Chapter 344: Father and Daughter

At this moment, five people, specifically one boy and four girls, walked quietly along the night road, and none of them spoke, creating a somewhat awkward atmosphere.

It couldn't be helped.

Although they wanted to speak to dispel this awkward atmosphere, they didn't know how to start or what topic to discuss, especially Miyako, who, because of Nayuta's words earlier, still felt embarrassed to even look at Homura.

"Shirakawa-san, sorry. I didn't expect Nayu to say something like that..."

Having had enough of this awkward atmosphere, Homura finally spoke, breaking the silence.

Upon hearing Homura speak, everyone felt relieved.

"Well... it's okay... I know Nayu didn't mean any harm..." Miyako replied awkwardly.

"..."

And just like that, silence loomed once again.

It was truly inevitable.

They were, after all, unlike the girls from Another Dimension and the ones from Muse, who had spent a long time with Homura, so suddenly knowing he liked multiple girls and probably intended to make a harem, it was only natural for them to feel a bit out of sorts and not know what to say.

Nevertheless, they really should be the ones to bring up the next topic, or else things could get awkward for Homura.

Suddenly, Fumino's eyes lit up before she turned her head to Homura.

"Oh, right, Minamiya-kun! Do you still remember that time we talked about Ri-chan and Uncle Ogata?"

"Huh? Yeah, I remember. Why?" Homura replied after thinking for a moment. "Don't tell me you all came up with a solution?'

Hearing this, the other three exchanged confused glances.

Sure, they had talked about that topic, but they hadn't come up with any solutions.

What topic?

It was about the extreme daughter complex of Rizu's father.

Homura had told them that it probably stemmed from him not realizing his daughter had grown up, and many of the things he meddled in were because of this mindset.

If they could just make him fully aware that his daughter had grown up, maybe his extreme daughter complex would ease up a bit?

After Homura brought it up, they all thought it made a lot of sense and had discussed it several times after that, but it was always a dead end—they just couldn't think of a way to make Rizu's father realize that his daughter was no longer a child.

Regardless, why did Fumino suddenly bring it up now?

"I got an idea after hearing what Minamiya-kun said today!" Fumino clenched her fist with a light punch into her palm, looking a bit excited.

Homura suddenly had a bad feeling.

An idea inspired by what he said today?

Pondering for a moment, Homura seemed to have figured something out, making his lips twitch involuntarily.

Was Fumino really about to set him up as the mortal enemy of Rizu's father from now on?

"For all fathers, the moment their daughter gets married is when they fully realize she's grown up!" Fumino continued.

Hearing this, Homura sighed inwardly.

Sure enough, he guessed it right.

"So, even if we can't let Ri-chan get married right now, wouldn't it be almost the same if she got a boyfriend?"

Upon hearing this, Miyako's and Uruka's jaws dropped, while Rizu felt like she was about to pass out again.

"Well, how should I put it..." Homura pondered, stroking his chin. "I'm honestly not against it, or rather, I'm more than willing to do it, but... it seems like you've overlooked one thing..."

"Eh? Did I miss something?" Fumino blinked in confusion.

"Yare yare..."

Homura sighed, then began to explain.

"Judging by Uncle Ogata's behavior... it's obvious he plans to keep Ogata-san by his side for the rest of her life. Any man who dares to get close to his daughter... will be turned into udon!"

"I'll be honest, Uncle Ogata is beyond obsessed… If his daughter gets a boyfriend… that boyfriend will definitely drive him insane with rage..."

Hearing Homura's explanation, the girls froze instantly.

Carefully thinking about Homura's explanation, and then recalling the usual behavior of Rizu's father, it was too accurate!

"I'm going to be stuck... by Dad's side for my entire life..."

Rizu held her head in her hands, muttering with a despairing look on her face.

"Doesn't that mean... I'll never get married or become a bride?"

"NO! Absolutely not!"

Rizu gritted her teeth and spoke with force, her face filled with determination.

"I'm going to find Dad and tell him I'm getting married!"

""What?!""

Everyone exclaimed with dumbfounded expressions.

Just moments ago, they had been worriedly watching Rizu, only for her to suddenly drop a bombshell like that!

"Wait! Ri-chan! Don't be impulsive!" Fumino exclaimed, grabbing Rizu's hand.

"Let go of me, Fumino! I need to tell Dad there's absolutely no way I can stay by his side forever!" Rizu struggled.

Uruka and Miyako, standing off to the side, didn't know what to do, so they could only look to Homura for help.

Seeing this, Homura sighed and then spoke up.

"Hold on for a sec, let me talk."

Rizu stopped struggling and looked at Homura.

"Personally, I actually understand Uncle Ogata's feelings..."

"Wait! Minamiya-kun! What are you saying?" Fumino asked with a panicked expression.

How could he suddenly say something like that?

Homura forced a bitter smile and continued.

"I can't help it. Don't mind how smoothly I explained things earlier. Back then, I was just giving an objective evaluation, so... what about subjectively?"

He glanced at everyone, but none of them could come up with an answer.

Honestly, he didn't expect to get one from them either.

"You may not know this, but I told the girls at home before that if I had a child, I would prefer a daughter." Homura continued.

"First time hearing about it..." Uruka murmured, seemingly quite interested in the topic.

"I was just thinking, y'know? If I had a daughter, so cute, small, and delicate, a little one who would sweetly call you daddy every day, wouldn't it be strange if I became a hardcore daughter complex?"

"But... I didn't do that kind of thing..." Rizu complained.

Hearing this, Homura was instantly brought back from his fantasy to reality and his lips started to twitch.

"Well, maybe Uncle Ogata just kept imagining that scene I described and playing it over and over in his mind?"

As soon as the four girls heard this, they immediately shuddered.

""Gross!""

Hearing their words, Homura also felt attacked, as if an arrow had pierced his heart.

"Anyway, that's basically what a hardcore daughter complex looks like..." Homura ended the topic and continued to the next topic with a serious expression. "More importantly, Ogata-san—No, Rizu, I need to tell you, you absolutely cannot tell your dad about what you just said!"

"Why?" Rizu asked calmly, not at all agitated.

"What else? Because you two are father and daughter."

Homura calmly responded and began to explain the reason.

"Because of our parents, we're able to come into this world. Although not all, most parents always give their best for their children..."

"Even though the bond between parent and child can never be broken, if you slip up, say the wrong thing... the scars left behind are far heavier than anything."

"I know you think your dad's actions are unbearable right now, but in the end, he's still the one who has taken care of you and protected you from when you were born until now, right?"

Hearing Homura talk about the bond between parent and child, Fumino couldn't help but feel somewhat down.

"Don't do something you will regret later, okay?"

Hearing Homura's words, Rizu fell silent.
