Chapter 288 – The Sapphire Jewel
Kandis, the Sapphire Jewel, was everything Arenade hoped it would be. The beautiful port city was teeming with history and culture. Kanae suspected her new wife had probably wanted to come here all this time as a demigoddess. Only when she became mortal did that opportunity finally present itself.
They had dropped their stuff off at an upscale inn called Coral. The place was built with white sandstone, probably carved out from a quarry elsewhere. Like the other buildings in the city, its architecture had many windows and archways, and few walls were straight for too long. They were often curved and circular. The rooftops were the same, very few angles and more rounded instead.
The same was true for the large suite that Arenade had booked for them. In the bedroom, the bed was situated at the center of the room upon a large rug woven in intricate patterns. Other furniture like counters, tables, and standing closets were arranged along the curved wall of the room. Their bathroom was an oval chamber with water pouring into a pool. Finally, a balcony gave them a view of the inlet and port.
"Oh, yeah… That's the spot… mmm…" Arenade moaned as a centaur masseuse kneaded his hands into her back.
Kanae was getting restless. The sounds she was making were turning her on. But Arenade promised some honeymoon sex later at night, so Kanae had to rein in her horniness.
As soon as they arrived at Coral, the innkeeper told them all the amenities that the establishment offered. Massages being one of many. To no surprise, Arenade demanded two of their best masseuses to their room. Now, she and Kanae were lying on a cot each as centaurs massaged them.
It felt good having all the knots and tension worked out, especially since Kanae had gone through the trouble of fighting a war. However, she had other ideas of relieving stress. When the centaur man came around to squeeze Kanae's shoulders, her eyes were drawn to the spot underneath him and between his hind legs. Although it was currently hidden in its sheath, she could really use some dick right now.
Kanae startled the centaur masseuse by grabbing his hand. She used her own hands to form a circle and repeatedly thrusted into it with her index finger, then thumbed behind herself. He immediately knew what she wanted and gulped hard. She glanced over to Arenade, whose head was turned away from them.
Just for a little while…
"So, what do you think this Vizier Duran wants?" Arenade asked suddenly.
"Huh? Oh, uhh… I'm not sure. You have any idea?" Kanae returned as the centaur lowered the cot a little and grabbed two handfuls of her cheeks and parted them.
The other centaur had taken notice and tried to continue massaging Arenade while ignoring them. His coworker, however, laid a thick cock between Kanae's cheeks and rubbed the entrance. This was the massage she was looking for.
"Well, those harpy girls said it was just his way of welcoming us. You know I'm not one to turn down a wealthy dinner! But having been who I was, important people don't meet just to eat dinner. Whatever he wants, it better not involve anything other than us enjoying this vacation," Arenade huffed.
"Ah!" Kanae choked down a moan when the flare of the centaur's cock plunged into her pussy, and the rest of the shaft slid right in.
It was so thick and hard. The cot they were on was low enough that a centaur could do this, too. Slowly, he pushed in and out of Kanae, and she savored the length of each stroke.
"Heh. What's wrong, Kanae? Figured a massage would do you some good. After fighting monsters like Petyr and Roshasha, you can't take a centaur?" Arenade asked.
"Oh… I'm taking it… alright…" Kanae's eyes rolled back.
The centaur picked up speed, but he was careful not to make too much noise. Thank goodness this race of beastmen had big dicks, and Bardell was just an insecure fluke.
"Hey, what's going on over there?" Arenade turned her head and gasped. "Kanae, you dirty slut! Both of you, out now. The massage is over!"
Before Kanae had a chance to protest, the spooked centaur pulled right out and brought her to climax. He drenched her back with his load, and the two of them galloped from the room.
"Nngh… Wait… Arenade, I can explain…" Kanae, still shuddering from her orgasm, tried to reason with the angry elf.
"You're not explaining yourself out of this one! Holy Armament: Mace!" Arenade conjured a golden instrument of punishment into her hands.
By the end of it, Kanae had not only been pummeled by a centaur dick, but also by Arenade, who left behind a flanged mace-shaped bruise on her ass. Now, she was on her knees and groveling in apology.
"I swear to the Supreme One, you really just can't control yourself! If you keep this up, the only thing I'm putting out is you on the couch tonight!" Arenade warned.
"I'm sorry already! It won't happen again, I promise." Kanae swore from the bottom of her heart.
"Hmph. Then make it up to me by going for a walk. I want to see what Kandis has to offer," she said, extending a hand down to her and blushing.
Kanae sighed in relief and grabbed Arenade's hand. After washing off the centaur spunk, the two of them set into the city together. All along the streets, swaying palm trees towered over them. The crisp ocean breeze filled their nose. A gentle wind tugged against their hair and clothes.
The first place they went was a clothing store. Their clothes didn't exactly match Kandis, and they wanted to fit right into the aesthetics. Since the culture in the city was predominantly Saviran, many were dressed in loose-fitting robes like the harpies who had welcomed them. The two purchased matching light blue robes with headscarves to shield them from the beaming sun. Gold trims sported snaking patterns of thorny vines.
Kandis' people were very terse and to the point, a stark difference from citizens in the north. There was no bartering or beating around the bush; one either purchased their named price or didn't. They even had an adventurers hall in the city, mostly to take quests in fending off monsters in the sea or from the mainland. The call to adventure was strong. Kanae wanted to go inside and check it out, but Arenade probably wouldn't like that.
They descended to the pier, at the end of which was the looming lighthouse. The walkway there was full of artists with their paint brushes against a canvas. Tourists from the mainland, distinguishable by their mode of dress, sat on chairs to have their portraits painted. One artist in particular wielded magic in his hands instead of brushes, and his canvases were sandstone blocks. The sculptor was a lamia man covered in sand and dust from his own work.
"Let's get a sculptor done!" Arenade exclaimed, practically bouncing up and down.
"Isn't that going to take forever?" Kanae asked.
"Not with my talents it wont," the lamia sculptor overheard them and said. "I sculpt by controlling the earth. Takes nothing but a few minutes of your time, if you're interested! This runs you for 1,000 gold per sculpture. Delivery expenses cost extra," he said.
They could probably get Renya to transport it back home for free. The Songstress was still docked, and Kanae was able to see it from up here.
"In that case, sure!" Kanae paid the man and got into place with Arenade. She wanted to link arms, but her wife had other plans. Arenade posed in a stoic manner, only to accidentally elbow Kanae in the ribs.
"Hey, ow! When you say 'let's' what you really meant was just you, right?" Kanae groaned.
"Look, every statue we have back home depicts us in those slutty Eminence vestments. I want something more heroic and cool. How about you get into the kneeling position in front of me, like you're praying?" she suggested.
"That sounds stupid!"
"You're stupid!"
"Can you two pick a pose already? I'm about to begin whether you like it or not!" the sculptor complained.
They started fighting each other for space. Kanae pulled Arenade's cheeks. Arenade grabbed Kanae's horn in one hand and pushed her chest with the other. Neither of them were willing to give an inch. It wasn't until the sculptor shouted, "Done!" that both of them snapped in his direction.
"What do you mean done?!" Kanae and Arenade exclaimed.
Before them was a statue, capturing the two in the middle of throwing hands. Their shock only lasted for a few moments. They let go of each other and doubled over in laughter.
"There won't be any do-overs. You get what you get," the sculpt said.
"Don't worry. We'll take it," Kanae assured him, wiping a tear from her eye.
"Pfft… Where do you think we should put this? I think you should set it up at your hall…" Arenade's giggles wouldn't stop.
"It's not going to survive there with all the fighting that goes on, and I kind of want to keep it intact. Let's just have Renya's crew stow it in the Songstress for now," she suggested.
They flew down to pester the skeleton crew still on the ship to transport the statue into the cargo hold. The sailors were more than happy to lend a hand, sending a heavy-duty cart to go fetch it. As for the newlyweds, the two left it in capable hands of Renya's crew and returned to sight-seeing the city.
Kanae and Arenade had very different ideas of fun. They bickered over where to go next, what to eat, and which souvenirs their children liked best. It was like nothing had changed between them despite being married.
In order to remedy this problem and prevent a divorce so soon after marriage, the pair agreed on taking turns to make decisions. Arenade dragged Kanae along to visit Kandis' rum distillery. Afterwards, Kanae dragged Arenade to a harpy strip club. Arenade bought some foreign textiles of Saviran design, and Kanae purchased new sex toys from a Sexy Slime Goods store which she had zero idea had expanded to Kandis.
"I feel like we're here for very different things, buster." Arenade glared at the monster dildo likely belonging to a creature native to Savir.
"I-I just want to be prepared for the eventuality of encountering a monster with this! You'll never know, right?" Kanae tried explaining herself and succeeded only in digging a bigger hole.
"Uh huh. You just better keep that to yourself. If it comes anywhere near me—"
A group of five hooded harpies spilled out of the building ahead of them. They were carrying large, bulging sacks hugged to their chests. Gold coins rolled past their talons, and scattered paper notes drifted out the door behind them. Kanae and Arenade were taken aback, exchanging glances at the flock.
"Thieves! Stop them!" someone from inside cried.
Without another word, the harpies launched up and flew south. Kanae turned to Arenade, searching her eyes for permission.
"Ugh. Fine. I guess just because on our honeymoon doesn't mean we can't do some good. You, dark elf! Hold our bags!" Arenade shoved their belongings into a man's arms.
Together, they soared into the sky to give chase. The harpies saw and fired missiles of arcane bolts at them.
"Get back here with that money!" Kanae shouted and flourished Lust.
"You're all going to regret stealing today! I'm on vacation, damn it!" Arenade roared, flying ahead with her signature Holy Armament: Big Fucking Hammer.
"Both of you bitches are nuts!" a harpy screamed.
Arenade was a lot faster. Maybe it was because she wanted to get back to vacationing sooner. The priest caught up to them in no time, and bonked them out of the skies one after another.
"Arenade, the gold!" Kanae cried.
All of the bags that the harpies had been carrying spilled out, showering Kandis with gold coins and paper notes. The citizens below threw themselves to the streets to collect as much as they could.
"Ehm… Oops." Arenade hid the comically large hammer behind her back.
They descended with the unconscious harpies in their arms. Guards had poured in to take control of the streets and prevent anyone else from looting the money, but the damage was done. A lot of it was strewn across the city and likely in someone's pockets already.
"What happened?!" a canine beastman guard asked, racing up to them.
"We, uhh… We caught the thieves…" Kanae dropped three of the five the harpies, and Arenade dropped the other two and tried to slink off until she tripped.
The guards apprehended all of them, Kanae and Arenade included. They were cuffed and thrown into the same pile as the harpy thieves in the middle of the street, currently cordoned off by a squad of Kandis guards. Not wanting to make any trouble, the two of them acquiesced to their questioning. That didn't stop Arenade from being outspokenly mad about it.
"I'm telling you, we were just trying to help! At least the gold is still in the city. If it wasn't for us, those harpies would have made off with a small fortune!" Arenade yelled, throwing a tantrum at the two exhausted guards questioning her.
"Can you at least talk to the banker? He was there when it happened. If… If it's that much of a problem, we're the Queens of the Commonwealth. We can just reimburse what was lost," Kanae offered.
"We don't care if you're the Demon Lord of Artaggon. This is Savir territory. Neither of you are leaving until we get to the bottom of this," the head guard snarled.
Kanae was feeling guilty. Another country's problem shouldn't have been their problem. They were on their honeymoon, and if she decided against helping, neither of them would be in shackles. Hell, if it got any worse, this might cause an international issue between the Commonwealth and Savir.
They were about to submit the misunderstanding until commotion erupted from the north road. People parted away quickly. Guards straightened their backs and stood aside. Kanae and Arenade gulped hard.
"What's going on here? Free those two this instant!" a deep and gruff voice demanded.
A company of four harpy women— two of whom they had met yesterday— emerged from the crowds and pushed through the line of guards. Whoever had spoken, it certainly didn't come from them. But the head guard did turn white as a ghost.
"V-Vizier Duran, what brings you out here? This pair is part of the gang who made off with the gold. We have this under control and will get everything cleared up soon!" he exclaimed.
Kanae and Arenade exchanged confused glances. It didn't make sense until one of the harpies kneeled down. A beastman of very small stature— about as short as a goblin— dropped off her back and stormed up to the guard. A coat of fine tan fur stretched carpeted his entire body. His fuzzy ears were about as large as his head, and they were adorned with numerous pieces of jewelry that weighed them down. The same was true for his arms, cuffed with gold and silver links, bracelets, and jewels. Two black beady eyes glared up at the one who had spoken back to him. He appeared to belong to the fennec race of beastmen, tiny foxes that live in deserts.
"You are in the presence of their majesties, Queen Kanae and Queen Arenade of the Commonwealth of Sin. They are MY guests, so tell me: do you suspect my guests are thieves and intend to imprison them, Captain?" Vizier Duran asked threateningly.
"No, Vizier! You there, guards. Free the queens immediately!" the guard-captain ordered.
They did so right away. As soon as the shackles fell away, Kanae and Arenade stood up to dust themselves off. The guards threw the harpy thieves into a cage-wagon and hurried off.
"You're a life-saver… Thanks." Kanae sighed.
Vizier Duran trotted up to them and bowed low. "I had intended to meet with you two tomorrow night, not today. I'm terribly sorry! I know you wouldn't have anything to do with the thieves, and my personal aides have already spoken with the banker. You have my sincerest apologies!"
Kanae had to keep a lid on, because she was having a hard time not laughing at such a small man with such a deep voice.
"You better be sorry! Who lets a queen be treated this way? I'm appalled!" Arenade exclaimed furiously.
"Alright, you. Settle down." Kanae put a hand over her wife's mouth. "We're sorry, too. We didn't mean to knock all the gold away. It just happened when we tried to stop the thieves."
"Ah, you needn't worry. It is certainly tragic for the bank, but their coffers will bounce back in no time, I'm sure. Anyway, I sincerely hope this does not sour your vacation. It would reflect poorly on me as the city's vizier. Tomorrow night, I shall throw the most lavish banquet to welcome the lovely queens to make up for today's mistake." Vizier Duran bowed again and returned to his harpy groupies' side.
The same one picked him up onto her back, and they flew back to the Cerulean Palace together. It didn't take long before the streets returned to normal, like nothing had taken place. People and carriages briskly passed by them. Guards continued to pick up the dropped gold.
"What do you think of Vizier Duran?" Kanae asked.
"Hm. The pipsqueak rubbed me the same way Ortesians do, but at least he sounded genuine about the apology. I want to say he's hiding something by being so nice…" Arenade trailed off and fell into thought.
"But?"
"But the people we've met so far here are all so blunt. I don't know. Maybe it's just my imagination. Enough about him though. Let's get our stuff back and get some grub. I'm starving!" She grabbed Kanae by the hand and pulled her along.
They picked their belongings back from the troubled but mildly thankful banker, then apologized for not being able to bring the gold back. From the way he tried to brush it off as an inconvenience, Vizier Duran must have settled some things.
It was starting to get dark. Arenade picked a seafood restaurant closer to the docks, and they dined on the rooftop. Kanae introduced her stomach to fish creatures she had never seen before, some of which didn't look edible. Despite that, it was all so delicious. The rum Arenade had purchased beforehand fit well with the marine-themed cuisine, too.
Kanae shucked a whole lot of oysters in preparation for tonight. They were also incredibly tasty. By the time they returned home after a long day out in Kandis, Arenade threw herself face first into bed and looked exhausted.
"Tired already? It's still early in the evening," Kanae said, lying down next to Arenade and stroking her back.
"I'm going to take a quick dip before bed!" Arenade snapped upright and went to the bathroom. "Don't you dare come in, or it's the couch for you!"
When the door slammed shut, Kanae sighed in disappointment. It seemed like she wasn't going to get lucky tonight. Well, that was okay. She enjoyed spending time with Arenade alone. Her high elven wife was a lot to handle, but she loved her nonetheless.
The bathroom door creaked open. Talk about quick. It had barely been a few minutes. Kanae thought to bathe, too, but gasped at the sight of Arenade under the doorway. She was dressed in lace lingerie. Her long golden hair, unbound by the red tie, draped down her curvaceous body. The bra was barely enough to contain her hefty breasts and light enough to expose her stiff nipples. Her underwear also had a split at the crotch, revealing a very wet slit. What really brought it all together was Arenade's bashful appearance, one arm to her breasts and the other with two fingers pinching the underwear.
"Hubba… hubba…" Kanae swallowed the lump in her throat.
"I… I wanted to give you a nice treat, so I asked Lilith for advice on what to wear. You deserve it. After all, you didn't just save me. You brought me back to life. So… guh… Supreme One, save me… So, you're welcome to have your way with me…" Arenade said.
Kanae got up and braced one hand behind Arenade's back and another cupped underneath her chin.
"This is a special night for both of us, not just me. I want you to enjoy it, too… but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy it as much as I can!" Kanae kissed Arenade deeply.
