Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Someone’s Shooting
An explosion?
Was it from the auction side?
Alex's thoughts moved, and in turn, he was a bit hesitant.
If it was really an explosion on the auction side, then there should be some kind of chaos.
If there was a mess, it meant that it would be easier to fish in troubled waters.
But at the same time, it also meant more risk.
To go or not to go?
Alex thought for a moment.
Anyway, just stay away.
As for Saul's safety—
Alex didn't even think about it.
Even if all the people attending the auction were to die, he believed that Saul would definitely be the one to survive to the end.
To say why—ever since that day when he heard the sniper realm taught by Saul, Alex deeply understood one thing:
As long as you run fast enough, then the enemy's guns, bullets, swords, and shadows—or whatever—won't be able to catch up with you.
And Alex thought that Saul, as a veteran sniper who even Jesus Burgess had to report to with respect, even if his hard power wasn't strong, the realm of running fast might have already reached the level of the peak.
After making a decision, Alex put away his gun and, in one leap, easily jumped on top of the building.
The three pirates he hunted tonight had brought him substantial gains, and naturally, his jumping power had increased.
Just jumping up a two- or three-story-high house was no longer a matter of concern.
Leaping forward on top of the complex, Alex headed towards the direction where the auction was located.
In a short while, Alex arrived at Cape Lookout Street, where the auction house was located.
It took some effort to find a suitable viewing position on top of the building.
Only, in order to avoid the possibility of being swept up in it, the place chosen by Alex was still some distance away from the auction.
When he looked towards the auction house, he could only clearly see the black smoke coming out from the auction house. As for the crowd outside the auction house, he could only barely see a rough picture.
In this situation, Alex suddenly felt that it seemed necessary to have a pair of goggles with tactical functions or a small telescope that was easy to carry around.
Just like at this moment, it was possible to ensure that one was in a safe enough area and still be able to see the situation clearly.
"Should we get a little closer?"
Alex pondered.
"Forget it, safety first."
Soon, Alex gave up the idea of wading into danger.
If he could get experience just by killing these pirates, then he was willing to take the risk, after all, the benefits were there.
But after all, the Hunter's Notes had limitations, so there was no need to take risks in this situation.
Just stay in a safe place and wait patiently.
When luck comes, someone's head will naturally come to the door.
If luck didn't come, then wait for the next chance.
Holding [Usopp] in his hand, Alex leaned against the side of a long pipe chimney and looked out at the situation outside the auction house from afar.
Aside from a puff of smoke, the crowd gathered outside the auction house was fairly calm, and there wasn't any too noticeable commotion.
Or maybe it was because the armed teams at the auction house were controlling the scene.
"Looks like it's just a lot of thunder."
Alex glanced at the thick smoke heading towards the sky and was a little disappointed.
If there was no killing, where was the cheapness to be found?
In his preconceived notions, he wasn't looking for an intense level of either you die or I live like the Battle at the Top, but it would be fine to have a chaotic battle at least.
There would be a messy battle before there would be a fight, and there would be a fight before there would be a person who temporarily retired because of an injury.
At that time, it was the right time for him to take advantage of the situation to pick up a few heads.
But although the reckoning was loud, the mess was so small that in the end, he probably couldn't get anything out of it.
"A random shit-stirrer would be fine."
Alex muttered to himself.
As soon as the words fell, as if to confirm his open mouth, another explosion came from within the auction house.
Immediately afterward, a figure rushed out of the smoke like a tank crashing into the crowd.
"Eh?"
Alex instantly came to his senses and gazed at the vast street outside the auction house.
With his eyesight, he could only see an approximation.
It seemed that a "person" had killed its way out of the auction house and then smashed the crowd into pieces.
"Good guy!"
Looking from afar, Alex secretly said good.
In order to see the situation outside the auction house more clearly, he stopped crouching and felt his way towards the auction house.
At this moment.
Outside the auction arena.
The crowd was chaotic, and limbs were flying around.
A two-meter-tall fishman was rampaging through the crowd.
"Get lost!"
The fishman's face was hideous, and his mouth full of sharp teeth was like a long, sharp knife, biting those in its way into several pieces in an instant.
The frightening thing was that among the scattered pieces of the corpse, there happened to be a piece that fell into the fishman's mouth in a smooth manner.
Gulp—
That fishman, however, didn't spit out the corpse piece but swallowed it raw as a way to fill up that empty stomach.
"Get away, get away, all of you, get away from me!"
"I want to go back, back to the sea!"
The fishman's face was covered in blinding blood, and while roaring furiously, he poked his hands forward, each gripping the cheekbone of a pirate.
The amazing grip force suddenly erupted, and the heads of the two pirates exploded like watermelons.
Afterward, the fishman continued to charge forward with unabated momentum.
However, there were simply too many humans around him, and no matter how hard he tried, to the onlookers, he was stumbling and was only a distance away from breaking out called [Despair].
Unsurprisingly, in this kind of desperate situation, even if the fishman was no matter how capable of killing, he would definitely die of exhaustion in the end.
"It's a fishman, it's over if we get close to him. Shoot, shoot to kill him!"
In the midst of the chaos, someone in the crowd suddenly roared.
Bang—
Someone fired in response.
However, instead of hitting the fishman, the bullet that was fired hit an unlucky pirate.
"Which dumbass fired that shot?"
The companion of the pirate who was shot was shocked and furious. It was hard to imagine that in such a situation where there were many surrounded by few, there would be an idiot who would shoot.
Was this someone who thought his usual shooting skills were too lousy and then came to find self-confidence?
"Get out of the way, all of you."
The auction armed team was like a pair of big hands, hardening the crowd and paving a passage.
"Stop, that fishman slave is an important item for the auction!"
"Screw you, you're riding on your face and still stop?"
A pirate whose companion was killed by the fishman stared with crimson eyes and raised his gun to aim at the fishman's back.
When he was about to pull the trigger, a member of the armed squad made a timely move and snatched the pirate's flintlock pistol from behind to take advantage of the chaos.
The pirate who was about to shoot froze for a moment, and when he turned around and was about to curse, a gunshot suddenly sounded in his ears.
The pirate's body shook, looked down at his bleeding chest, his lips moved, and he collapsed into a corpse on the spot.
The armed team member who grabbed the pistol froze at the sight and, for a moment, thought that the gun had gone off.
"Who fired the gun?"
A question mark popped up in the head of the armed team member.
Suddenly, someone could be heard shouting.
"The people from the auction house did it! Someone was killed by them!"
"I didn't...!"
That armed team member had just opened his mouth to defend himself.
There was another shot.
The bullet hit him squarely in the center of his eyebrow, curbing his words that he didn't have time to finish.
With a pirate and an armed team member shot and killed, chaos was beginning to set in.
"Damn it, kill my brother!"
Bang—
After the gunshot, another armed team member was shot and fell to the ground.
The one who shouted and fired again, however, quickly retreated back into the crowd and disappeared in an instant.
Although the armed team on the auction house's side had been inexplicably taken out by two of its members, they ultimately represented the auction house's position and did not rashly return fire.
However, then came another two shots that directly shattered their stance.
For a moment, the scene became even more chaotic...
Although the fishman slave didn't know what was happening, it was as if he saw an opportunity, and his abusive pirate's movements looked more and more numb.
"Who gave the assist?"
On the top of a building, the surprised Alex quickly put away [Usopp] and whirled around to jump into the alleyway between the buildings.
"Is it hard to believe that there are peers around?"
Alex quickly shifted his position.
After he touched the scene, he realized that the "person" who broke out from the auction house was a fishman.
After observing the scene for a while, he felt that the scene was too harmonious, so he attempted to fire a shot.
Originally, he did not expect too much.
Unexpectedly, after he fired the shot, a series of [assists] sprang up like a rainbow.
After that, the developments were beyond his expectations.
Listening to the sounds of killing coming from the side of the auction house, Alex traveled through the building alleyways, loading his ammunition while accelerating his pace.
He wasn't running with his feet on the ground, but he was planning to change places and see if any fish leaked out.
