Chapter 6 - Newlywed (Temporary) Life [2]
Our room, which belongs to both me and Renka, is located on the top floor. It has a 2LDK layout. [1]
Renge looked around the room and widened her eyes.
“It’s a very luxurious room.”
“Ah. I have to thank my father.”
As Renge said, our room was luxurious.
The living/dining room is large enough to fit a room in a typical apartment.
A large LCD TV is embedded in the wall of the living and dining room, and you can tell at a glance that the furniture that was provided in advance is simple but of high quality.
The kitchen was equipped with the latest appliances, and the bathtub in the bathroom was large enough for two people to fit in.
“The security is perfect, and it looks like we’ll be able to live a wonderful life together.”
“I don’t know if it’ll be nice or not.”
“Well, Hiddesugu-kun, you’re not very straightforward, are you?”
“It’s your true feelings, isn’t it?”
“Would you be able to open up a little more if we were naked together in the bath? It seems like there’s enough space for the both of us.”
“Please stop.”
“It’s a joke.”
“It’s definitely different.”
I dismissingly respond to Renge, who is grinning mischievously like a child.
Don’t even think about something ridiculous like taking a bath together. You seem much more refined at school.
Or perhaps it’s because you’re acting this way in front of me?
With such thoughts in mind, I immediately shook my head.
“Stupid, stupid. There’s no way Renge has romantic feelings for me. She’s probably just excited about moving into the new place,” I thought to myself.
With that conclusion in mind, I tried to calm Renge, who was still excited.
“Instead of talking nonsense, let’s quickly arrange for the moving company to bring our belongings to this room.”
“That’s right. I can’t bear to make you wait outside forever.”
Renge obediently nodded, and we headed to the moving company waiting outside.
Twenty minutes later, there were many cardboard boxes lined up in the living and dining area. Not just here, but a considerable number of boxes were also being brought into the private room that I and Renge would be using today.
“Okay. Shall we start unpacking?”
I said while rolling up my sleeves, and Renge nodded, “Yes.”
“Each person should open their own personal belongings, and work together to open shared items.”
“Before that, I have a proposal, is that okay?”
As I was about to start unpacking, Renge raised her hand and stopped me. I paused in the middle of opening a cardboard box and asked her what was going on.
“What?”
“Leave it to me to unpack the shared things.”
“Huh”
“Also, I would like you to leave the housework to me.”
When I heard Renge’s suggestion, I blinked.
“If you carry so much, it’s going to be difficult.”
“I’m fine. I’ve undergone proper bride training, after all.”
Renge made a “Mmm!” sound, flexing her biceps with a motivated look on her face, but it felt a bit too much to have her do all that.
As I furrowed my eyebrows, Renge seemed to sense that I was feeling embarrassed and smiled softly.
“This is a division of roles. Hidetsugu-kun has a job, right?”
“Certainly, there is, but…”
“That old saying, ‘Men work, women take care of the home’—it may be outdated, but considering the abilities of both men and women, it’s about putting the right person in the right place. I want to be that kind of wife. I want to support my husband, you, Hidetsugu-kun.”
With a determined look in her eyes, Renge made her declaration without a hint of hesitation, and I had no choice but to yield.
“…Do whatever you like.”
“Yes♪”
When I said it curtly, Renge smiled warmly.
What are you so happy about? Seriously, you’re quite a peculiar one.
