The Grim Fate of Those Who Arouse the Wrath of the Most Dreaded Marquis

Chapter 49

Episode 49: Stepping on the Tiger’s Tail (Part 4)

Demitul and his group couldn’t immediately respond to Lord Giorg’s threatening tone.

“Just hand it over!! This is the Crown Prince’s order!!”

However, Kyle, one of Demitul’s attendants, immediately twisted his face into a sneer and arrogantly spat out at Lord Giorg.

It was an incredibly foolish act. It was clear that Lord Giorg’s attitude wasn’t directed at the Crown Prince, but Kyle didn’t seem to realize that.

In fact, Aisha, Roy, and Cain were all trembling from the overwhelming murderous aura emanating from Lord Giorg.

But Demitul and his group mistook that trembling for their own anger and seemed to get even more carried away.

“Hurry up!! You injured the Crown Prince!!”

“That’s right!! We were even going to make her a pleasure servant, but that wench didn’t show gratitude—she resisted!!”

“How do you plan to make up for this disrespect?!”

The three of them hurled insults at Lord Giorg.

“I see.”

Lord Giorg quietly stood up.

Demitul assumed that Lord Giorg was about to apologize.

But that wasn’t the case.

Lord Giorg leaped silently onto the desk in the office room. In the next moment, he lunged toward Demitul.

His movements were so soundless and smooth that no one could react in time.

Landing beside Demitul, Lord Giorg spun around and delivered a backhanded blow to Demitul’s face.

A sickening crunch echoed through the room.

Lord Giorg grabbed Demitul by the collar and slammed him against the wall.

“Huh… what?”

A second after being pinned to the wall, Demitul still didn’t seem to understand what had just happened to him.

“Kill them.”

Lord Giorg spoke quietly. The moment the command was given, Roy, Aisha, and Cain sprang into action.

Roy moved behind Kyle, covering his mouth with one hand while driving a knife into his abdomen with the other.

Kyle’s face twisted in shock and pain. He might have finally realized what was happening to him. Roy kept the knife embedded in Kyle’s stomach, grabbed his arm, and twisted him into an armlock before slamming his face into the floor.

“Ah… gah…”

Pinned to the floor, the knife in his stomach was pressed deeper, causing Kyle excruciating pain.

Aisha jabbed her fingers into Zail’s eyes, hooked them into his eye sockets, and used that grip to swing him around before tripping him and throwing him to the ground. She then plunged her knife into his chest. The blade slipped between his ribs and pierced his lung.

“Gah!”

Aisha twisted the knife with a grimace, delivering the final blow. Zail reached out weakly, but his strength quickly faded, and he stopped moving.

“Idiots…”

Cain muttered under his breath to Roy and Aisha before grabbing Deris by the collar and shoving him out of the office, pinning him against the wall.

Cain already had a knife in hand and stabbed Deris in the chest. Without stopping, he slashed Deris’s throat and, as if to ensure the kill, drove the knife into his eye.

Deris convulsed a few times, as if squeezing out the last of his life force. Once he stopped moving, Cain pulled out the knife, and Deris collapsed to the ground.

After finishing off Deris, Cain returned to the office and glanced at Roy and Aisha.

“Honestly, you two got too carried away and dirtied His Lordship’s office.”

Roy and Aisha looked embarrassed at Cain’s scolding. They had let their emotions take over and ended up making a mess of Lord Giorg’s office.

“It’s fine. No need to feel ashamed over something so trivial. But I appreciate Cain’s concern.”

Lord Giorg spoke while still pinning Demitul to the wall.

At Lord Giorg’s words, the three of them bowed their heads in humility.

“Now then, Azein.”

“Y-Yes!!”

“These three aren’t from Zabeil, are they?”

“N-No, they are not from Zabeil!”

“Good. That’s a relief.”

Azein nodded at Lord Giorg’s words.

(So Duke Zarfing doesn’t want to clash with Zabeil. Thinking about it, that makes sense. If things escalated with Zabeil, it would be a failure for Duke Zarfing.)

Azein interpreted Lord Giorg’s words in this way. If Galvate’s policy was to build friendly relations with the Zabeil Kingdom, then killing Zabeil’s vassals would be a significant liability. Azein thought this could be used to negotiate favorable terms.

“If these three were Zabeil’s vassals, I would have had to severely reprimand King Jilvol.”

However, Lord Giorg’s next words made Azein realize he had made a grave mistake. Lord Giorg was declaring that protecting his own vassals took precedence over maintaining friendship with Zabeil.

“Duke Zarfing…”

“You’re lucky. It seems I won’t have to start disliking Zabeil after all.”

“Y-Yes, it’s fortunate indeed.”

Azein forced out the words while breaking out in a cold sweat.

“Aisha, I’m sorry. I put you through a tough ordeal.”

Lord Giorg’s voice as he comforted Aisha was gentle, with a slightly sweet undertone.

“N-No, it was my fault for letting my disgust get the better of me and punching Demitul. I almost ruined Lord Giorg’s plans.”

Aisha thought Lord Giorg’s words were meant to shield her. Her expression was stiff.

“Well, Lord Giorg said it’s fine, so it’s okay, right? Besides, didn’t Lord Giorg say earlier that if these scum laid a hand on the maids, they’d be dealt with on the spot? It’s not just to cover for you.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, it’s true. The fact that Azein was called here beforehand is proof enough. The decision was already made.”

“I see…”

Hearing Roy’s words, Aisha looked slightly disappointed. While she was happy that Lord Giorg had shielded her, she thought it might not have been out of genuine concern.

(Hmm… maybe I’ll tell her about it later.)

Roy, seeing Aisha’s expression, decided to tell her about his earlier conversation with Lord Giorg. He was sure it would cheer her up.

“Azein, you’re lucky.”

“Huh?”

“If you had been with these guys, you would’ve been taken care of along with them.”

“Eek!!”

Lord Giorg’s words held no deceit. Azein realized that if he had been present during the attempted assault on Aisha, he would have been killed alongside the others. The thought that his survival was merely due to luck sent a chill down his spine.

“D-Duke Zarf… you… how dare you…”

Demitul finally found his voice.

THUD!!

Lord Giorg’s response to Demitul’s words was a punch.

“Shut up. Speak without permission again, and I’ll kill you.”

Demitul nodded with a terrified expression at Lord Giorg’s words.
