The protagonist who hates losers is so sweet to me.

Chapter 4 - Zombie outbreak.

In a panic, Yu Qing quickly jumped off the stool to get dressed and find someone, but he found that all his clothes were adult-sized, which he couldn’t wear now that he had shrunk.
Fortunately, his pajamas had also shrunk proportionally, otherwise, he would have been running around naked. As the weather would get colder, pajamas alone wouldn’t suffice.
Luckily, the original owner had plenty of clothes. He picked a gold-edged tang shirt that wouldn’t trip him up and tied the pants around his waist as a belt, just in case he returned to his original height and had no pants to wear.
He wanted to take more things, but the clothes were already weighing him down. Reluctantly, he left the room full of supplies and set off.
Yesterday, to convince Song Xingqi and the others of their mental link, he had frequently used location sensing. He was now very adept at it, and perhaps due to the frequent use, it was less exhausting today than yesterday.
Fortunately, Song Xingqi wasn’t too far away, so he should be able to find him quickly. With the imminent zombie outbreak, every minute counted.
He moved the bathroom stool outside, climbed on it, and opened the door.
The cleaning lady in the corridor saw a delicate little boy running and warned him, “Little one, slow down, be careful not to fall.”
While running, he seriously warned her, “Auntie, run quickly, something very dangerous is about to happen here.”
The lady laughed at his serious face, “Alright, after I finish cleaning this floor, I’ll run.”
Yu Qing felt frustrated that he couldn’t make others believe him or prevent any disasters. All he could do was share what he knew with others.
A child of about five or six running alone on a busy street drew various looks from passersby. He ignored them, focusing solely on surviving, despite the embarrassment.
Having checked out of his room, Song Xingqi was ready to leave the city with his backpack when he suddenly heard an unusual running sound.
His heightened senses picked it up immediately. Turning around, he saw a little boy with a flushed face running straight toward him and clinging to his leg.
Lifting his leg to shake the child off, he found the boy clinging tightly. Disliking troublesome and fragile things, he picked up the boy and looked around for his parents but found no one.
The child kicked his legs and, with a hoarse yet childlike voice, said, “Song Xingqi, you have to take me with you.”
Finally looking at the boy, he recognized the unique and delicate face. With disdain, he shook the boy and said, “Is this your awakened ability? It’s as useless as you.”
With Song Xingqi’s reminder, Yu Qing realized that his shrinking might be due to an awakened ability. In the original story, the original owner was always an ordinary person, so he never expected to have an ability.
Ignoring his mockery, Yu Qing found the ability very convenient. If he could cling to someone to escape, it was perfect for him.
Feeling Song Xingqi might let go, he clung tighter and exclaimed, “I’m feverish! You must feel it too!”
Song Xingqi put him down, “It’s not that painful.”
He did feel a faint heat and dizziness since last night, assuming it was a minor fever. After taking some medicine, he hadn’t thought much of it. He realized now it was due to the mental link with Yu Qing.
Annoyed by Yu Qing’s reaction to a small wound he inflicted on himself, Song Xingqi wondered how this fragile person would survive the upcoming zombie outbreak.
Yu Qing knew he couldn’t keep arguing and needed to return to the hotel for his supplies. If zombies broke out, he wasn’t sure if he would protect him.
Determined, he pressed his body against Song Xingqi, crying out, “Daddy, don’t leave Qingqing alone!”
“Qingqing has no mommy and can’t be without daddy. Please, take me with you! I will be very good, please!”
“How pitiful,” murmured the onlookers.
Feeling the strange gazes, Song Xingqi’s face darkened, “Yu Qing, do you want to die?”
Crying even more sincerely, Yu Qing sobbed, “Daddy, don’t leave me. I can cook and clean and I won’t cost much.”
The original had feigned being abandoned by Song Xingqi in public, causing a scene that delayed him, allowing the original to survive the zombie outbreak.
Though his current appearance was unexpected, changing his identity didn’t matter. However, his future might be tough.
Feeling genuinely sad, Yu Qing’s performance moved the onlookers.
Further away, someone asked what was happening, and a bystander explained the pitiful sight.
A passerby couldn’t take it anymore and confronted Song Xingqi, “How can you abandon your child like this? Look at how he’s crying!”
Song Xingqi’s cold glare frightened the speaker, but with the crowd around, they felt emboldened. The onlookers, angered by his attitude, joined in.
“He’s even making the child wear adult clothes.”
“Look at those bruises on his neck! Is he abusing the child?”
“Call the police!”
“Don’t cry, daddy won’t leave you.”
Song Xingqi shouted, “Shut up!”
Suddenly, a mother with her child turned gray and bit the child. The child’s scream pierced the air.
The previously noisy street fell silent as the child stopped screaming and turned blue-black, then stood up stiffly, attacking the nearest person.
Instantly, the street turned into chaos as zombies attacked people, turning the scene into a nightmarish landscape of screams and cries.
Yu Qing stopped crying, clinging tightly to Song Xingqi like glue.
Caught off guard, Song Xingqi grabbed a large knife from his backpack, slicing at an approaching zombie.
Yu Qing closed his eyes as something cold splashed his face, smelling the stench of blood. Opening one eye, he saw a zombie’s gruesome face close to his.
Shaking his arm, Song Xingqi ordered, “Get off, you’re in the way.”
Yu Qing climbed up to his chest, clinging like a koala, “This way, I’m not in the way.”
With both hands free, he grabbed another knife and fought his way out of the city, carrying his heavy backpack and the child.
Having survived a zombie wave before, the initial outbreak wasn’t too difficult. As long as one was prepared, escaping wasn’t impossible.
Yu Qing held on tightly, listening to the horrifying sounds around him, feeling reassured by Song Xingqi’s strong heartbeat.
After a bumpy journey, his fever gradually subsided. Eventually, Song Xingqi stopped.
Raising his face from his chest, Yu Qing saw the moon overhead, trees on either side, and a wide road beneath them. They had left the city.
Throwing down his blood-stained knife with a metallic clink, Song Xingqi pulled Yu Qing off his chest, meeting his gaze with a mocking smile, “Good son?”
A chill ran down Yu Qing’s spine.
