The last days:Domination

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Crystal Hunt

He moved cautiously toward the noise, his hand gripping the weapon tightly. A low hiss reached his ears, followed by the sound of something skittering across the floor. Adam's muscles tensed as he rounded the corner, and what he saw made his blood run cold.
A mutated creature—tall, with sickly green skin and large, bulbous eyes—was crouched in the hallway, its mouth agape. Its limbs were longer than any normal creature's, and its claws scraped against the ground as it turned toward him.
It was a mutant—an abomination born from the infection. And it was hungry.
Before Adam could react, the creature lunged, its claws slashing through the air. Adam barely had time to sidestep, his enhanced agility allowing him to dodge the attack by a hair's breadth. The creature hissed in frustration, turning on him with a snarl.
He struck first, using his heightened strength to land a blow to the creature's side. The impact caused it to stagger back, but it quickly recovered, its claws slicing toward Adam once more. He could feel the heat of its breath on his skin as he dodged again, using his newfound reflexes to stay one step ahead.
But the creature wasn't the only threat. Adam could hear the sound of more movement behind him. The hospital was crawling with these things.
"Monica!" he shouted, his voice sharp. "Get ready!"
Monica appeared at his side, her eyes steely with determination. She had her weapon raised, ready to strike. Together, they formed a tight defense, but Adam knew this was only the beginning. The mutant in front of them was just a taste of what was to come.
They fought back-to-back, moving with precision, each strike a step toward survival. Adam's enhanced strength made him faster, more lethal, while Monica's quick thinking allowed them to keep their enemies at bay.
Finally, with a brutal strike, Adam slammed his weapon into the creature's skull, sending it crumpling to the floor in a heap of twitching limbs. But there was no time to celebrate. More were coming. And the higher-tier crystal cores were still out there, waiting to be claimed.
"Stay sharp," Adam muttered. "This is just the beginning."
