The Ollivanders Secret

Chapter 6: 6. An old friend

— Clara POV —

„Because pain is an old friend", I started, pausing a bit before continuing: „I wore a suppressor ring for the first four years of my life. Through my multiple powers, talents, gifts, family magics or whatever this split my consciousness and probably even my soul, though we couldn't confirm that yet, into two or more parts, which let me tell you, is not in any way pleasant as I cried for the most part of the first year of my life, after that it was just always the same old pain. While it doesn't mean that I am unaffected by it, the moment it goes away, I can go back to the way I was before. The fusion of these split parts was also anything but painless, as these split parts grew up and developed/evolved apart from the main one, so they basically fused a way too large consciousness and/or soul into a way to underdeveloped vessel, which also means that since then I feel like my body is cracking slowly but surely. This also kinda forced and accelerated my personal growth and also my mental acuity. It basically means that I am currently a teenager stuck in a four year old body while my magical age is one as I was born on the 29th February, which in turn means I got the weird trifecta of being absolutely fucked on that front." After her unstoppable rant, she paused shortly breathed a few times before continuing: „This also means that my accidental magic is way more powerful than most others, for your reference, I disintegrated my libraries wall at home and destroyed Henrys training room until there was nothing left inside of the wards of that room, though it is already repaired or we could show you. And both those examples happened before or while the fusion, so it just got more dangerous. The past traumata are sadly also a problem, as I am very prone to panic and/or breakdowns as we saw yesterday, though it was the first one and I didn't realize how huge that problem really is. And well, the foci material didn't help that matter, as it was a new variable which was introduced into my very delicate current balance of all these factors."

„Well fuck", sighed Mad-Eye: „At least I bring the good news that the shopkeeper will not press charges as long as you pay for all the damages and a little bit extra, which should not be a problem for you. He also said that he won't disclose anything that had happened, though he didn't swear it, and the official version is, that an experiment went wrong. While the aurors do know about a little bit of this, they are bound by their oaths of secrecy to the auror department, which while not as safe as yours, should be more than enough to keep it out of the publics and newspapers eyes. I would also like to personally ask you to stay out of Diagon Alley for the next few months if not years, as there will still be people searching for answers."

After a short pause Mad-Eye also said: „On to more joyous news, he will not charge you for that pocket watch, as it is his honor that your magic accepted it as foci material. He only asked if you can maybe show him the finished product in the future. He also added, though a bit reluctant, that you can come to him for any repairs on the watch, though you still need to pay. Those shopkeepers are really built different …", He scoffed.

„On another note, how much do you know about me? I preach constant vigilance and also live by it, so I was very surprised by your sudden appearance a few minutes ago. How did you do that?" I pondered a few seconds over the questions, before answering: „While I don't know everything, I think it is an after effect of the suppressor, as I learned to consciously and unconsciously suppress my presence or aura if you will to various degrees. Another reason could be the way I walk, which I started practicing after I read in a book that a lady glides and doesn't stomp and my current style just feels right. It was also one of the few things I could practice without books or even while reading them, so I just did it until it fused into the very essence of my being to move like that. It is hard to describe how something like that feels, but I think it is reproducible, if you find your style/the style which suits you. I would also recommend to under no circumstance copy it from someone else, but you probably already learnt that rule of thump from Henry, as while he is a kinda bad protector, he is a very good teacher." „Hey!" shouted an indignant Henry, while Mad-Eye just chuckled and said: „That he is, that he is."

„Now before I get going, I wanted to ask if you have any idea about your next foci material, as I desperately want to stop the last incident to repeat itself." asked Mad-Eye, while getting up from his seat. „I do have and I am pretty sure it is just any none magical material, which will need to be strengthened and hardened and while being made into a sort of blank wardstone canvas. I also know that there is another magical material which I will need to find, most likely space themed to counteract the time theme of the clock. This is also why I think the third material will be a none magical material, though I will need to inform myself about the possibilities and talk about it with an accomplished ward master to find out what would be best to forge the balance between these other two foci material. I also know that the end result will probably be a staff, though it will look pretty different from yours. I also don't think that the theme of the staff has anything to do with my affinities and it probably won't turn into a time and space turner anytime soon." I answered that questions, without holding anything back, to which Mad-Eye replied: „Too much information, I will just go now before it gets any more weird. I also wish you luck with your search and also a good day to you two protectors of this fair maiden." And with that rare joke of his, he disappeared, more like fled, out our front door in a near run and apparated away not even a meter behind our wardline.

I just said: „Well, that went way better than planned. Can someone of you also get me the newest muggle and magical books on none magical materials, they should be pretty hard and strong already. I will go read a little bit and then go back to meditating for the near future." After that I left the two man with open mouths behind me, went into the library and started to read ‚Magical maturity and its positive and negative effects' by someone named Kred Bunke.
