The God of calamity’s wife book 2: return of the 13th

Chapter 6: 6- kill thief- violence

Saoirse grabbed a plate of food and sat down at a table by herself.

The other werewolves sat in groups and she scanned her surroundings to see if she could find her place amongst them.

A few of them had looked her way, but she didn't recognize anyone and even if they knew her, none seemed to.

She began eating the food on her plate. She could smell it and recognized something familiar, maybe as a small child she had had this food before. Right! It was carrots. Then potatoes, broccoli, and a meat pie. It had mushrooms in it. The food made her feel close to someone she loved. She smiled and ate it. Perhaps she had rejected vegetables before, but now she felt that whoever she had a recollection of fighting on that, she may have lost them when she died, so the nostalgia made the food taste quite good.

It seemed like this kind of food hadn't been consumed by her for a long time.

She got up and followed her nose towards another smell that she knew. She walked up to a woman who was eating and smelled the food on her plate.

"What is that?" She asked, once again feeling the warm feeling.

"Umm….its deer meat." The woman said moving her plate away from Saoirse's nose.

"Deer meat" She exclaimed. "I think I love deer meat!"

A few people were glancing up from their conversations at her and chuckled.

With her exceptional sense of hearing, she heard their snickers and realized she was standing on the table with her ears out and her tail wagging.

She got back down from the table and thanked the lady. She went back to her plate and began to eat again.

After eating, her group began to file out of the door and to the grassy field that was outside. She felt the sun on her skin and it was warm. This felt like a feeling she hadn't had in a long time.

Her hair stood up a bit and she felt little pricks of excitement like it was a forbidden thing in the past to enjoy.

She twirled around with joy, arms outstretched and felt the warmth a bit longer.

"Miss Saoirse!" A lady exclaimed and she realized that everyone was standing in a predesignated spot and all of them were at attention except her. She got shy and apologized to the lady.

"General Ashclaw has asked us to practice our endurance and agility, so I have this vampire here, and the aim is to catch him. As new recruits, I know you are young, but many of your parents were claimed by the war and we will have to fight against our own family sometimes. I want you to keep in mind that although this is an innocent man who simply got lost in the forest- And he is scared, someday you may have to face your very own mother, or father, spouse, or even child. Once they are a vampire, they are on Alastor's side and therefore we must wipe them out!

We do not hold back ever!"

Many of the soldiers around the perimeter howled loudly and excitedly and the man shivered in fear. Smoke came off of his body and Soairse noticed that the sunlight was hurting him, but he was too scared to cry.

The general let go of the man and he fled into the forest to take cover. Everyone watched him go wondering if they should go after him.

"Anyone who kills him will get a point towards advancing to the next position in the military., now go!"

All around her, people began changing into wolves and ran after the man into the forest.

She entered the trees and began sniffing, the scent of the man was very light. It was hard to pick up amongst the smells of all of the bodies of werewolves all around her.

She passed a tree and a familiar smell crossed her nose. It didn't smell exactly the same as her sweater from earlier, but she realized it wasn't the smell of a wolf.

Was the person she had lost a vampire?

Maybe the person she lost had killed her? She was covered in scratches and blood from the looks of her clothing when the man in black and green had found her.

She was dead when he found her.

Was her companion perhaps a vampire now, and did that mean she would one day have to fight them?

She shuddered to think of that.

The smell of the man wafted down from a tree above her.

She looked up at him and he clung for dear life.

"He's mine!" A wolf suddenly exclaimed and shoved her out of the way as he began clawing his way up the tree. His strong body slightly human, but still furry to make climbing easier.

The man saw him coming and screamed in terror. He had nowhere to go, so he jumped at the wolf man with his fangs suddenly shooting acid blood from his mouth. His eyes looked evil and the acid hit the wolf man right in the eyes. He let out a shriek and fell out of the tree from 80 feet up. He landed with a thud on the ground and was dead.

All of the wolves nearby saw him fall and growled angrily at him and began climbing the tree as well. It was 20'wolves against his one man.

His acid spit shot from his fangs at each of them and he defended himself from afar, many of them getting hit in the eyes as well and falling.

"You won't get away from us!" A werewolf said from behind him, the man hadn't noticed him creep up behind him until he had grasped him by the neck in his large hand and the claws sank deep into his neck. The man writhed around trying to escape. He let out bat like wings and a demons' forked tail and flapped, trying to escape.

"I have caught the demon!" The wolf man said excitedly. The man writhed a bit more and then stopped. He had passed out and the man threw him out of the tree to his death.

All of the other wolves were either too far away or in the tree, so he was certain that the man would hit the ground like his fellow comrad had and no one else could steal his kill.

At the last minute the man opened his eyes and to stop his fall, he spread his wings.

Saoirse saw him do this and tried to stop him from escaping. Using her natural hunting instincts, she jumped on him from behind. Hiwever, he hadn't actually caught himself, so he hit the ground with full force as well as Saoirse's wolf body weight.

The kill had been an accident but he was now dead. Saoirse's stomach churned.

Cheers echoed around her from everyone who had seen her do this, all except the ones in the tree closest to the top. They had all been with the wolf that threw him and he shouted "kill thief! She stole my kill!"
