After seeing the GR-27 I wanted nothing more than to start exmaning it. But I reigned in my urges.
First, because my lab isn't equipped with everything I need to properly examine the virus and discover all its secrets.
I'm missing a few things. So I need to procure them before I even think of playing around with the deadly bioweapon in front of me. I'm not an a genius idiot like Reed Richards after all.
Second, I need to return home before aunt May and uncle Ben even stumble upon my deception.
I mean I would handle it if they did, but I don't want to risk it.
Especially since I'm not ready for them to learn I'm Spiderman any time soon.
Though I will eventually tell them.
Since that's another way I'm going to be different than most version of Peter Parker. Who idiotically even refused those closest to him about his heroic activities. Which definitely would've made his life so much easier.
But no, he stubbornly refused to do so.
Like numerous other comic book heroes do when it comes to their loved ones and their secret identities.
Which again to me is just idiotic.
But I'm going to stop that train of thought right here and now. Because if I don't I'll end up going down a rabbit hole and letting out a personal rant towards many superheroes.
But back to the point.
I'm not telling May, Ben, or anyone else my identity as Spiderman until I've firmly established my reputation.
Speaking of which...
Turning around in my stool I wheeled over to the other side of the train car and picked up my newly completed ghost phone.
The one I will use for all my Spiderman social media posts.
I finally finished making it just the other day.
Turning the phone one I then downloaded the Twitter and Instagram apps.
After which I quickly set up my accounts on both app under the screename FriendlySpider.
Once I finished this I put the phone up before exiting the train car, where I then portal'd to my bedroom.
I then shut the portal, sent my suit away, slipped into my pajamas, dispelled my doppelganger, then climbed into bed for some much needed rest.
"Peter, Harry's okay. He's safe!"
Only for May to burst into my room the second after I climbed into bed.
I guess this must be that famous Parker luck at work.
------------------
Acting utterly shocked by May's words, even though I wasn't, I played a fool about Harry being safe.
I then manuerved May out of room and truly went to sleep.
Then I headed to school the next day as usual.
Finding everyone talking about how Harry was safe, and about how it was Spiderman who saved him.
"See, I told you guys Spiderman would be an awesome hero." Flash loudly proclaimed as I passed him in fnd hallway.
Making me want to throw up a little bit.
Considering the bully he used to dish out on me as Peter Parker. But he turns into a simp for me in my Spiderman identity.
It's enough to make a grown man cry.
But I won't.
Reaching my locker I saw Felicia with the others.
"So did you guys get the news last about Harry as well?" I asked.
"Yeah. And I'm so glad he's okay. I don't havesny friends so losing one would seriously suck." Ned said.
"My father was actually the one who led the charge to rescue Harry. So I heard about it firsthand." Gwen said.
"Ah, so are you the one who told people Spiderman was there?" Felicia asked Gwen.
Who shook her head. "No. Actually I'm not even sure who it was."
"Likely one of the officers on scene." I said.
Since I know I sure as hell didn't tell anyone I was there last night.
Meaning I'm already starting to make friends in law enforcement.
Good.
Or who knows it might've been Harry or Norman who leaked my attendance at the party last night.
Either way I'm good.
"You might be right." Gwen replied.
Though before we could discuss my nightly escapade any further the warning bell for class rang.
So with that everyone started getting a move on.
My friends and I continuing our discussion at lunch, and then a bit after school before I interrupted.
"Hey, I'm going to go and see Harry. Anyone want to come with me?" I asked.
"I will." Gwen said.
"I wish I could but I've got family stuff." Ned spoke.
"Yeah, me too." Felicia added. "My mom is being her usual self."
"Well since we don't know what her usual self I'll just take it it's not good?"
"It depends on who you are." Felicia replied. "Anyway, see you guys later."
"Yeah, see you." Ned spoke.
He and Felicia then walked off.
Meanwhile Gwen and I started making our way towards Harry home.
Making small talk along the way.
Until we eventually reached our destination.
The building where the Osborn family lived.
As well as owned.
Well Norman owns it personally, having bought the place after he and his family moved in, but my earlier point still stands.
Entering through the front doors I said hello the doorman and headed up in the elevator with Gwen.
"So, looks like you come here often."
"Yeah, ever since I was about seven years old. Why? You jealous?" I asked.
"No, just curious."
"Sure." I replied.
Gwen giving me a light punch in the shoulder in response.
Just after she did the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened.
When it did Gwen and I walked down the long corridor and I knocked.
The door itself opening a moment later.
Having been done so by Emily Lyman.
[Insert Image of Emily/Lyman Here]
Environmental lawyer and researcher. As well as the wife of Norman and the mother of Harry.
"Oh Peter. Hello. Are you here to check up on Harry?"
"Same to you Ms. Osborn. And yes I am. Along with our friend Gwen." I said. Introducing Gwen.
"Gwendolyn Stacy. A pleasure to meet you." Gwen spoke.
"Stacy. You wouldn't happen to be related to captain Stacy would you?"
"He actually my father." Gwen replied.
"Mom, whose at the door?" I heard Harry shout.
"Peter and your friend Gwen from school." Emily replied.
She then stepped back and let us in.
Where once we were Harry came over to greet the both of us. "Guys, thanks for coming."
"Of course. What are fiends for?" I said to Harry.
As the two of us shared a manly handshake.
Then right after we did Norman walked into the room.
"Ah, hello Peter. Also, welcome young lady." He spoke.
Thus Gwen introduced herself again.
"I see. So you are the captain daughter." Norman mused. "In that case can you tahin him once again for last night. Even if Spiderman handled this Mister Negative and his thugs it was a relief to be taken of so we'll afterwards."
"That's no issue Mir. Osborn. I'll let him know." Gwen replied
"Thank you." Norman replied. "Well then, don't let my wife and I keep you kids. Go on." He spoke.
So with that our group of three headed up to Harry's room.
"So Harry, how are you really doing?" I asked.
"It's a lot." He admitted. "Though it probably would've been much worse if not for Spiderman. Still don't why he saved me."
"Because he's a hero, obviously." I spoke.
"Now you're starting to sound like Flash Peter." Gwen spoke.
Making my entire body shiver.
"Gwen, I humbly ask you to never compare to Flash like that again. Ever."
"I make no promises." Gwen replied.
The three of us then shared a laugh.
After which we chatted for a while before Gwen and I took our leave.
Then as soon as we stepped outside the building I got a call on my civilian line.
"Hello?" I answered. Since it was an unknown number.
"Hello Peter. This is Dr. Susan Storm." She explained.
"Oh Doctor Storm, it's you." I said.
"What?!" Gwen shouted in my ear, right after a did. Stars in her eyes. "Peter this isn't a joke right? That's really doctor Susan Storm, right?"
"Peter, who is that?" Susan asked.
"Ah, just a friend of mine whose a really big fan of yours." I replied. Easily holding back Gwen from taking my phone with my spider strength.
Even though the slightly crazed look in her eyes kept getting darker as the seconds went by.
"That's why, if you don't mind I would ask if you could speak with her for a few minutes after we finish our conversation? For that matter may I ask why you are calling me from an unknown number?" I questioned.
"To answer your first question, yes I can spare a few minutes to talk to your friend after our conversation is over. As to your second question my little brother destroyed the phone we normally use to make calls like this. That's why right now I'm using my cellphone." Susan explained.
"Understood." I replied.
Giving a mental salute to Johnny Storm for the storm that is his sister he has to face.
Since from what I saw of the tongue lashing she gave Reed a while back the Human Torch is about to get raked over the coals.
Pun intended.
"Now then, as to why I am calling you in the first place it's because your first share of the profits made from the Hydrogel is ready for you to pick up." Susan explained.
"Really? I mean not that I'm not happy to hear this I'd just thought this moment would take a little longer to reach. I mean we only finalized our deal less than a month ago." I spoke.
"Well as you said when you first came to Reed, I mean Doctor Richards and I with this proposal it was because of our groups numerous connections and resources. Which allowed us to easily produce several finalized products of the Hydrogel, which we then distributed to companies that we trust. Who loved your work Peter. So much so they have sent in several pre-orders. And we keep getting more each and every day. That's why your royalty check is ready and waiting. So when would you like to come pick it up?"
"Tomorrow, if that's good." I spoke.
I mean the sooner I get my money the better.
"That's fine with me." Susan replied.
We then finalized a time before I hung up.
Only to reliaze I didn't give Gwen the opportunity to talk to Susan.
'Oops.' I thought.
Noticing an extremely angry scowl on Gwen's face.
"Now Gwen before you say anything I have meeting with Doctor Storm tomorrow and I was wondering if you would like to come along?"
"Yes!" Gwen yelled at me.
Her frown turning upside down.
So crisis avoided.
Just another good days work for your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman.
Even though I had to sacrifice Susan to do it.
But I don't think she'll mind Gwen being there tomorrow.
Besides, this is the perfect chance for both of us to meet the entire Fantastic Four.
Since the last time I was there I didn't meet either Benjamin Grimm or Johnny Storm.
So yeah, this will be great all around.
I just hope nothing goes wrong.
...
...
...
Wait? Did I just jinx myself?
Fuck I did.
Well since that's the case all I can ask of the Parker luck is that tomorrow doesn't become a giant clusterfuck.
Please.
My silent prayer made I walked Gwen home, like a gentleman should, then headed home myself.
Going to bed earlier, so I can be well-rested to deal with any shenanigans tomorrow.
But again Parker luck, give me a break.
Please.
