The Tangled Threads of Love

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 - The Hairpin

Prince Hendrix was walking on the side of the lake and he saw Princess Ara walking on the bridge. As he went further away, he accidentally saw Princess Zakia washing her face with the lake's water. He was curious about her real face so he hid himself in the woods.

She was happy with the water on her hand down to her arm. She was looking at the moon and the stars shining bright up in the sky. It made her smile and then, tried dipping her feet in the water. It was cold yet she enjoyed the beauty of the place. A bird was flying in the sky and fell on her hand. She kissed the bird and it flew away. "Fly high, Mr. Black." She removed her hairpin and her silky black hair was shining too. Its length is from her head to her butt.
Amazed by her beauty, Prince Hendrix was bitten by an insect that was why he reacted. He accidentally went off the woods and then realized that Princess Zakia was looking at him. She was covering her face with the mask and was furious against him.
"Who told you to get here?" She covered her chest with her arms and looked at him angrily.
"I was just roaming around and I was bit by an insect." He faced her with an inch between them. "Besides, I am free to do so because this is the Kingdom of Azadonia." He couldn't resist the beauty of her captivating eyes that was why he looked closely at her.
She pushed her lightly avoiding him to see her embarrassment. "I'll just leave here. You're annoying." She was about to leave but he grabbed her wrist.
"Wait a moment I apologize for being rude. I just want to see you close." He was openly telling her what he felt and that made her face red behind her mask.
"Thank you but please release me."
"Sorry. What is your name?" He knew but he wanted to hear her voice again and start a simple conversation with her.
"Okay. I wanted to be honest. Nice to meet you, Prince Hendrix. of the Kingdom of Azria. I am now introducing myself as Princess Zakia Dorothy of the Kingdom of Samdrathania." She gave her greetings and Prince Hendrix was shocked about her telling his name.
"How did you know that I am Prince Hendrix?" His eyebrows met while she laughed lightly.
"Who would ever dare to say the name of a lucky prince like you? Unlike me who was born unlucky according to the prophecy." This made her sad and tried to hide it herself, but the prince was wise seeing her captivating eyes made him feel her feelings now.
He released a boisterous laugh and made her shocked a little. "The prophecy is not real. You can be the best if you believe. There is no lucky or unlucky person, my Princess Zakia Dorothy." He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of her hand. She looked away and thought about him as a gentleman. She was embarrassed about how he treated him well. She was wondering why he treated him well.
She was doubting herself because people around her were mean and all they had to do was to make her feel embarrassed. She was afraid of people, but look at her now, she could manage to attend the banquet after seventeen years. She was hidden, thinking about the people who wanted to kill her to avoid making the prophecy real. She hid and avoided any interaction with others but look at her now talking with Prince Hendrix who looked friendly and gentleman to her.
She was attempting to pull her hand but she was afraid of making him embarrassed. It is normal for him to greet her like that because of the rules and customs of the Kingdom. "Just let me go."
"It's fine if you don't like being touched. I apologize for this." He put a smile plastered on his face and asked her to leave with him and they came back to the banquet together.
The space between them made Princess Ara furiously stand. She went out of the banquet hall and went to her room silently. She didn't want to tell everyone how she felt at that time. She was thinking that maybe, people would laugh at her having a crush on Prince Hendrix. She covered herself with her quilt and started crying silently.
The maid was left outside her bedroom hall and there she heard her crying alone. She had been observing the princess since she walked into the garden and came to the banquet hall. She made a theory that the princess liked Prince Hendrix. She saw it in her eyes looking at this good-looking young man. She was sure it was him.
She left the bedroom hall and prepared the bath for the princess to make her calm, she put some herbs in the bathtub to relieve her princess' mood.
"Princess Ara, let me ask you to take a bath now to relax."
"I don't like to take a bath. Just leave me alone." She put her quilt above her head and continued crying. The maid stopped making her feel uneasy and upset. She left her to have space.
Prince Hendrix went back to the lake and found something precious on the ground, Princess Zakia's hairpin. He smiled while looking at the gold hairpin and smelled the vanilla with strawberry fragrance. She smelled good and lovely to him. He went to get in the palanquin and even snatched a glance at the hem of her dress. He avoided smiling like crazy and when he was in the palanquin, he continued smiling freely. He was amazed at her and made his heart flutter more.
It was in the middle of the night when he arrived at his bedroom hall and prepared for a hot bath to relax. He was determined to know her whereabouts tomorrow to know her more. He intended to like her secretly that was why he was planning to attend there in the Kingdom of Samdrathania to make sure he surely made her heart be taken by him. Thinking about this made him feel like crazy. He couldn't deny how he wanted to be with her soon.
