Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Body Tempering
My body is still too weak. Even though I easily killed that beast, I still suffered injuries from its claws" Lu Zheng muttered as he walked towards a pool of lava. "I wanted to wait till I could cultivate lightning path before I began tempering my body but since I'm here, why not?"
Lu Zheng undressed himself before jumping into the pool of lava.
Sizzle~
~Ah shit! This lava is goddamn hot! Fuck! What was I thinking!~
Lu Zheng gnashed his teeth as he endured the unbelievable amount of pain. His skin turned red as he guided the heat of the lava pool into his meridians.
The moment the heat poured into his meridians, his blood began to boil and churn. His short black hair turned scarlet and his black pupils turned red. The crimson Vermillion True Flame took ablaze on his body too.
"Grrr!" Lu Zheng grunted in pain as his body underwent the cruel process of being tempered. Soon however, his blood began to adjust to this level of heat and he was able to take in more heat into his meridians.
His meridians became even stronger as the impurities that he had accumulated from cultivation oozed out of his pores. The meridians also became wider to accept a larger amount of the lava pool's heat.
After a long time, all the heat present within the lava pool was absorbed by Lu Zheng and he walked out of it.
The regenerative abilities of the Vermillion Bird bloodline began to work and his charred skin returned to its normal jade-like colour. His skin even became smoother than before.
Lu Zheng did not stop and he entered another lava pool to continue tempering his body.
Plop~
The lava pool was incredibly hot as Lu Zheng's skin burnt again. Repeating the process, he drove the heat into his meridians and also his muscles.
"Haa!" Lu Zheng let out a shrill scream.
Refining the muscles was even more painful than refining the meridians. The amount of pain was on a whole new level.
The blood in his blood vessels radiated with a crimson glow as different runes appeared on them. The runes seemed to contain a profound meaning but Lu Zheng was unable to spare them a glance at the moment.
His concentration was focused completely on tempering his body.
It was only after a long while that the lava pool's heat was unable to aid Lu Zheng's tempering again and he got out.
"What are these runes?" Lu Zheng muttered to himself as he noticed the change in his blood.
Sitting down with his legs crossed, Lu Zheng immersed his psyche into his blood vessels to comprehend the change.
As he immersed himself in his bloodline, a reaction occurred with the external world.
Jets of lava shot up from the lava pools around him before swivelling around Lu Zheng in a certain manner. The dense fire Qi in the secret realm also began to concentrate on Lu Zheng, instantly clearing his mind.
Lu Zheng was able to even comprehend the profundities of his bloodline faster with the dense fire Qi around him.
Any beast that attempted to attack him would be burnt into nothingness before they even came close.
It was the power of the Vermillion Bird Race bloodline.
After what seemed like infinity, Lu Zheng opened his eyes and let out a mouthful of turbid breath.
His pupils which were as black as the bottomless abyss shined with myriads of thoughts.
"So it is like this…"
Lu Zheng had comprehended a little bit of what the runes in his blood meant during his cultivation.
He found out that the runes shared a strong connection with his bloodline and had a faint feeling that if he could master what those runes meant, he could control his bloodline better.
By the time Lu Zheng stood up, he was awed by the amount of change his body had undergone.
For starters, his height had increased greatly and his muscles were well toned. His hair was still a short black but it was silkier and richer than before.
Overall, his physique was no more that of a five year old boy but that of a thirteen year old.
"Father was right. Time truly flies here"
Lu Zheng wanted to immerse himself within the pools of lava around him but the intense growling his stomach made changed his mind.
He was incredibly hungry.
Lu Zheng gazed at a distant beast and began to approach it. He would kill it for food.
