Chapter 0
A crime organization has been obliterated.
In just two years, a newborn organization had built up an incredible amount of power that was anything but insignificant.
Its might shook the city to its core.
With tremendous potential and rapid growth, other organizations and Solvers took notice.
This astonishing organization, dubbed the new star of the crime world, came to an abrupt end overnight.
“Ugh…!”
Buildings lay in shambles.
Dead subordinates littered the ground.
The organization’s Boss clutched his wounds and gasped for air.
He couldn’t understand what was happening, even as he witnessed this nightmare.
Just yesterday, they had fought and won against another organization, and just hours ago, they were toasting their victory.
But why!
With a cough mixed with blood, the injured Boss spat out, “What a terrifying creature.”
All those minions had been slaughtered by just one hand.
So easily and mercilessly that it looked like the Grim Reaper was harvesting lives.
Who on earth could it be?
Amid the shattered debris, someone was walking toward him.
Exuding an unsettling and ominous black aura.
Heavy footsteps echoed, and a chilling cold wrapped around his dying body.
The Boss gulped.
He could clearly make out the identity of the intruder through his blurred vision.
An intruder clad in massive armor and a helmet, wearing a skull mask.
Over two meters tall and massive in stature.
It was as horrifying as the demons described in scripture, a being that embodied death and fear descending upon this world.
Those were characteristics any city dweller would recognize.
He was a Grim Reaper, one of the “Four Great Organizations” at the peak of the crime world.
An organization comprised of just one individual, yet labeled a monster, the strongest.
The most dangerous being that everyone else sought to avoid.
“Ahahaha, you can’t help but fall short in the face of this. *Cough cough*… Tell me your last words. Why did you attack us? We didn’t invade your territory. But why… Ugh, *cough cough*!”
Nobody knows the Grim Reaper’s intentions.
Unlike other organizations, he doesn’t try to expand his power.
He appears and disappears randomly. The problem is, wherever the Grim Reaper shows up, disaster follows, causing immense chaos.
Why did such a being choose to target him?
At the very least, he wanted to know the reason before he died.
“Haah, haah…”
When he looked up at the two glowing blue eyes flickering like will-o’-the-wisps, the Boss’s breathing grew even more labored.
The overwhelming pressure was palpable.
Death stood before him.
Swish, swish.
The Grim Reaper began to write something on the floor with his sword.
[…C…A…]
“What?”
[Cake.]
The Boss momentarily thought he was seeing things. There was no way a being like that would write something so out of character.
[Cake.]
The Grim Reaper pointed to the letters he had written.
The Boss stared up at the Grim Reaper with a baffled expression.
[Because of you guys, I couldn’t eat the cake I wanted. This is retribution for that.]
“…”
The Boss’s mind went blank from shock.
Crack! His expression slowly stiffened like a malfunctioning machine.
He just obliterated the organization over that?!
What nonsense! He wanted to swear but couldn’t even part his lips.
He could do nothing but sit there in fear, unable to tear his pale gaze from the Grim Reaper.
After finishing, the Grim Reaper turned to leave.
The dying Boss, unable to hurl any resentment toward the Grim Reaper, breathed his last.
Thus, the rumor that the Grim Reaper had destroyed yet another organization spread quickly.
One of the same “Four Great Organizations” was left bewildered.
“That madman. What would happen if he just stayed quiet?”
The city’s mayor was in a frenzy.
“Quick! Hurry! Organize the documents and report to each department!”
Solvers trembled, caught between fear and curiosity.
“Is it true? Did the Grim Reaper really move again?”
“Just moving brings death, huh?”
The entire city was in an uproar.
◆
A filthy site scattered with broken debris, both large and small.
Amid it all stood one intact building, albeit cracked.
Inside the building, old and broken items that were little more than trash were neatly arranged.
And there was the Grim Reaper.
The armor, helmet, and mask he wore had dissipated into mist.
Revealed was a petite white-haired smiling girl, not even half the height of the Grim Reaper.
“Finally feeling relaxed. If you’re going to fight, just fight among yourselves. Why’d you have to mess with some poor cake shop and deny me a slice?”
That young girl, who looked like she should be chatting excitedly in a classroom, was the true form behind the Grim Reaper causing chaos in the world.
“Wouldn’t it be great if everyone just kept it cool and followed my lead?”
