THE RUSSIAN MAFIA'S ANGEL

Chapter 24: JUDGEMENT

Trembling like a floating leaf, Sasha's knees touched the ground, her mind in chaos.

She searched her head, wondering what she had done to summon the wrath of the boss.

Nothing came up. She couldn't remember what she must have done.

Then her thoughts went to Luciana, and her chest squeezed tightly.

It had to be her. All that acting as if she didn't know what she had done for the boss to want her in his presence.

She must have badmouthed her, hence the anger she felt was about to consume her.

"Boss, what do you want me to do?" Ivar asked, loving that the smug look had disappeared out of Sasha's face.

"Tell the girls to look at me. I don't have all night," he said in a lazy voice.

The truth was that Ares didn't particularly enjoy being mean to women.

Sometimes, it was just a necessity he couldn't avoid.

"Like Nadia?" A voice in his head asked.

His breath caught against his chest, as he swiftly buried that voice in a special hell where it could never escape again.

"The boss wants you two to look at him," Ivar said, an amused smile dancing in his eyes.

Shakily, the two girls banded together, and lifted their heads at the same time.

Their eyes went everywhere but towards Ares, too afraid that if they so much as looked at him, they would be consumed by the fiery intensity of his gaze.

"Do you two know why you're here?" He continued in his lazy voice, that still managed to boom around the room because of the bass in it.

From a distance, the music playing drifted into his ears, telling him he still had one more mission before he called it a night.

"I—" Maria began shakily, but fell silent when she couldn't seem to put her words together.

"Don't waste my time, please," he said politely.

Sasha was scared to death, but there was something so soothing, and alluring about his voice.

Even in the face of danger, it made one crave death.

She understood why he was dangerous now.

He didn't need to do too much. The aura he exuded was enough to send anyone to the afterlife.

"I don't know, boss," she gathered enough courage to say.

"Me— Me t-oo," Maria stuttered.

Ares took a deep breath, getting bored of the situation already.

He could already see what this was. Two girls thought they were in their territory, and had to defend it by all means.

The new girl being a threat to them, they chose to attack.

Although, it didn't completely make sense to him.

Hades daughter wasn't exactly what one would describe as harmful, outside the fact she was clearly a spoiled brat.

"I'll go straight to the point so I don't waste both our time. Your attention is still needed in the kitchen, and dance floor respectively."

He brought out the gun he had hidden in his coat pocket, and dropped it on the table beside him.

On hearing the sound, the girls began to tremble all over again.

"You see this feeling you have now? The one where you're not exactly sure what is going to happen to you next. You're worried, afraid, and downright terrified of what I'm going to do. I need you two to remember it the next time you try to mess with my captive," he said.

He gestured for Ivar to continue, because he was completely done with them.

"What the boss means is that Angel is out of bounds. Whatever you do, don't ever get catty with her. If he hears of it again, you two won't be so lucky. Understood?"

They both nodded vigorously, their lives flashing before their eyes.

"Good. We're done here then."

They stayed still, as Ares rose to his full height.

Grabbing the gun again, he placed it back into his coat.

"Not yet," he spoke to it right after, but he had a feeling it would be soon.

If only he had darling with him. She gave him the kind of confidence none other could ever give.

"It's up to you to punish them whichever way you see fit," he said to Ivar as he walked past him, and out of the room.

As he stepped into the corridor, he sighted Xander coming his way.

"What do you want?" He asked first, when his second in command stopped in front of him.

"First of all, thanks to you, the princess wouldn't stop following me about. Staring at me like I'm some piece of candy."

Ares gave him a once over, and shrugged.

"You should be flattered. You don't look that great," he said in a flat voice.

Xander felt like he had just taken a punch to his gut.

He had not met anyone who said the meanest things with the straightest face.

A psychopath couldn't describe enough who the boss was. To think they were best friends surprised him even more.

"Anyway, I managed to escape from her long enough to see someone interesting."

"Who? There's always someone interesting on opening night," Ares said.

"Yeah, but I think you'd really want to see this one," Xander continued with a mischievous smile on his face.

"Fine, let's see this interesting person."

They returned to the club room, and discreetly, Xander pointed towards the direction of the person Ares needed to see.

He sighed inwardly when he saw the man, but outwardly, he remained composed.

It was the cop that had been investigating him for ages. He didn't know he knew he was a cop. He hoped to keep it that way.

Turning around, he walked up to the privacy of his section.

From that spot, he could see everything, whilst holding on to his anonymity.

The strippers were announced, and the crowd roared with life when the ladies fell from the ceiling with their wings, like fallen angels.

That was the name they went by, after all.

But Ares kept his gaze on the cop, following his every movement with his eyes.

"Guess who," he suddenly heard a familiar voice behind him, as his eyes were closed by small, delicate hands.

"You were not supposed to return tonight," he replied.

"Well surprise!" She giggled.

Crouching, she placed a kiss on his ears, and his breath quickened.
