listened.
It seemed that his own mother knew him better than he had let on, and had left no loopholes to be exploited unless Ming Yue was an idiot.
And given how she even disregarded his son when he accepted that apology in her stead, it was obvious she had her pride and wouldn't bend so easily.
However, the worst of his fears hadn't come true so he was a bit relaxed, unaware that Ming Yue was simply the bane of his existence.
She was thinking of something far exceeding even his worst of fears.
"...and that's it, Miss. Are there any questions?"
Lawyer Feng personally asked, stunning her assistant for a second before he quickly composed hinself and thought that maybe Ming Yue was a greedy girl and would ask for more.
Or maybe she would show up a pretense to live in the wealthy Shen Family by giving them everything.
"...Am I allowed to transfer these assets?" Ming Yue asked after pondering for a while.
Unlike the delusional Shen Family who thought she would give it to them and even believed it to be for the sake of living with them, Feng detected a reluctance to accept such wealth.
'Maybe she's a bit too young and doesn't want to be burdened,' she thought, unaware of the devious thoughts in the cute girl's mind.
"I'm afraid not," Lawyer Feng replied firmly after going through it mentally once more.
"At least not for the next 3 years."
That was what gave the Shen Family hope while to Ming Yue—it was nothing more than irksome.
'No! My grandma left it to me, I won't hand them over...'
"Can we discuss it privately?" Ming Yue asked, not wanting the Shen Family to hear her plans or let them morally blackmail her.
She had decided to leave after discussing with Lawyer Feng without ever meeting them.
At least, she hoped it to be possible, but even she wasn't sure.
Well, that was all up to fate, or was it?
"As you wish," Lawyer Feng nodded to her and walked out before anyone could interrupt her.
"NO!" Brother Shen shouted but Ming Yue couldn't be bothered, just rolling her eyes before dodging his attempts to grasp her wrist.
She knew he was enraged and would come after her, but she would already be in a secure car by then, making him helpless to attack it, unless he wanted to be sued by an excellent lawyer.
"Then, can you name all those charities back to Grandma's and keep them running as her proxy? If it's not enough, you can take the villa in this city as compensation for your work and running them for an additional time as long as the money permits it."
That was what Ming Yue requested right after being seated, and her request truly surprised both Feng and her assistant.
It seemed they had underestimated the figure trusted by their old employer, Grandma Shen.
Lawyer Feng smiled in response, "As you wish. It's fully possible. However, there's no need to pay me or give anything as compensation or leverage. I was paid enough for this job."
There was a hint of unknown in her eyes but Ming Yue ignored it, but how could her system ignore a crucial detail?
[Host, she has been helped by Grandma Shen as one of the orhpans supported by her and has a very righteous personality, so she thinks helping her carry out her will and charity would be a way of repayment.]
'Oh. She's a really nice person.'
[Not just that, host. She had decided to prolong the charities as long as she could and even found a generous sponser who was also helped by Grandma Shen's kindness who promised her to pay for at least 10 years.]
'...Is that correct? 10 years for that many charities... Surely, the amount will reach millions if not tens of millions.'
Ming Yue was quite interested in this rich sponsor, but it didn't matter at the moment.
"Uhm, can you help me cut off any relationship with the Shen Family? Also, I am willing to give out the villa and assets in this city because I don't want to be in the same city as them nor did I plan that."
It was the complete truth as Ming Yue didn't even want to come back with them.
She had her own plans and considerations.
Although she wasn't sure this was a real world or if she got transmigrated to this world, she couldn't take risks.
What if that nutjob of a Shen Pei'er was the protagonist?
Though the possibility was negligible, she could very well be a vicious supporting character, truly not worth being around.
'Aside from that also, they're just not worth it.'
