The Genius of Cloning in the Academy City

Chapter 379

– Ugh!

A low vibrating sound pierced through the silent darkness and tickled my ears.

It was supposed to be a moment of peace after inspecting the recovery site.

The brow of the Financial Director, who had been dozing off at home, furrowed. Groaning softly, he slowly opened his eyes, drawn to the cell phone on the shelf.

“What now, at this hour…?”

As he instinctively reached out, his movements stopped, caught in an unshakable sensation.

With wide-open eyes, he quickly assessed his situation. His limbs were firmly secured to the bed frame.

But even more chilling was the sight that awaited him.

“You’re awake!”

“Uncle’s awake!”

The voices rang out in perfect unison.

Under the moonlight, flickering like a field of wheat, a circle of identical small girls surrounded the bed.

The Director’s eyes darted. It took less than a second for him to realize their true nature.

‘Impossible! Didn’t they all die? No, are they a different swarm? How…’

Fortunately—or rather, unfortunately—his chaotic thoughts didn’t last long.

What caught his eye first was the cold, glimmering tool in the moonlight.

The small girls were grinning fiercely as they surrounded the bed.

“Mm! Mmm!”

At that moment, one of the small Violets directed her gaze towards the phone on the shelf.

She glanced at the Director, a sly smile creeping on her face as she loosened his gag.

“So, do you have something to say?”

“…Don’t think that taking me out will bring down the Foundation.”

With a stern reply, the Violet smirked and used tape to seal his mouth perfectly.

Before he could even question what was happening, the sound of wings flapping cut through the still air.

“Is this enough?”

The parrot perched on her shoulder responded clearly to its owner’s question.

“Alright, uh… Hmph! We’re ready!”

The Financial Director’s eyes widened in terror. Cold sweat trickled down his back as he witnessed his voice echoing from the beast’s throat.

The Violet, beaming with a sense of victory, held the phone high and walked into the living room, leaving the Director aghast at the unfolding dialogue.

“Yes, it’s me! Got it…”

As the subject realized the desperate situation, the small Violets continued unhindered, moving to the next step.

The girl at his bedside firmly gripped his temple with a cold hand.

Realizing the clones’ intentions, the Director twisted his limbs, struggling desperately.

“Stay still. If you behave, you can live cutely.”

“Exactly! Exactly!”

The small Violets looked on in bewilderment. They couldn’t comprehend why he was so terrified.

Otherworldly beings and elite agents all lived peacefully within their network, maintaining their past memories and identities.

It was simply that the new identity of being a Violet took precedence over all past identities.

“Just think of it as becoming one of us!”

A strange feeling flickered in a corner of the Violet’s heart.

The thought that she should save this foolish being. Why that feeling even emerged, she couldn’t tell.

She hesitated for a moment, feeling the chilling sensation within, but soon her resolve solidified.

“Well… it won’t hurt!”

As the Violet activated her Unique Ability, the wave of Ether rippled through the air.

A chilling sensation burrowed into the man’s mind.

As the Ether infiltrated his brain and central nervous system, a grotesque scream escaped from his gagged mouth.

“Ugh! Ugh!”

In that fleeting moment, a flash of light erupted from the back of his head.

A short, simple pattern rapidly manifested.

– Boom!

The Director’s head exploded, and red mist filled the air.

The small Violets, now smeared with debris, pouted at the gruesome corpse.

The absorption failed, and the network had only salvaged fragmented memories.

“Ugh! Did they set up something to prevent my Unique Ability? Thorough, aren’t they?”

Indeed, the Foundation was incredibly meticulous, the small Violets thought.

They had underestimated the situation; after the Circle Cliff incident, it seemed the Foundation’s high-ranking members had all had suicidal devices implanted in their heads.

As a result, the Violets had rarely been able to utilize their newly acquired absorption abilities effectively.

“How detestable! Do they hate becoming one of us that much?”

“They’d rather die than become a Violet! What a truly anti-democratic bunch!”

Disappointment washed over the small Violets as they searched through the house.

While they succeeded in gathering some fragmented memories, they deeply regretted not being able to assimilate one of the enemy’s leaders into their network.

“All Violets, listen up!”

The collective intelligence Command Center declared in a resolute tone.

“If they wish for death, then we shall grant that wish!”
