Chapter 24: When boundaries becomes blurred (mature)

The restroom was quiet save for the faint hum of the fluorescent lights above, but within the last stall, a different kind of sound filled the air—soft moans and muffled breaths that intertwined like a forbidden melody. Cael found himself pressed against the cool tiles, his hands clutching Nathan's shoulders as their mouths moved in sync, devouring each other like they'd been starved for far too long.

Nathan's lips were relentless, exploring every inch of Cael's, his tongue teasing, his teeth grazing just enough to make Cael shiver. The intensity left Cael breathless, his chest heaving against Nathan's solid frame. The heat between them was unbearable, like a fire threatening to consume them both.

Cael's mind swirled with conflicting emotions—desire, embarrassment, and the lingering question of how he had ended up in such an intimate moment in a place so public. But none of it seemed to matter when Nathan's hands roamed his body, firm and possessive, like he was memorizing every curve, every inch of him.

"Na… Nathan," Cael tried to speak between kisses, his voice trembling, but Nathan silenced him with another deep, hungry kiss. His hand cupped Cael's cheek tenderly, contrasting with the raw urgency in the way his other hand slid lower, finding its place on Cael's hip before gripping him firmly.

Cael gasped as Nathan's hand traveled down, brushing against the curve of his backside before boldly squeezing. A soft moan escaped him, his head tilting back instinctively, giving Nathan more access to his neck. Nathan didn't waste the opportunity, his lips trailing down to the sensitive skin just below Cael's jawline, nipping and sucking gently enough to leave a mark.

"Nathan, someone might…" Cael's words faltered as a jolt of pleasure surged through him. Nathan's touch was magnetic, pulling him deeper into a haze of longing.

"You're beautiful when you're like this," Nathan murmured against his skin, his voice low and dripping with desire. His hand ventured lower, slipping beneath the waistband of Cael's pants. The action made Cael's breath hitch, his heart pounding so loudly he wondered if Nathan could hear it.

"Wait, Nathan…" Cael whispered, his voice trembling, but Nathan's lips found his again, swallowing any protest. His hand moved with a confidence that left Cael reeling, fingers brushing against a place that made him gasp audibly.

"You're wet," Nathan teased, his voice husky, laced with amusement and desire. His finger traced the sensitive area, eliciting a series of soft, involuntary moans from Cael. The sensation was overwhelming, foreign yet undeniably intoxicating.

"Nathan, I—" Cael tried to form a coherent thought, but his body betrayed him, instinctively arching into Nathan's touch. The heat pooling in his lower abdomen was unlike anything he had ever experienced.

Nathan leaned in, his lips brushing against Cael's ear. "Tell me to stop, and I will," he whispered, his voice gentle yet commanding. The sincerity in his tone made Cael's chest tighten.

Cael's mind screamed at him to push Nathan away, to remind himself where they were, but his body refused to comply. Instead, his hands found their way to Nathan's chest, gripping his shirt tightly as he let out a shaky breath.

"I… I don't know," Cael admitted softly, his cheeks flushed. His honesty seemed to stir something in Nathan, who paused for a moment, studying Cael's expression.

Nathan cupped Cael's face with both hands, his gaze softening as he leaned their foreheads together. "You're intoxicating, you know that?" he said with a small smile, his voice tender. "I'll wait for you, Cael. Whenever you're ready."

The words were like a lifeline, grounding Cael amidst the storm of emotions swirling inside him. He looked into Nathan's warm, brown eyes and saw something he didn't expect—patience, understanding, and a depth of affection that made his heart ache in the best way possible.

Cael let out a shaky laugh, the tension easing slightly. "You're impossible, you know that?" he said, his voice tinged with both exasperation and fondness.

Nathan chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to Cael's forehead. "Only for you."

The sound of footsteps outside the restroom startled them both, pulling them back to reality. Nathan adjusted Cael's clothes with surprising gentleness, his touch lingering for a moment longer than necessary.

"Let's get out of here," Nathan suggested, his tone light but his eyes still smoldering with unspoken promises.

Cael nodded, his heart still racing as he followed Nathan out of the stall. As they stepped into the open air, the cool breeze hit Cael's flushed cheeks, a stark contrast to the heat that still lingered between them. He glanced at Nathan, who shot him a playful wink, and couldn't help but smile despite himself.

For the first time in a long while, Cael felt alive—terrified, exhilarated, and undeniably drawn to the man who had just turned his world upside down.

The cool air outside the restroom did little to calm the storm inside Cael's mind. His cheeks were still flushed, and his heart refused to slow its erratic beating. He stole a glance at Nathan, who walked beside him with a confident stride, his smirk playful, as if what had just happened was the most natural thing in the world.

Cael, on the other hand, felt anything but natural. His thoughts were a jumbled mess, replaying the events in the restroom over and over again. How had things escalated so quickly? They had been shopping for art supplies, discussing brushes and paints, and then… then that happened. His lips tingled at the memory of Nathan's kiss, the way it left him breathless and lightheaded.

It wasn't supposed to go like this. It was their first meeting, after all. A simple, friendly exchange that turned into stolen glances and teasing remarks, and before Cael even knew it, he'd found himself cornered by Nathan's intensity, both thrilling and terrifying.

Cael's grip tightened on the small bag of sketchbooks and charcoal pencils he had just purchased, grounding himself in the mundane weight of it. It felt surreal—how could something as ordinary as shopping for art supplies lead to this?

"Hey," Nathan's voice broke through his thoughts. He stopped walking and turned to face Cael, his expression softening. "You okay? You've been quiet."

Cael hesitated, his gaze flickering away. "I… I'm fine," he mumbled, though the tightness in his voice betrayed him.

Nathan raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "You don't seem fine. Did I…" He trailed off, his tone quieter now. "Did I go too far?"

The question caught Cael off guard. He looked up at Nathan, who, for all his cocky charm, seemed genuinely concerned. The teasing smirk was gone, replaced by a sincerity that made Cael's chest ache.

"No, it's not that," Cael admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's just… this is all so sudden. We just met, and now…" His words faltered as he gestured vaguely, unable to articulate the chaos in his head.

Nathan tilted his head slightly, studying him. Then, with a small, almost apologetic smile, he said, "You're right. I got carried away." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking almost sheepish. "I guess I just couldn't help myself. You're… you're something else, Cael."

Cael's breath hitched at the way Nathan said his name, like it was something precious. But his worries still lingered, gnawing at the edges of his thoughts.

Nathan took a small step closer, his presence warm and grounding. "Listen," he said gently, "I don't want to rush you into anything. I know I can be… a lot." He chuckled softly, and it eased some of the tension in the air. "But I mean it when I say I like you, Cael. I'd like to get to know you better—no pressure, no expectations."

Cael swallowed hard, his heart doing a strange little flip at Nathan's honesty. It was disarming, the way this man could go from bold and flirtatious to earnest and vulnerable in the blink of an eye.

"I just…" Cael began, his voice wavering. "I don't want to ruin anything. We've only just met, and I—" He paused, searching for the right words. "I'm not sure where this is going."

Nathan nodded, his expression understanding. "We don't have to figure it all out right now," he said. "Let's just… take it one step at a time. No rush."

The simplicity of Nathan's words brought a strange sense of relief to Cael. He nodded slowly, his shoulders relaxing just a fraction.

They resumed walking, the silence between them now softer, less suffocating. Cael's thoughts continued to whirl, though, his mind replaying the moments that had unfolded in the restroom. It wasn't just the kiss—it was the way Nathan looked at him, like he was the only person in the world. It was overwhelming, and yet, a small part of Cael yearned to feel it again.

As they reached the bus stop, Nathan turned to him with a smile. "I'll wait with you," he said, leaning casually against the pole.

Cael blinked, surprised. "You don't have to. I'm sure you have other things to do."

Nathan shrugged. "Nothing more important than making sure you get home safe."

The sincerity in his words made Cael's chest tighten again, a warmth spreading through him despite himself. "You're really something else," he muttered, shaking his head.

Nathan grinned. "I'll take that as a compliment."

As they waited for the bus, Cael couldn't help but steal glances at Nathan. He was still trying to make sense of everything—their chance meeting, the way their friendship had taken such a sudden, unexpected turn. It was both exciting and terrifying, leaving him with a knot of uncertainty in his chest.

When the bus finally arrived, Nathan helped Cael on board, his hand lingering just a moment too long on Cael's back. As Cael took a seat by the window, he couldn't stop his thoughts from spiraling. How had a simple trip for art supplies led to this? What did it mean for their future?

Cael rested his head against the cool glass, watching the city blur past. For now, he decided, he wouldn't dwell too much on the answers. He'd take it one step at a time, just like Nathan had said. But even as he tried to calm his racing mind, one thought lingered stubbornly:

Nathan Larkson was going to turn his life upside down, and Cael wasn't sure if he was ready for it.
