The Forgotten Dream Maker

Chapter 7: The Shattered Mirror

**

After Youssef and Layla returned from their last confrontation with the Eternal Darkness, they felt exhausted but also with a strange sense that something was missing. The Eternal Darkness hadn't completely disappeared; instead, it seemed to have transformed into something else, something more mysterious and dangerous.

That night, as Youssef tried to sleep, he had a strange dream. He was standing in front of a large mirror, but his reflection wasn't what he remembered. It looked like someone else, someone with harsh features and glowing red eyes. Youssef tried to touch the mirror, but it suddenly shattered into thousands of pieces, each reflecting a different image of him.

Youssef woke up in a panic, drenched in sweat. He looked at Layla, who was sitting beside him, and said, "I saw something strange. It was like I was looking at myself, but it wasn't me."

Layla said, "Dreams can be deceiving. But this dream might be a message."

Youssef and Layla decided to search for the meaning of this dream. Youssef placed his hand on the television screen, and they entered the dream world together. This time, they found themselves in a strange place resembling an ancient palace filled with mirrors. Each mirror reflected a different version of Youssef: a child, a young man, an old man, and even a version of him that looked evil.

Layla said, "This place is the place of memories. The mirrors reflect everything you've been and everything you could be."

Youssef approached one of the mirrors and saw himself as a child, playing in the garden of their old house. He felt nostalgia but also sadness. He said, "I'd forgotten these memories."

Layla said, "The Eternal Darkness uses our memories against us. We need to find the mirror that reflects your true heart."

They began wandering among the mirrors, and each step felt like they were diving deeper into their memories. After a while, they found a large mirror covered in thick dust. When Youssef wiped the dust away, he saw himself standing before the Eternal Darkness, but this time, the Eternal Darkness looked exactly like him.

Youssef said, "What is this?"

Layla said, "This is your inner reflection. The Eternal Darkness isn't just an external force; it's a part of you."

Youssef was shocked. He said, "How can I be the Eternal Darkness?"

Layla replied, "We all carry light and darkness within us. The Eternal Darkness exploits our fears and weaknesses to grow. If we want to stop it, you must confront the dark part of yourself."

Youssef approached the mirror and felt a strange heaviness. He placed his hand on its surface, and suddenly, he found himself in a dark place, face to face with a dark version of himself.

The Eternal Darkness said, "Finally, you've faced the truth. I am you, and you are me."

Youssef said, "I am not you. I am more than this."

The Eternal Darkness laughed and said, "You carry all your fears, all your doubts, all your pain. I am a part of you, and you can't escape me."

The battle began, but this time, it was a battle within Youssef himself. He tried to use his power, but the Eternal Darkness knew every move he wanted to make. Youssef began to feel exhausted, but he remembered Layla's words: "You're stronger than you think."

Youssef gathered all his energy and began to imagine himself as a whole person, carrying both light and darkness within him. He said, "I accept all that I am. I'm not perfect, but I choose to be better."

Light began to spread around him, and the Eternal Darkness started to retreat. The Eternal Darkness said, "You can't escape me forever."

Youssef replied, "I won't escape. I accept you as a part of me, but I won't let you control me."

At that moment, the Eternal Darkness disappeared, and Youssef found himself standing in front of the mirror, which now reflected his true self. For the first time in a long while, he felt at peace.

Youssef and Layla returned to the shop, knowing that the battle wasn't over yet. But Youssef knew he had taken a big step toward understanding himself and his power. He knew the Eternal Darkness might return, but he was ready to face it—not as an enemy, but as a part of himself that needed healing.
