The Power Of The Sin Of Wrath

Chapter 7: Loading

[July 16, 2042, 1 pm

After confirming that I have no desire for human flesh and should at no point turn into some vampire or werewolf-like being I decided to stay home.

At 10 am, the was a nationwide power outage and by 11 am the internet was completely shut down.

Staying in the dark unaware of what was going on around me put me on the edge and after listening to the radio and hearing cries and call for help coming from within the city, mentions of bigger portals popping up, I packed my bag, my destination set.

In addition to my innate hunger which was steadily rising another reason for me leaving was because I missed the thrill of combat.

400 pushups 500 squats, those were my feats this morning and when I collided with the sandbag all it took me was 4 hits to shatter it.

This strength within me I want to know it's limits and then I want to increase, I want to feel that unquenchable energy pulsing through my body once more and I think somewhere inside me I want to shed blood, see it flow out of a living thing.

Since I killed the first direhog, I have truly changed,]

Putting the last item into his bag, Rio threw it over his shoulder and grabbing his axe exited his house.

"I'm like one of those main character in apocalyptic movies, hopefully, their luck follows me and I don't die" Rio muttered to himself, chuckling as he got into his car and fired it up.

Before he drove into the street, Rio turned on his car radio, he listened to the life news of the chaos happening in the centre of the city and as he put his car in gear he couldn't help but wonder why the world power had allowed the radio keep functioning after shutting down the internet.

"Unless it is the power outage that has taken down the internet, but they should have backup generators."

Shaking his head off the worries that he could in no way affect Rio stepped on the gas pedestal, but the car had barely gone out of the driveway when the world seemed to go still and the next thing he knew, his car was blasted with a powerful wind which actually sent it skidded out off the paved path leading from my garage on to the lawn.

"What the fuck" Rio muttered as he looked to his right, staring out the window of his car at the white round portal which had appeared a house away from his position just above the main road and was rapidly expanding.

Narrowing his eyes, Rio stepped out of the car, and moved some steps closer, his axe in hand and a small subtle smile coming to his face.

The just-appeared portal swirled and swirled in the air, expanding as its white cloud-like edges released a white mist which spread into the surroundings, obscuring its image.

"I can feel my senses tingling"

Rather than be wary, Rio moved even closer to the portal not at all deterred by the white mist which was rapidly spreading and approaching him, filling the ground and making his foot nearly invisible to him.

Luckily before the white mist could climb higher and drown him in its blinding moist, the portal was done forming and within the white mist, a pair of red eyes appeared.

"Another Direhog" Rio wondered and as if reading his mind, the infamous system screen which he had been hearing about finally popped up before him.

[Level 2 Direhog]

Just like they said on the net, the screen was blue and on it was perfectly laced black writing.

After the notification on the Direhog popped up the screen went out and Rio not wanting to miss out on a chance was quick to react.

"System status" Rio said and this time his efforts paid off, though not in the way he had expected.
