The Genius Tamer of the Academy

Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Adela leaned in, staring intently at Han Siha.

His hands moved busily. Watching the scene unfold—something she had never witnessed before—Adela gritted her teeth.

She had no idea what he was doing.

“Is there such a treatment method?”

“It looks like he’s only making it worse.”

Lee Han’s expression showed that he was equally baffled.

If the potion hadn’t worked, it was already hopeless.

Cutting open the already wounded area would only cause more pain.

They wanted to stop him, but it was impossible to intervene when Han Siha was so engrossed in his task.

“Let him be. He said he’d save him.”

Though it seemed like Lee Han had given up, Adela silently rooted for Han Siha.

For some reason, there was an inexplicable belief that if it was Han Siha, he might just pull it off.

“Hoo.”

Han Siha took a deep breath and raised the knife.

Though they couldn’t understand any of his actions, it was clear that he was focused.
Basilus
Han Siha wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and looked down .

Though the potion had temporarily calmed him, as he had initially assessed, Basilus’ condition was dire, and time was running out.

Adela sat quietly and watched the strange sight of Han Siha attempting to save Basilus through unconventional means instead of using a recovery potion.

The environment was woefully inadequate.

Though he was using the recovery potion as an anesthetic, Basilus’ continuous whimpering indicated he was in considerable pain.

Han Siha first stopped the blood pouring from the wound.

“Hah….”

Next came the suturing.

A task that had caused his hands to tremble in fear despite doing it dozens or even hundreds of times.

Hands that had once been powerless were now finally responding.

He had run away countless times.

Until he could no longer hold a knife in his hand.

And yet, now that he was truly backed into a corner, his hands obeyed him.

‘It’s working.’

Han Siha bit down on his lower lip and quickened his pace.

In the silence, the sharp sound of metal clashing echoed clearly.

He felt like he could save him.

An inexplicable confidence surged from deep within him.

Minutes passed.

Even though the spear had pierced his back, damaging his organs and causing uncontrollable bleeding, Basilus’ breathing gradually stabilized thanks to the combined effects of the potion’s hemostasis and the surgical procedure.

“….”

Exhausted from the pain, Basilus finally fell asleep.

It was a miracle.

By all rights, he should have died.

But… but…

This wasn’t Korea.

This wasn’t a dog, but a dragon.

And he was no longer the Han Siha of the past.

He believed that all these factors had collectively created a miracle.

“Hah.”

Han Siha finally let his trembling hands fall.

For the first time since the mansion, a smile appeared on his previously tense face.

“I-I saved him.”

“What?”

Adela’s jaw dropped in astonishment.

‘What did I just witness?’

The sight of a dying dragon being dissected and stitched back together only to be brought back to life was astonishing. It was like witnessing a miracle or perhaps even a dark ritual.

Even Lee Han, who had been half-turned away in resignation, whipped his head around.

“How did you do it?”

Just as he was about to demand an explanation from Han Siha in his shock—

“It’s done… Hah… I’m sorry, Basilus.”

Han Siha staggered, then collapsed to the side.

“Han Siha! Han Siha!”

“Hey!”

* * *

The infirmary at Ardel Academy.

Lee Han emerged from the room. Adela, who had been waiting anxiously outside, rushed over to him.

“How is he? What’s his condition? It’s not too serious, is it?”

Questions fired off like a rapid volley.

Lee Han calmly tried to reassure her.

“He’s somewhat recovered. They said it’s best to leave him alone for a while, though.”

He wasn’t even sure how they had managed to bring Han Siha back to Ardel.

Rumors had already spread through Ardel Academy that they had been attacked by someone while returning from an official event of the Magic Association.

On top of that, recent incidents suggested the possibility that this attack was related to dark wizards.

Strangely enough, the rumors were remarkably accurate.

It was a miracle they had returned safely.

Lee Han took a small cube out of his pocket. The cube, just small enough to fit in one hand, emitted a faint blue light.

It radiated an immense amount of mana.

Lee Han took a deep breath and put the cube back in his pocket.

He still needed to figure out where to seal it.

“There are many people after this.”

“Of course.”

“We went through too much trouble to lose it now.”

Lee Han let out a quiet sigh, lowering his voice.

There was one more piece of bad news he hadn’t yet shared with Han Siha.

“There’s going to be a trial tomorrow about the theft at the Magic Department.”

“What?”

Adela’s eyes widened as she clenched her fists.

She had thought things would settle down now that they had stolen the cube and brought Han Siha back to life.

But Lee Han remained composed.

They wouldn’t be able to bring up Professor Divert Grunui anyway.

Even if someone had released them, that person couldn’t be a witness. And besides, he was dead.

In a twisted way, it was fortunate that Divert had taken out all the guards, so they hadn’t been caught.

Adela blinked and asked,

“So we’re going to deny it?”

“I suppose we’ll have to.”

Lee Han muttered firmly under his breath.

Now that they had it, there was no way they could let go of this cube.

A week later, at the trial of the Magic Department.

The courtroom was tense from the beginning, with one professor raising his voice.

“I believe he should be severely punished. How could a mere Academy student covet the property of the Magic Department? This is utterly unacceptable!”

The man, his eyes red with rage, continued his fervent speech.

Professor Bruce, seated beside him, tried to calm him down.

The man was Louis Maxwell, a recently appointed professor at the Magic Department.

He was one of the few professors of commoner origin, and he had a significant inferiority complex due to his background.

The intensity of Louis Maxwell’s attack, directed solely at Han Siha, was clear.

“Look at him, sitting there with that brazen expression!”

“…Well, I can’t exactly sit here with my eyes closed,” Han Siha muttered, scratching his head and shaking it slightly.

Louis Maxwell.

Han Siha recognized the name.

Whenever noble children stood trial, Maxwell would relentlessly dig in, looking for any possible fault to exploit.

Although Han Siha was treated as the discarded youngest child in his family, his family still held more influence than Adela, a commoner, or Lee Han, an orphan.

Professor Louis pointed accusingly at Han Siha, his voice filled with disgust.

“That delinquent must have incited you to steal, didn’t he?”

“No.”

“We didn’t do that.”

Lee Han and Adela immediately responded, causing Louis Maxwell’s face to turn an even deeper shade of red.

Professor Bruce, sitting beside him, shook his head.

“These students aren’t like that. There must have been a misunderstanding.”

“A misunderstanding? Do misunderstandings break vaults these days, Professor Bruce?”

“Huff. It was an accident caused by my negligence.”

Bruce didn’t believe they had acted out of greed.

Their confident and self-assured demeanor didn’t match that of students coveting others’ possessions.

So, Bruce decided to take the blame, considering that the incident had occurred while he had briefly stepped away.

“They’re young students. It would be wise to caution them and ensure this doesn’t happen again.”

“You need to nip problems in the bud, Professor Bruce.”

“These are talented students. They even won the recent Magic Department event. Do you really think it’s necessary to crush them so early?”

“With that kind of talent, they’ll steal even more in the future.”

Louis continued to sneer, showing no signs of calming down.

His reaction was giving Professor Bruce a headache.

There could be many reasons—perhaps they acted out of curiosity or broke the vault while playing around.

But without any evidence, Bruce had no choice but to remain silent.

Louis’ gaze shifted back to Han Siha, who was wrapped in bandages.

Having just been pulled from the infirmary, Han Siha’s appearance was pitiful.

A bitter smile tugged at Louis Maxwell’s lips.

“So, what exactly was in the Magic Department’s basement to leave that student looking like….”

“A monster, perhaps, Professor Louis.”

Laughter echoed in the courtroom.

Han Siha, playing along with the audience, raised his bandaged arm.

“Cool, right? It’s the cast edition.”

Smack.

Adela smacked the back of Han Siha’s head.

“Ow!”

They’re having fun, aren’t they?

Louis Maxwell’s tension-induced headache was reaching its peak.

His voice was filled with irritation as he barked his next question.

“What did you steal?”

“We didn’t steal anything. The vault was broken by accident. As you said, it wasn’t a misunderstanding, Professor Louis.”

“Pfft.”

All items belonging to the Magic Department were stored in secret.

Therefore, the list these students possessed wouldn’t contain the identity of the items, which was a key part of Lee Han’s strategy.

With no evidence, the best course was to deny everything.

“Why were you trying to steal?”

“We got lost. While trying to find an exit, I cast a detection spell, but accidentally destroyed the vault. I must’ve miscalculated the formula. As you know, we haven’t fully learned detection magic yet.”

“That’s right. He’s a bit weak with mana control.”

This only fueled Louis Maxwell’s rage.

“The vault was empty. You dare lie so blatantly!”

“Oh dear, where could it have gone? Maybe it blew up with the vault?”

Han Siha grinned cheekily, his response infuriating Louis even more.

He clenched his fists tightly and glanced at his watch before speaking harshly.

“There was property damage and loss on the third basement floor, and the only outsiders who accessed the area at that time were these students. I think that’s enough evidence to conclude this matter without dragging it out further.”

Everyone nodded in agreement with Louis this time.

Bruce swallowed nervously. If this continued, they wouldn’t be able to avoid punishment.

Given that they were young students, some leniency might be granted, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they ended up in the Magic Department’s underground prison.

The vaults were strictly managed, and any thief caught was punished severely.

This was to ensure the safety and trust of those using the Magic Department’s vaults.

Louis Maxwell leaned back in his chair with a smug expression.

“Once the vault’s owner comes forward, we’ll be able to throw these brats in prison. Especially that arrogant one in the middle.”

The key issue was that the rightful owner of the missing item had not yet come forward.

Bruce lowered his head, swallowing hard.

Just then—

“It seems my students have caused an accident.”

Footsteps echoed through the courtroom as a familiar voice rang out from the back.

Han Siha, Lee Han, and even Louis Maxwell, who had been confidently cornering them, turned to look, surprised.

Adela covered her mouth in shock.

With a relaxed gait and a warm gaze, a dignified professor with round horn-rimmed glasses entered, smiling.

It was Ernest, the Dean of Ardel Academy.

“Dean Ernest?”

“What brings you here?”

“There’s no need for this!”

The professors from the Magic Department groaned in unison.

None of them had expected the Dean of Ardel Academy to personally come and defend the students.

Louis Maxwell’s face turned completely pale, but he quickly gathered his wits.

He needed to act fast.

“How could you allow your students to cause such trouble? This matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Magic Department. Your presence here won’t change anything.”

All eyes were on Dean Ernest as he prepared to speak.

What he said next left everyone stunned.

“I ordered them to do it.”
