The Sword And The Flower: An Unexpected Love! from My Vampire System

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: What is this?

Russ and Ceril walked in silence. Russ, a few steps behind her. He kept going over in his head the things he had said and wanted to shove the black sword through his chest at this particular moment. He felt like an idiot, 'what am I feeling?' He thought to himself.

Russ looked up and stared at the young woman walking in front of him. Not sure what to say he looked back down at the ground and continued walking.

Just then, Ceril looked over her shoulder. "How are things with that sword?" She asked. "I mean, with all its power, I heard it seemed to be somewhat, harmful, when Layla wielded it" she said, slowing her pace.

"Well…" Russ began, Thinking to himself, 'Ok doofus, watch your words', "I have had pretty good sex…SUCCESS…" Russ stopped walking.

Ceril stopped and turned around, a smile apparent on her face. "Go on" she said, a sparkle in her eyes.

Russ clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, then spoke, slowly, "It's been fine, I think this is your room correct?", He pointed to the door just up ahead.

"Oh! Why yes it is" Ceril said, trying not to sound disappointed. "I didn't realize we had arrived". She gave Russ a a sheepish smile.

"Well then, I bid you goodnight." Russ turned on his heels and walked away, willing himself not to look back.

Ceril giggled to herself, putting one hand over her mouth to hide her smile, in case Russ looked back. He didn't though, and she stood there, watching him walk away.

"Did I do or say something wrong?" She said quietly to herself. With that she turned and opened the door to her room, giving one last look to the back…and backside of the man walking away, she smiled and entered her room.

As Russ walked he swore at himself under his breath, "What the F*CK is wrong with me?". "Looks to me like you got a case of the likesies!" A voice sound in Russ's head.

Russ stopped and looked around, "What?…Who?…." Russ turned in a 180 degree circle and back again. Then it clicked, the voice he heard was none other than, the Black Swordsman whose soul resided in his black sword.

"What the hell do you know?" Russ asked, he pulled the sword from its sheath and shook it a little. "You know…" the Swordsman started, "I wasn't always a sword!". "I did once live as a human."

Russ squinted his eyes and glared at the sword. Pointing two fingers at it he said, "You mind your own business!" And returned the sword to its scabbard.

"I'm just saying it seems as though you have, in phrase from long ago, caught feelings!" The swordsman said with a chuckle. "Maybe it's what you need?".

Russ look down at the sword on his hip, a scowl on his face. "I know you can't be broken but I could throw you into the middle of the ocean!" Russ said with indignation seeping from every word.

Russ took a deep breath and with sigh he said "I need some air", rubbing his eyes with one hand. He walked down the hall and made his way outside.

The Green's owned basically everything and had piles of money, so of course everything was pristine. He walked out to the front lawn? Yard? Area? Garden? Russ didn't know, because to call it anything other than massive was an understatement.

He found a secluded spot under a tree, took his sword off and leaned up against it, laid down, and looked up at the night sky. 'What do I do?' He thought to himself. A voice chimed in "go to her", "tell her how you feel" "maybe kiss…", Russ grabbed the sword from where he leaned it and tossed it as hard as he could across the grassy area.

"That's enough from you!" Russ scoffed. He lay back down again, staring at the waning crescent moon. "This is dumb!" He said out loud. "I've talked to women before", "Hell, I've had plenty of girlfriends and a few quick flings" he sat up, "but there's just something about her, I just can't put my finger on it" he said, staring at nothing in particular.

"Put it on her!" A distant voice proclaimed. Russ snapped his head in the direction he threw the sword and yelled "THAT'S IT, YOU'RE TAKING A SWIM!" jumped to his feet, and stormed off in the direction of the sword.

Meanwhile, Ceril lay in her bed, the faint light of the moon shone through the window. Her mind was reeling with so many different thoughts. 'Was he just being silly?' She wondered to herself, 'Or is he actually stupid?' She laughed to herself and rolled onto her back. She could feel her heart beating faster the more she thought about their interaction.

She pressed a finger to her lips and thought, 'maybe I'll wait for him to make the first move', she rolled over so her back was facing the window, "I've never been with a human before, I'd never even seen a human until I went on that Marpo cruise with my sister!" She said out loud, in a hushed voice.

She started to think about that time she spent with her sister Wince and she started to miss her. Just then she heard a loud shout come from outside. She sat up quickly and rushed to the window.

When she looked out she saw Russ, standing in the middle of some trees in the front courtyard of the Green building. If it wasn't for her enhance Mervamp sight she wouldn't have been able to see him well.

She saw him stomp over and pick up the sword that was laying on the ground, for some reason, he grasped it in both hand and started shaking it. To Ceril it looked as though Russ was trying to…strangle his sword?

Ceril audibly laughed and shaking her head said, "He is a strange one". She then looked, longingly, for a moment then turned, lay down in bed, and fell fast asleep.
