Chapter 19: Lightning vs Storm
Reid and Mark arrive at Old Man Scrappy's home with John in tow. Rusty gently sets John down, still under the effects of [pause]. Scrappy, hearing the commotion, steps out with a grim expression.
"What's all this?" Scrappy asks, taking in the restrained and frozen John.
Mark quickly explains, showing the video evidence. Scrappy's face hardens as he realizes John was behind the beast siege that almost destroyed their settlement.
"What the hell is wrong with you John?," Scrappy says bitterly. "You've endangered your own family and everyone else here. Why?"
John, now released from [pause] but still restrained, smirks. "You wouldn't understand, old man. I am chosen by the Master. These steps are necessary to cleanse the world."
Scrappy shakes his head. "What have you become."
Suddenly, the ground begins to tremble.
"Evo, What's going on?" Reid asked
[Something's coming] Evo warns.
John starts laughing hysterically. "You've delayed the Master's will, but it can't be stopped! My death will be the catalyst for true judgment!"
The sky above the Scrapyard darkened, with the sun completely blocked.
A large magic circle appearing above them, emitting a pressure that forced all the Scrapyard residents to their knees.
"W-what is that?!" Reid struggled to speak due to the pressure.
[T-that's a beast summoning gate] Evo sounded panicked [Y-you have to stop home before he completes the summoning].
"We have to stop him!" Reid, sensing the alarm in her tone, shouted.
John grins. "You fools think you can stop the divine? With my sacrifice, I'll ensure its arrival!"
Before anyone can react, John activates a hidden implant in his body. A glowing sigil appears on his chest, and his body begins to burn with a bright.
This was John's last ditch effort in making sure his mission was completed, even if it meant death.
Reid quickly orders Rusty to [pause] him again, but it fails this time.
"How is he resisting it?" He asked, his panic evident in his voice
[The sigil on his body is somehow Interfering with the skill]Evo explains.
As John's body starts to disintegrate into energy, Reid makes a snap decision.
"Get back!" he suddenly shouted .
Reid leaps forward, summoning a new gadget from the scrap yard which he had recently fixed—a containment field.
He quickly managed deploy it around John just as sigil on his chest reaches critical mass.
Inside the field, John screams as his body is consumed, releasing a wave of energy that shakes the entire settlement.
When the dust settles, all that's left of John is ash, the faint remnants of the sigil burned into the ground and the beast that was almost out of the circle as a final f*ck you to them.
The beast looked like a eastern dragon. With shiny black scales. It let out a roar while looking below.
"W-We're f*cked" Reid couldn't help but curse. From the pressure being released, the beast's rank could not be any lower than gold-tier.
[That's Calamity, the platinum-tier storm dragon] Evo confirmed how f*cked they really were.
A primal at the platinum rank was capable of wiping out an entire country, much less a small makeshift town.
"I'll take care of it" Old man Scrappy's voice calmly rang out, pulling them from their despair.
The others were confused as to how he planned on matching the calamity with his silver-tier beast until he spoke again.
"Raio, you have my permission to remove the seal" He spoke and a bolt of lightning came crashing on the wolf, shocking everyone.
When the dust from the lightning cleared up, it revealed a new massive Raio with arcs of lightning passing through its eyes and its fur glowing blue.
Its aura wasn't inferior to the storm dragon who was curiously watching Raio's transformation. A decision that'll come back to bite it in a few minutes.
"What's going on?" Reid asked Evo.
[Apparently, the old man placed a seal on the Wolf, sealing its rank in silver-tier. Since the seal has been removed, it has returned to its normal rank which is Platinum tier] Evo explained.
"I see" Reid said. By now, Raio had negated the pressure being emitted on them so they could finally move.
"Reid, Mark get everyone to safety, preferably a bit farther from this fight, I'll take care of the big guy" Scrappy said.
Mark and Reid quickly moved to get the residents who were close to the impending fight as far as possible.
Seeing that the people were a safe distance away so he turned back to the dragon.
"Let's see what you can do, you bastard" Scrappy challenged.
Raio also roared in challenge, causing the dragon to roar back in anger.
The dragon swiped it claws from afar which seemed useless but Scrappy knew better. Raio yanked him away at light speed, leaving trails of lightning behind.
At Scrappy's previous location, a crater the shape of a claw was formed. The attack was an invisible one, aiming to split him into many pieces.
"Thanks Raio, but don't stay passive" he said to which Raio complied.
With a howl, target like runes appeared on the dragon and a moment later, large bolts of lightning descended on it.
Although its scales blocked most of the lightning attacks, the dragon still roared roared in pain.
It recovered quickly and let out its breath attack. An invisible wind shot from its mouth, destroying everything in its path and almost reaching Reid who was busy watching the display of power in awe.
To the dragon, Raio was like an annoying fly, constantly zipping around the battle field, making it harder to land an attack on.
The dragon watched the paths Raio took and suddenly went for a dive attack, confident in hitting Raio.
Raio, seeing that it's bait worked, suddenly increased its speed avoiding the dragon's attack causing it to crash into the ground.
Before the dragon could recover, Raio swiped its lightning charged claw at it. In retaliation, the dragon whipped its tail at Scrappy, causing Raio to retreat and protect him.
As soon as Raio got to Scrappy, both were hit by and invisible wind attack, which sent them crashing into one of the Scrapyard buildings.
"F*ck that hurts" Scrappy said, trying to recover from the attack.
The dragon prepared a follow up attack, the invisible claw, ready to cut the old man and his forged beast in half.
