"And if we refuse?" one elder spat, trembling before her.

Li Jue stepped forward, his aura suffocating. "Then you'll be nothing but a memory."

The elder hesitated, but before he could answer, Li Jue raised his hand, absorbing the man's energy with a cold efficiency. The remaining elders quickly submitted, swearing fealty to the False Immortal and the White Lotus Sect Master.

Later that evening, as they stood atop the ruins, Li Feng turned to Li Jue. "We're changing the world, but it's not enough. The heavens still watch us, waiting to strike."

"Let them watch," Li Jue said, pulling her close. "We'll make them kneel too."
