The God of calamity’s wife book 2: return of the 13th

Chapter 4: 4 the rimac nivera

Sirius drove his car in the direction of court street and it wasn't long before he could hear the sirens of his fellow officers in pursuit of the car that had hit the man earlier.

It was a black SUV with tinted windows and was going 110 miles per hour as it entered the highway and swerved past other cars who were only going 70. It didn't have its lights on as it veered down the road, the speed increasing. Sirius got behind it as other officers were stuck behind a bit of traffic they had caught up to, a semi truck momentarily blocking their view of the suspect.

The speedometer of his car complained as it continued going up, nearly reaching 200mph.

He was able to reach higher speeds in his car because it was a rimac nivera, a slender black car built for speed that Loki had insisted on giving to him when he graduated the police academy.

It easily kept up with the SUV and he came very close to hitting it but didn't as that wasn't his goal. He used his enhanced vision to try to get a look at who was inside of the car and sure enough, inside there were members of a gang that they often ran into.

Then he went around the car, getting in front of it and slowed down a bit annoying the driver. He didn't have sirens or anything identifying him as a police officer since he usually drove his own vehicle, so the gang members didn't expect that he was actually there to deter them from their escape.

They tried to go around him, but he switched lanes and remained in front of them. The car revved its engine and flashed its headlights at him angrily attempting to get him to move out of the way, only to be met with Sirius decreasing his speed once again, nearly slamming in his breaks.

The man was so surprised that he nearly hit Sirius' bumper.

He lowered the drivers' window and tried shooting at his car, threatening him as the sounds of sirens came closer and Sirius slowed down and weaved his car to end up on the left side of them avoiding tbe bullets and they hit a guard rail instead with a bing sound.

Sirius rolled down his window as well and made eye contact with the driver using his red sinister eyes and smiled a toothy grin at him. His sinister smile showed off his fangs a bit and he revved his engine, feigning that he wanted a drag race.

The astonished driver couldn't believe his boldness and it distracted him long enough that the other officers caught up and lights could be seen flashing in the man's rear view mirror.

They approached a spot where other officers had rolled out spikes to slash the SUV's tires and Sirius and the other officers pulled back just in time to avoid it and allow the suspect to be slowed down completely. The tires making bang noises and then the roll of spikes were pulled quickly out of the way so other people on the highway wouldn't run them over.

The SUV skidded to a stop violently and nearly rolled over, two of its wheels lifting off of the ground before falling back down again.

The men tried to make a break for it, but Sirius outran them and pulled them back towards other officers to apprehend them. Once cuffed, they were placed in the back seats of a few police vehicles.

"That man is a demon!" The driver of the SUV yelled as he was forced into the police car and made eye contact with Sirius again. "You should be afraid to have him have so much authority!"

"Yeah yeah, get in there!" The officer said slamming the car door. "You're one to talk about being a danger to society." He said.

Sirius didn't mind. This gang often ran into him, he had made himself an enemy to them long ago because they targeted vampire citizens in the name of winning the war.

In all reality, they lived in a town that was far away from the war. There was a werewolf settlement that was in a forest near the mountains but it was far out of town and no one dared go close.

The settlement would get rid of anyone that came too close, but as long as they stayed away, they had stayed out of the war so far.

In this town, vampires would often go missing because of that settlement, and this gang.

They kidnapped vampires sometimes to give them to the werewolves to keep them from attacking the town, and although none ever returned, they had kept their word and stayed to themselves and their forest. Although the gang's involvement sometimes aided the safety of the town as a whole, they couldn't allow those kidnappings to continue, so naturally run ins with this gang was common.

Sirius opened the door of the car and took the gentle white hand of a 4 year old vampire girl who had puffy red tear filled eyes. He picked her up and set her in the back seat of his police car. "Hey it's ok." He said gently. "I'll take you home ok? You're safe now."

The girl nodded and wiped her face with her pajama sleeve and he began heading to a small neighborhood outside of the part of town most humans lived.

There was a more poor side of town that mostly housed vampires that had lost their husbands or fathers and struggled now to pay for rent. It was an unfortunate burden on them that the werewolves and gangs wouldn't leave them alone. The humans also segregated away from them most of the time when they were low on money because they couldn't go into the forest to hunt for animals because of the werewolves and they couldn't afford blood bags and had to rely on human blood from sketchy sources.

Some brave ones went into the woods to hunt, but they often didn't return and this only made it worse on the families.

He pulled into the girl's driveway, she lived in a trailer with her mom and two brothers. The address was given to Sirius by a dispatcher after the hospital identified the boy who had been hit by the SUV. He had spent a long time in surgery, but he had made it.

Sirius informed her of the update from the hospital concerning her son, and she hugged her baby girl because at least one of her kids was brought back safe, and the other would be home soon.

She didn't have a way to the hospital, so Sirius offered her a ride. "Thank you so so much she said and went back into the house to get her other son. He was about 1, so she had put him to bed already. The son in the hospital was 26, so he was significantly older, but for a vampire, that wasn't uncommon.

He brought them to the emergency room entrance and then pulled away once she got out of the car.

The rest of the shift went by rather quickly. He was only asked to be out until 7am.

When he got home again, he took the blood bag out of the car and returned it to the fridge. He really wasn't hungry, he just needed sleep.

The nightmares had caused him to have bags under his eyes and even worse, small bruises persisted on his arms even though he healed from everything else.

He rubbed one carefully as if it would wipe off of him, and it was so painful.

He felt like something was causing this. And it had to do with the forest nearby. Something was constantly drawing him to it for the past couple of days and he couldn't figure out why.
