Chapter 17: TEAM

Ye Qiu rushed Stacy to the hospital, his heart pounding with fear. The nurses quickly placed her on a stretcher, their movements swift and efficient, as they wheeled her toward the ER. He followed closely, calling her name with desperation etched into his voice. His usually calm and composed nuture was gone, replaced by sheer panic and helplessness.

"Stacy!" he shouted again, his voice cracking as he tried to keep up.

Her pale, motionless face only fueled his fear, but before he could take another step, two police officers appeared in his path. Their uniforms gleamed under the fluorescent lights of the hospital corridor, their faces stern and unreadable.

"Ye Qiu," one of them called, his voice firm but not unkind.

Ye Qiu barely spared them a glance, his eyes locked on Stacy as she disappeared behind the ER doors. His lips parted as though to protest, but the officers moved swiftly, grabbing his arms and snapping a pair of handcuffs onto his wrists.

He didn't resist. He didn't shout or struggle. His eyes stayed fixed on the direction Stacy had been taken, even as the officers began leading him away. Each step felt heavier, the distance between him and Stacy growing wider with every second.

Meanwhile, across the internet...

The story of Everstay and the Dragons was everywhere. News channels dissected the shocking event in real-time, their headlines plastered with bold letters:

"Dragon Team Logs Out During Critical Battle!"

Speculations ran wild. Social media erupted into chaos as fans, critics, and trolls weighed in on the incident.

Comment threads filled up with heated debates:

AvatarFan123: "I can't believe they logged out. This is the biggest betrayal in gaming history!"

SupportSomi: "I saw Somi run to save Everstay. She's such a team player. Honestly, I think the team will bounce back."

TrollMaster98: "LOL! Everstay is done for. No one will take the Dragon Leaders seriously after this."

Talk shows picked apart every detail, from the dramatic log-out to Everstay's mysterious real name. Theories about Stacy's involvement flooded the airwaves. Who was she? And what role did she play in Everstay's shocking retreat?

Elsewhere, in a cozy yet high-tech apartment...

The faint hum of electronics filled the room. The walls were adorned with vibrant posters of popular anime characters and gaming icons. The air smelled faintly of coffee and stale energy drinks, the typical aroma of sleepless nights.

In the middle of the room, surrounded by four monitors and a maze of tangled wires, sat a young woman. She wore an oversized baggy shirt that barely reached her mid-thigh, paired with a mini skirt. Her pink hair was a messy halo around her face, her doe-like eyes slightly puffy from lack of sleep. Her milky skin had a subtle glow, her cheeks and nose dusted with a natural blush.

This was Somi—23 years old, gamer and strategist.

Her slender fingers flew across the keyboard, the sound of rapid typing filling the air. A pair of headphones rested snugly over her head as she communicated with three other voices on the line: Omega, Sparrow, and Grayworm.

"Jesus Christ," Grayworm's voice crackled through the headset. "Do you realize we've hit the top five trending topics online? We're practically viral for all the wrong reasons! Where the hell is Everstay?" he asked

Omega chimed in. "Has anyone reached him yet?, somi?" he called

"Uhh... Why the emphasis on me?" Somi shot back, her voice sharp but tired. "Why not ask the others? You know he's a private guy, He doesn't share anything personal, talk More having his contact."

"yea, said by the only one, Who knows his name and we dont" Sparrow said.

"I—" Somi started, but Grayworm interrupted.

"And is oddly calm for a somi, Whose everstay is no where to be found" he mocked, yet there was hint of truth in it, "why do i have a feeling that you are up to something, maybe a plan you're not sharing with us for 'God knows why."

"what plan, Grayworm. This isn't a game you know," Somi replied, her tone defensive.

"Game or not," Grayworm pressed, "you' are still somi, and somi that i know would always worry about Everstay__or__Ye Qiu.

Anyway, what im saying is that, i believe you might have some information about him that might be helpful."

"I don't..." she tries to deny but Omega interrupts,

"C'mon somi, things are already getting messy out side, the least we could do, is try to figure out what is going on inside" he said as silence took over,

"somi?" Sparrow called.

Somi hesitated, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. The silence on the line grew heavy. Finally, she sighed.

"Fine," she admitted. "I only know his real name and email. That's it. Nothing that'll magically lead us to him. Yet."

"Yet?" Omega repeated, his tone cautious.

"I'm working on it," Somi said, her voice steely. "I'm trying to access any of his profiles to figure out where he might be."

"Wait, hold up," Grayworm said, his voice filled with suspicion. "Are you saying you're hacking him, like__youre a hacker?

"Not hacking," Somi corrected with a faint smirk. "Think of it as... advanced problem-solving, or you can just call me a computer experted."

"Sure," grayworm quipped. "speaking of obsessed."

"I'm not obsessed!" Somi snapped.

"Guys, C'omon" Omega interjected, his voice firm. "Focus. This is serious."

"hes right" said sparrow "our career might be at stake you know, remember we logged out"

The weight of his words silenced the group. The gravity of their decision to log out—something unheard of in Avatar Epic Quest—settled heavily over them.

"For now," Omega continued, "we need to find Everstay. Once we know what's going on with him, we can figure out how to salvage this mess."

"Agreed," Grayworm said reluctantly.

Suddenly, Somi's voice broke through the silence. "Done," she whispered, her eyes narrowing as she leaned closer to her screen.

"What did you find?" Sparrow asked, his tone urgent.

Somi's lips curved into a faint smile, her tired eyes gleaming with determination. "I think I found his location."
