The Forgotten Dream Maker

Chapter 2: Shadows of Broken Dreams

**

After those strange nights, Youssef began to notice changes in his daily life. He could no longer pass by any electronic device without feeling that peculiar tingling in his fingers, as if those devices were calling out to him, whispering secrets he had yet to understand. He decided to start recording everything that happened to him in a small notebook, as if trying to decode a great mystery.

One day, while Youssef was repairing a mobile phone for a middle-aged man, he felt that urgent desire to touch the screen again. This time, he didn't resist. He placed his finger on the cracked screen, and suddenly, he found himself in a dark, foggy place. It resembled a deserted city, with old buildings and empty streets. He heard a distant crying sound and followed it until he found the man who had come to the shop, standing in front of a large mirror.

The man was staring into the mirror, his eyes filled with tears. Youssef approached him and asked, "What do you see?"

The man looked at Youssef and said in a trembling voice, "I see myself, but I'm not who I want to be. I've lost everything."

Youssef felt profound sadness. He said to him, "You can't lose yourself. You always have the chance to change what you see."

The man began to cry bitterly, then said, "But I don't know where to start."

Youssef decided to help him. He said, "Let me help you. We'll start together."

Youssef took the man's hand and led him through the dark streets. They were searching for something, something that could restore the man's hope. After a while, they found a glowing door at the end of one of the streets. They opened the door and found themselves in a beautiful garden, filled with flowers and fruit-bearing trees.

Youssef said to the man, "This is the place where you can start. Everything here grows anew."

For the first time, the man smiled and said, "Thank you. You've given me hope."

Once again, Youssef felt dizzy and returned to the shop. But this time, he felt something different. He felt that he was beginning to understand the nature of this ability—that it wasn't just about entering others' dreams, but also about fixing what was broken in their souls.

In the following days, Youssef began to notice that the people he had helped in their dreams were changing in the real world. The man who had been crying in front of the mirror returned to the shop to tell Youssef that he was starting to feel better and had decided to begin a new life. The elderly woman who had felt lonely came to thank him for his words that had given her peace.

But with all these positive changes, Youssef began to notice something else. Sometimes, when he entered others' dreams, he would see strange shadows moving in the background. These shadows seemed to be watching him, following his every move. At first, he ignored them, but they began to appear more frequently, making him feel uneasy.

One night, Youssef decided to try to understand those shadows. He placed his hand on an old television in the shop and entered a new dream. This time, he found himself in a strange place, resembling a dark maze. The place was filled with closed doors and narrow passages. He heard a voice whispering his name from afar, so he followed it until he found himself in front of a large door, locked with a massive padlock.

Youssef tried to open the door, but he couldn't. He heard the voice again, this time more clearly. The voice said, "You don't belong here. This is not your task."

Youssef felt fear, but he decided to confront the voice. He said, "Who are you? What do you want from me?"

The shadows around him gathered, forming a strange figure that seemed like a mix of darkness and fire. The figure said, "I am the guardian of this world. And you are meddling in what you shouldn't."

Youssef said, "I'm just trying to help."

The guardian laughed in a terrifying voice and said, "Help? You're creating chaos. Every dream you enter, you leave a mark that cannot be repaired."

Youssef felt confused. He said, "I don't understand. What do you mean?"

The guardian said, "This world is not your playground. If you continue to interfere, the consequences will be dire."

Before Youssef could respond, he felt dizzy again and returned to the shop. This time, he felt intense fear. He began to wonder if what he was doing was right, or if he was indeed creating bigger problems than he was solving.

Youssef decided to take a break and stop entering others' dreams for a while. But he didn't know that those shadows were just the beginning of something bigger, something that would change his life forever.
