Chapter 4: Chapter-3 : Mochizuki senju
At five years old, Akira's days were filled with lessons under the watchful eyes of his private teacher, Mochizuki Senju. His parents, especially his mother Umeko, had spared no expense in ensuring he received the best education. Mochizuki, a kunoichi of the renowned Senju clan, was not only a skilled Jonin but also a close friend of Umeko's from their younger years.
Mochizuki was an imposing yet graceful figure, standing tall with an air of quiet confidence. Her long black hair was usually tied in a sleek ponytail, and her sharp green eyes always seemed to assess everything around her. Despite her elegance, she carried the strength and discipline that came with being a Senju. Known for her mastery of ninjutsu, genjutsu, and the Senju style of taijutsu, Mochizuki was a formidable kunoichi who had earned the respect of many in the Hidden Leaf Village.
Her bond with Akira was unique. While she was strict during their lessons, she also had a nurturing side that reminded Akira of his mother. "Focus, Akira," she would say in a firm yet kind tone whenever his attention wandered. She treated him not just as a student but as a child she cared deeply for, likely due to her long-standing friendship with Umeko.
Initially, Akira found it intimidating to train under someone so skilled. However, over time, he grew to admire her. Her patience, dedication, and occasional humor made the lessons enjoyable. Akira noticed that she had a way of simplifying even the most complicated concepts, whether it was basic math, history, or the fundamentals of chakra control. Though he was too young to train seriously as a ninja, Mochizuki made sure to build his foundation, subtly introducing him to breathing techniques and light physical exercises under the guise of "games."
When lessons ended, Mochizuki often stayed for tea with Umeko, reminiscing about their childhood and sharing updates on life in the village. Akira would listen quietly, occasionally catching glimpses of Mochizuki's life as a ninja. She rarely spoke of her missions in detail, but her stories gave him a deeper understanding of the dangers of the world he lived in.
"Mochizuki-sensei," Akira asked one afternoon, his pink hair catching the sunlight as he sat cross-legged on the floor, "why do you train me when I'm not a ninja?"
She smiled, her expression softening. "Because, Akira, the strongest warriors aren't always born on the battlefield. You don't need to be a ninja to learn discipline, focus, and strength. These lessons will help you, no matter where life takes you."
Their bond deepened with each passing day, and Akira came to see Mochizuki as more than just a teacher. She was a protector, a guide, and a connection to the ninja world he longed to understand. Though he still felt the weight of uncertainty about his future, having Mochizuki as his mentor gave him a sense of security and hope.
Scene: A Quiet Afternoon at Akira's Estate
Akira sat cross-legged on the grassy lawn, the warm afternoon sun casting dappled shadows through the trees. Mochizuki Senju stood before him, her arms crossed, her presence as commanding as ever. Today was the day she would begin to teach him the basics of training, something Akira had been eagerly waiting for.
Akira: "Sensei, when will I learn to fight like a ninja? I've been doing all those breathing exercises you taught me, but I want to do something more exciting!"
Mochizuki: (chuckling) "Patience, Akira. A strong ninja isn't built in a day. Before you can learn to fight, you must train your body and mind. Strength comes from mastering the basics. Let's start by reviewing what you've been practicing so far."
Akira: (eagerly) "I've been doing the breathing exercises—counting to four as I breathe in and out. It's supposed to help me focus and control my energy, right?"
Mochizuki: "Exactly. That's the foundation of chakra control. Without it, even the strongest ninjutsu will fail. Now, let's talk about physical training. Starting tomorrow, we'll add new exercises to your routine."
Physical Exercises
Mochizuki knelt down to Akira's level, explaining each exercise with care:
1. Running and Stamina Building:
"Every morning, you'll run five laps around your estate. It's not just about speed—it's about endurance. A ninja must be able to run long distances without getting tired. Over time, we'll increase the laps."
2. Stretching and Flexibility:
"Before and after running, you'll stretch. Flexibility is crucial for taijutsu. A stiff body can't dodge or counter effectively."
3. Strength Training:
"You'll start with simple push-ups and sit-ups. At your age, ten of each will do for now. As you grow stronger, we'll increase the count."
4. Balance Practice:
"You'll practice standing on one leg on a wooden post for as long as you can. This will improve your balance and focus, both of which are essential for combat."
5. Climbing Practice:
"Using the trees in your yard, you'll climb without tools. This will build your arm and leg strength, and later, we'll integrate chakra into your climbing."
Conversation Turns to the Hidden Leaf Village
As Akira processed the new training plan, his curiosity got the better of him.
Akira: "Sensei, can you tell me more about the Hidden Leaf Village? I hear people talk about it all the time, but I don't know much."
Mochizuki: (smiling fondly) "The Hidden Leaf Village, or Konohagakure, is the heart of the Land of Fire. It's one of the Five Great Ninja Villages, and it was founded decades ago by two legendary figures: Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha. Hashirama was from my clan—the Senju—and he believed in unity and peace, which is why he worked with Madara to create the village."
Akira: "But why did they need to make a village? Couldn't everyone just live together?"
Mochizuki: (nodding) "It wasn't that simple. Before the villages, the world was in chaos. Ninja clans constantly fought one another for power and survival. It was dangerous for everyone. Hashirama wanted to stop the endless wars, so he convinced the clans to unite and form a village where they could live and protect each other. That's how the Hidden Leaf was born."
Akira: "And Madara? What happened to him?"
Mochizuki: (hesitating, her tone more serious) "Madara and Hashirama had different views on how to achieve peace. Their friendship fell apart, and Madara eventually left the village. He believed strength and control were the only ways to maintain order, but Hashirama believed in trust and cooperation. Their conflict became legendary."
Akira: (thinking hard) "So, the village is meant to protect people. But why are there wars now? Isn't the Hidden Leaf strong enough to stop them?"
Mochizuki: (sighing) "The world is complicated, Akira. Villages were created to protect people, but not everyone agrees on how to maintain peace. Resources, territory, and power—these are things people still fight over. That's why ninja exist: to defend their villages and the people in them."
Akira: (determined) "I want to become a ninja like you, Sensei. I want to protect the people I care about."
Mochizuki: (placing a hand on his shoulder) "Then focus on your training, Akira. The path of a ninja is not easy, but with your determination, I believe you can achieve great things."
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the estate, Akira stood and began practicing his balance exercise on one leg, determined to take his first step toward becoming strong enough to face the challenges of this world. Mochizuki watched him with a small smile, proud of her student's resolve and quietly hopeful for his future.
